2023 Can-Am Outlander 850 Hunting Edition Review. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video I share my thoughts and do a review on my new 2023 Can-Am Outlander 850 Hunting Edition ATV. I cover the good, the bad, and the ugly of this machine. I hope you all find my video informative and it can help others make an educated decision if they are considering purchasing this machine. If you have any questions or comments, I'd love to hear them. Leave us a comment below.

Too address the heat, get a flash tune. It’s a night and day difference. They make a lot of heat cause they are extremely lean from factory to meet California emissions, a tune fixes the air/fuel ratio, yes it will be a little harder on fuel but the engine will be a lot happier and more dependable down the road cause a cooler engine is a happier engine. A tune can also have the rad fan kick on sooner, can remove limiters and remove the reverse override and at the same time you’ll see a little bump in power. Look into a dynojet PV3 and have it loaded with their own tune or any tune file from companies like motorsports addict. Like any other machine out there, do proper maintenance and it will last forever. There’s many high mileage outlanders out there that can confirm lol
....that being said, I hope you have many miles on that machine, it looks nice and it's definitely decked out! I've a 2018 570 XT and what impressed me was the performance. It's my first Can Am and I've 1100 miles without any problems so far.
Not bad, good looking machine. I just ordered one of the new 700 pro Hunting editions. Looking forward to evaluating that one in the woods.

Just mine as well. Lots of features on it that sold me including the 4Lok.
Excellent review on a great machine. I have a 19 850XT and love it. Mine has a squealing sound at the back of mine and I just have to crack open the gas cap for a few seconds and it quits. I love plowing snow with it as well. You’ll enjoy this for a long time. Welcome to the CanAm family!!

Hi, i have a 2020 850 xt and the sound you hear is the fuel vent tube check valves.The dust gets inside the valves and clogs them up and blocks proper fuel ventilation and makes that hissing sound or a louder sharper noise. My mechanic ran new fuel vent tubes and eliminated the check valves completely and the noise is gone. I have 3000 kms on mine and the vent tube issue was the only problem. Lots of power, great handling and a smooth ride all day long. I get around 90 miles to a tank of fuel with it. I absolutely love riding this atv. Hope i explained the fuel ventilation issue properly....cheers
I got the 2016 850 XT and it looks exactly the same My buddy bought two of the 700s 2024 they look sick

If you have any specific questions, I'll be glad to try to answer them for you.
You have some beautiful land !! Nice four wheeler be careful.
How is the suspension? I’m in the market and need a soft riding ATV (back issues) on the slow technical stuff. Thanks
it's a pain, but a tune with a power vision3 will make the bike run much cooler near your leg. and much cooler overall. i had a suggestion to tune mine and i am glad i spent the money on it. also for it not going in and out of gear, it can be adjusted to shift much easier, there are some videos that show how, it's kind of one of those fit and finish things it seems if it goes into gear at all they send it out of the factory.
Cold start issue. I noticed mine starts up great on 87 octane, but with 93 it will sometimes stall after start. Manual says 87 is fine.
Good looking quad

Thanks! I initially wasn't a fan of the camo, but I wanted the rest of the features that came on the Hunting Edition. Since getting it, it's grown on me and I've come to love it. It also seems to be holding up really well so far and doesn't seem to scratch very easily. I believe in the long run it's likely to hold up much better than painted plastics on the other models.
Seems like the hunter addition should come with a gun scabbard, or a gun rack system.
Pick up my new Pro hd7 Friday. Can’t wait.

I thought you couldn’t get the hunting edition in a 1000? Or are you saying 1000 xt camo?
I’ve owned all brands except can am on atvs . I have an X3 sxs though and I am a fan of Can Am. I 100% rank them the better of the two North American manufacturers for sure . I recently traded my Polaris Sportsman 1000 Premium on a new KingQuad 750. It’s definitely slow compared to the 3 Brute Forces and 1000 sportsman I’ve had, but it’s fit and finish and overall build quality are absolutely superb . North America just doesn’t match Japanese there . They’re getting closer with the new 700s however .

I’ve been riding off road vehicles off all types and brands my whole life and so has my family. I can say without a doubt the only brand too actively avoid is Polaris. Avoid that brand like the plague and you should be good.

Bought a new 23 850 xmr and initially the front bumper was touching the plastic as well on the same side.
Get your header pipe ceramic coated by Swaintech with their white lightning coating. You’ll thank me later! Heat goes away and it will help with the perfomance.
We wanna see more atv videos
For $12k I would expect that think to be perfect. I have been considering buying one of these and had noticed some of these things on the one i looked at, and now seeing this video makes me think it is not a one off thing. So i will probably go with a different manufacturer in the end.

Better to have that little bit to complain about then get a different machine and end up always complaining about power

If you want to putt around on a gutless turd get a Japanese ATV. Sure, they will be reliable and get you where you need to go but to me there is no comparison with the fun factor. CanAm or Polaris all the way.
Quick question. Is that a seat cover or original seat? If it's a cover, do you have a link?
@Slowmxer

It's the original seat. That's one of the upgrades on the Hunting Edition. It comes with an upgraded seat cover. I'm a big fan.
Making a deal on a 2023 850 XT-P and it’ll be my first ATV at the age of 60. It’ll probably never dirty, because I’m buying it to take the grandkids for rides at the cabin. I’ll probably never take it out of work mode LOL

its almost as if ATV makers are allergic to LCD screens on the higher end options.

I'm not sure if it's the same in Canada, but in US the blue one comes in the XT model. It's similar, but doesn't have the heated grips, upgraded seat cover, it has different wheels and tires, etc. Those are what sold me on this hunting edition. Unfortunately it only comes in camo.
Couple mags can fit in that trunk lol
Went on look over them at a local dealer. They need a new welder because all of the Can-and look like a rush job. Sad.
What is up with that key? That looks like a disaster waiting to happen!! Plastic? And the way it just sits on there like a golf ball teed up waiting for a branch to knock it off....or break it off. I don't understand that....what advantage is that to the user? Being a Can Am owner I want to know if they're just trying to make our lives harder?
@Slowmxer
Жыл бұрын
These are pretty much my thoughts exactly on it. It does clip on there snugly, but I could see it getting knocked off. Or even more likely broken. I've seen some other videos where people say to put a key chain that floats on it as they've had them come off in water. That's not a huge concern for me dice I don't ride it in water, but it just highlights the issue.
@hammerheartdan6311

The plastic key is horrible, I have mine on a tether cause if you knock it off accidentally and lose it, you’re screwed and have to dish out 350cad to program a new one.

T run that I've on minimum and you're gonna go through brake pads fast. Crank that to max and save your brakes
Being a little bit of an exaggeration there bud. Engine breaking on Max does not throw you forward no matter what speed you're going at lol.

Mine definitely pushes me forward if you let off of the gas quickly with it set on max. If you ease off of the throttle isn't not as obvious. Either way it comes in handy in certain situations.
