Loved your enthusiasm here. I really have to buy either the MT-09 or XSR900 for my next season. Drove the SP couple of times, crazy how it makes a stupid amount of fun on every throttle imput.
Omg I've been waiting for you to do a review of this!! I already put my money down on this thing months ago and I'm excited to get my hands on this.
I don't care what people around me think. I'm going to ride my bike from the 80's to learn on for 6 months then I'm getting this. Saw one today and it was love at first sight.
Thanks for the REVEALING video. You have shown that this new xsr 900 is not the runaway wheelie monster I feared.
I got my 2022 xsr900 in June and was literally the only one in Ohio at the time. Glad to see the community growing as this is a great motorcycle. Looking forward to some upgrades and new seat from Kelpi, but no worries. Believe it or not I have yet to use the quick shifter and heated grips, so i've still got a lot of honeymooning left to do. Only at 1,000 miles so need to take it in for service. Suspension was a bit stiff out of the gate but seems to be settling in nicely. Fast bike and 3rd gear is a beast.
Just rented one of these and thought I was crazy for how impressed I was. Thanks for the confirmation. Def buying one.
Just got mine a little less than 2 weeks ago. Just walked in the showroom and it was sitting there. Bought it on the spot. LOVE this bike.

@gavin3810 I love it. It just fits me perfectly. I rode nothing but monsters for about 12 years and it reminds me of those ergos. I had a Brutale Dragster RR last year, and it performs like a more civilized version of that. The first ride on it I felt faster than on my Hypermotard Sp (which is now for sale, lol). I know looks are subjective but I love it. I don't think I will sell this one for a long time if ever.

Hope you got it by now! I got my 09SP at Christmas time and love it. I am 50 and just got back onto a bike. It is happy in town or cruising and loves a spirited ride. Great ergos and love the torque. Ran in with a spirited Mode 3 now use mode 2. All aids on full in Manual mode......grandma mode i know but gives you a nice smooth wheelie if you decide the time is right. Taking my time to get to know and respect the bike, and try and keep my licence. In Oz and the po po are pretty hot. Good luck and ride safe.
This video gave me a renewed interest in Yamaha. Thank you!
Hearing the smile in your voice the whole time you were riding... gave me a big smile the whole time while watching.
Love my XSR900. Got an exhaust and DNA airfilter and it sounds fantastic
Yeah this is definetly what I want as a second bike. This thing is wonderful😩
Kinda funny I suggested this bike to Yammie a couple months ago and he commented saying he's trying to find one, awesome.
I was on the fence about a couple of bikes, however this video sold me on the XSR….. I’m going to pick mine up on Saturday
My little brother just bought one yesterday. He’s been looking for a while. A dealer had one arrive that had been for a guy that had ordered it and he ended up backing out so my brother got it. I can’t wait to ride the thing.

To cancel cruise control you can also roll the throttle forward for a smooth cancel. Ride a new mt09sp, its so nice. Put 10K on in 10 months of ownership.
Same here. I just bought a brand new 22 xsr900 in October and it is also my first bike. I absolutely love it. Already put 1800 miles on it. This thing is a torque machine. I have to be careful not to power wheelie in 1st gear. I’ve even got the tire up in 2nd with precise throttle control. So far I’ve put frame sliders, rear fender eliminator with new signals, and some reflective tape that matches the blue model on the rims. I still want to put an aftermarket exhaust, some engine guards and shorter adjustable levers but it’s still hard finding parts for this because it’s so new and apparently they’re still hard to find. I think I got lucky. I called a dealer and they just happened to get one in the day before that was still in the shipping crate so I put a $500 deposit down and picked it up the next day. If anyone knows a good place to get aftermarket accessories I would appreciate the tip. Overall I’m very satisfied with it. I really don’t have any complaints.

how is it as a first bike? do the modes and traction assist make it comfortable enough to not have to worry about its power?
This is my dream bike. Currently learning on a little Honda CB300R, for my first year. Hoping this thing is still made new in 2025!
I made a testride on this bike and on the street triple 765R. The Triumph felt way more distinguished and looks a lot better crafted too. I might be getting old.
I got mine this April (a blue one), and plan to keep it until I am too old and need something more sedate. It's good fun around the country lanes around my home town, and works for inter-city Autobahn tours as well. I am waiting for the aftermarket to pick up, so I can get a pillion cover and larger saddlebags, but apart from that, this will be my bike-before-last.

Picking mine up tomorrow!!😁
Yes! This xsr900 bike has growth for a beginner rider!
9.25 I think its a solid 9.6 when you factor in the cost of the bike. I still have a 2020 that I absolutely adore as a daily driver and am shocked to see a company like Yamaha take ALLL of the content creator/ user input and make the 2021-23 bikes with this much quality. At first the XSR/ BOLT Heritage project seemed like a side gig for yamoto but now they're perfecting the bikes and putting them in a class of there own. NOW THEY NEED TO MAKE A XSR 1000 (Yamaha please read)

Well it’s settled. 2023 ordered. Let’s gooooo !!!!!
Just an all around fun bike. Will go down as one of the greats. Have my own 22 Mt09
The earlier XSRs use throttle by wire as well, and you have to do a hell of a lot of tweaking (or in my case leaving it with a mechanic forever to get tuned correctly) to get it to work well-enough. There is a small part of me that wishes I had waited for a minute and picked up the new XSR, but I do love my spunky old one to death. Glad to hear that the base model is just a fun ride, it took forever to get mine right, and it took a lot of time and cash.

I bought mine as my first bike too, such and awesome and fun bike
This is my dream bike, I'm planning to upgrade to this exact colour from my first bike, MT-07 2022 Pure, also in black. MT-07 is prepaired for next season, winterized for now. The season after the next season, hopefully I will be riding on black XSR 900.
Nice video, we can feel your pleasure when you ride it !

I love my 2019...throttle is fine once you get the feel...but this electronic throttle is very tempting...I wish they had an SP version...Needed a pipe and tune...braded lines and pads upgrade make this bike the best handling and style for me.
I have noticed in your videos the cover for the brake reservoir, those actually seem pretty functional.

Most every stock seat on most every Japanese sporty bike is total crap. But that's the price we pay for the Japanese quality and reliability. I'd find an aftermarket upholsterer service and add 1-2" of foam to that bottom and shape the butt pan with a bit of concavity.

MT has shorter wheelbase, taller bars. It's meant to handle a bit more playfully at the expense of the more series high speed stability you get from a bit more forward, low stance.
Yam, can you do a comparison video of KTM Duke 890 and the XSR900? Considering both but leaning towards a new XSR with blue paint and gold rims.
@FrenchyRider574

Just tried the duke 890 yesterday. Amazing bike, super flickable, handles great and the engine is super smooth and powerful. But I think I'll get the XSR, I think it looks better and you get the Yamaha reliability.
Im focusing on getting this this year.
Wow that my dream bike 🥺😍🤤 that's amazing always ride safe sir and GODBless 🙏😇
I get a lot of compliments on my 60th Anniversary XSR900.
The frame and headlight combined remind of the old honda x11 but then a little leaner
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. This looks a lot like my 2021 Honda CB1000R, between the fully blacked out color scheme and the overall stance. Looks great though.
Nice vid. Just wondered, have Yamaha fixed the fueling or has Jacob as presumably he's had it mapped/flashed with the full system? Either way, I've always thought it's a good bike but also that it looks a bit weird, even ugly tbh, although it actually looks really good in the black. Only thing I'd prefer apearance wise is gold forks & wheels from the blue one on the black version & it would look really good imo. It's also definitely one of the best value bikes on the market currently. In terms of bang for your buck, it's probably between this, it's MT-09 standard & SP siblings & the latest Suzuki GSXS1000. Although the XSR is probably the coolest of the bunch.

Now I really want an r9
Damn looks like yamaha's going all out with the R9 development.
I have a 2017 xsr900, I adore it but it isn’t without it faults, I’m sticking a Nitron rear shock on it soon and getting it on the dyno for a proper tune, possibly fork internals aswell. I really didn’t like the look of the new XSR initially but it really is growing on me. I’d have to get a seat made for it as the standard one is real ugly imo. I reckon I’ll trade mine in for the new model in a couple yrs.
You can cancel cruise control also by rolling forward on the throttle all the way.
Wondering if the bike was tuned for the exhaust? And does it also have intake mods? Just picked mine up yesterday, and haven’t had much chance to ride it here in rainy Oregon, and want to know what to expect. Tuning bikes for exhaust and intake has made a huge difference in throttle response, smoothness, etc for me in the past .
I was so tempted to pull the trigger on one that I saw but I tried to not to make an impulsive decision. Definitely want one in the future.
