All Quiet on the Western front - the big clean up yesterday evening with 7 awards at the Bafta ceremony 2023 including best film - we Germans are so proud, at least for me as a Germans it is historical - as Boris Becker had won 1985 Wimbledon, this is a game changer for German film as 37 years ago was Boris and Steffi for German tennis 🔥

I was expected that Kerry Condon was going to win the BAFTA for supporting actress but I still think that Angela Bassett is winning the Oscar for supporting actress and I have hope that Michelle Yeoh could still win the Sag and Oscar for best actress and not Cate Blanchett for Tar . I have a dream in my head that when The Oscars are finally on and it is the time to announce that the winner and Halle Berry is the presenter for best actress and she opened the envelope and she take a breath and she said that she has been on the mountain being the only actress of color to win the Oscar for best actress and she said Michelle Yeoh's name as the winner and anyway that's my fantasy and all the winners were white.

That would be historic if Halle Berry, the first and only woman of color to win Best Actress at the Oscars will present Best Actress award and award another woman of color to win Best Actress which will be Michelle Yeoh. That might only happen if Michelle Yeoh wins SAG though. If Cate Blanchett wins SAG, Michelle Yeoh won't win the Oscar.

Sure Cate Blanchett will win at the Oscar, Mitchell Yeoh is Asian, I have no confidence at all she will win at the Oscar despite her acting was very good in that movie. it's very difficult for an Asian actor to be recognized in Hollywood. The east has a lot of good actors and they are very popular in Asia but they don't prefer to act in Hollywood movies, they will be neglected and just play small role with only a few words spoken. Hollywood prefers to choose those unknown small eyes actors to represent or tell the world what Asian looks like. They are a lot of pretty and handsome popular actors in Asia and they can speak fluent English but they don't prefer to act in Hollywood movies. Like Kye Yew Kuan once said, I couldn't get a role to act in Hollywood movies for all these years. However, black actors even have more opportunities to act in a Hollywood movie but when Hollywood actor star in an Asian movie, they will be offered to play the main role. Thank u for reading.

Been on the train since I saw the trailer in February

After the BAFTA’s, it wouldn’t be too shocking if the Oscars award all white nominees in almost every category. Definitely nothing wrong with it but it’s something to think about to anyone rooting for both Black Panther Wakanda Forever and Everything Everywhere All At Once to win any major awards. It’s best not to get too invested at the Oscars going forward so that you won’t be too disappointed if the actual results is not what you personally wanted.

I want Key Huy Quan to win though. Besides I think Barry Keoghan and his co-star Brendan Gleason will split the vote.

Denzel Washington wasn't even nominated at the BAFTAs. That's saying a lot considering he won 2 Oscars.

Weird how I feel like Butler and Blanchett are locked now and Quan and Bassett aren’t? Maybe I’m being too reactionary to Bafta but their acting winners are usually more accurate than sag.

Soooo glad that Fraser won the SAG and Oscar. Guess you were wrong about Butler. 👅

Austin Butler won the The Golden Globe over Fraser (Drama) and BAFTA over Farrell and Fraser, as well as the Australian AACTA International and Catalonia Sant Jordi and the Satellite over Farrell (Comedy or Musical) and he's up for the Irish International category at IFTA. Fraser won his awards because of his melodramatics and feel good comeback narrative and it was all American bodies falling for that garbage. The Forgien Press, British Academy, Australian Academy international version and Catalonia Branch of the Public Spanish Radio Network all went with Butler over Fraser and Farrell. Austin's dramatics in Elvis beyond the amazing on stage performances matched both Farrell and Fraser when Elvis's mother dies, when Priscilla leaves and when he screams at Parker on stage and when he yells at him and his dad in the hotel lobby and suite. Austin did so many subtle things too that went over the heads of many who aren't lifelong avid Elvis fans. Also, The Golden Globes and BAFTA are too good to be seen as, and never were, traditional precursors to the agenda based Oscars. When they line up with the Oscars it is purely coincidental because of what each voting body primarily represents, that being The Golden Globes - International voters from around the world, The BAFTAs - voters from the United Kingdom and The Oscars - voters from the United States. The Golden Globes and BAFTA have always been prestigious stand alone awards. BAFTA's ceremony has only preceeded the Oscars for 20 years. For over 50 years the Oscars could be called a precursor to BAFTA. Critics Choice and SAG are more precursors because they are American voters. This explains why outside of the U.S. Critics Choice and SAG don't make a single list of important film awards on a world scale, because people only look to the Oscars for what the U.S. thinks, and that Critics Choice and SAG have only been around since 1995 and 1996. The Golden Globes (1944) BAFTA (1949) along with the Oscars (1929) all make every list of not only significant global film awards, but awards in general, including the Grammy, Nobel and Pulitzer. If you win the Oscar, and you also won Critics Choice and/or SAG for the same role or film etc, the Oscar is just a greater extension of those wins. But if you win an Oscar, Golden Globe and/or BAFTA, it's much more like winning multiple awards. Same as if you win Critics Choice and/or SAG but not the Oscar, you're far more empty handed in the eyes of the masses than had you won a Golden Globe and/or BAFTA but not the Oscar. In that scenario you've still won one or more worldwide prestigious trophies

Very doubtful. Not nominated for Best Director and it probably won't win for editing either. I hope it wins Best Foreign picture and one or two technical categories. If it gets three Oscars it will be a huge success.

It won't win considering it doesn't have a PGA nomination. I'm not sure if there's any movie that wins Best Picture at the Oscars without a PGA nomination.

Im trilled for Cate Blanchett. Only sweeper so far. GG, CC, Bafta, Critics trifecta. Unsurprising as her performance is undeniable. On basis of merit Blanchett derives sweep all the way to Oscars.

Blanchett is the only acting nominee who can still sweep the industry awards. Only SAG is left and she is very popular there. Also, if EEAAO wins Ensemble, they may not reward Yeoh twice.

Not necessarily. Francis McDormand won SAG for Best Actress and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri win for Best Cast Ensemble, it’s still possible that Michelle wins Best Actress and Everything Everywhere All At Once wins best Cast Ensemble, but we have to just wait and see next week!

I think Sam Rockwell won as well.

I think the supporting actor winners at BAFTA will be like The Favourite acting winners at BAFTA. Kerry Condon wil be like an Olivia Colman and beat a veteran actress who's overdue for an Oscar win. I think Barry Keoghan will be like a Rachel Weisz and win BAFTA but the frontrunner will win Oscar because co-nominees from same film will split the vote.

I hope Fraser wins SAG. Butler would be #2 for me.
