    Yes I test drove the 300 gr.... I pick it Monday 😅 ticks all my boxes, comes with off road animal bullbar, flat roof rack and micky Thompson A/t. Think I'll just get 4" straight exhaust and snorkel. Already have a winch, and spotties for it. I don't need rear seats I take them out and put rear draws. And if you have to get a mod plate to do that legally. Love all the safety features, because my wife is going to be driving it mostly with the kids. And it matches my GR yaris Rallye

If there's only two of you and maybe a couple of light kids - how much crap do you actually need to take with you? Mine is on order!

    Who needs diff locks in a "touring vehicle" Toyota having a laugh if they think off-roaders will opt for this model at that price. Bull bar and fridge and you are at GVM...... Bull bar will block intercoolers and if it doesn't a bit of dusty outback travel will mix dust with insects and block them too. I predict lots of issues with the hot V for anyone using this as a tow vehicle, note that maximum trailer weight will be 2500kg not 3500kg as claimed, to stay legal.

  • @OriginalNightStalker

    @OriginalNightStalker

    2 жыл бұрын

    What are you talking about? GVM, GCM etc all allow for a 3500Kg braked towing weight. Even with a bull bar - personally I'd go with a SmartBar. And with more torque, along with the 10-speed box meaning that you're at close to peak power range most of the time, it should be a great towing vehicle. But of course, the dinosaurs (the same ones who rubbished the LC200 when it superseded the LC100) who cling to the idea that a V8 is necessary to make a good towing vehicle, will be proved wrong once again. Price aside, this is a great towing vehicle. And price-wise, it's still way cheaper than a Defender or even a RAM - but a much better vehicle IMHO.

  • @einfelder8262

    @@OriginalNightStalker You clearly know jackshit about GVM, GCM. The LC300 has 610kg payload (give or take a few depending on which model) Put a 3500kg van on and you have 260kg payload left. Put in a full tank of fuel, a bull bar, some decent LT rubber, some recovery gear, maybe an extra battery and drawer system and you're lucky to be able to carry the driver and stay under GVM. I repeat the maximum practical van weight for a family of 4 fully loaded with all their shit would be 2500kg. As for the engine, VW Toureg and Disco owners have been towing with 3.0L V6 diesel without any issues on 6 or 8 speed autos. Nothing wrong with a good V6, I never said there was.

    It died with the 100 series 1hdfte, the 200 was just life support. The best 4wds ever made were produced from around 1998-2006 (both Toyota and Nissan). Materials were cheap and competition at an all time high which pushed manufacturers to build the best. Those cars were over engineered and built to last. The amount of parts available and self servicing is insane with the older 4wds compared to today's modern 4wds which clog up with egr and dpf in less than 30,000km.
