i had a 1988 camry and 1991 camry both were 5 speed manuals, amazing cars, easily went up to 118 MPH which they were governed at

Not bad for a NA 2.5. Gear spacing seems far like most Toyota 8 speeds but shifts well

All 8 speeds are the same from Toyota and Lexus when they come in FWD/AWD models except for longitudinal mounted engines like in the LS and GS

Was this done in manual mode or fully automatic?

The camry transmission does change from 4gear to 6gear without the 5th with no issues, that is the bug you mentioned

a thing I've noticed, the hotter the transmission becomes, the snappier the shifts become and it shifts at a higher rpm. I remember I had a 2023 Toyota RAV4 that I test drove (it was a rental) and I'd notice the same thing. After a few spirited runs, I noticed the transmission become much more crisp, its almost like the operational temp is too low for the transmission and acts rather lazy as a result. Samething for even the Lexus ISF, RCF, any Toyota that has the 8 speed has this 'issue'

@@alexanderkennedy2969 overheating a transmission is wat kills them... they have oil so they clearly have to be at a hot enough temperature for it to operate well... in this case operating temp.
