Hong Kong is a team with two great fencers. Both the reigning Olympic Champion, CHEUNG Ka Long 張家朗 and CHOI Chun Yi Ryan 蔡俊彥 are currently ranked individually in the top 10
However, team fencing requires at least three fencers, and Ng Lok Wang Lawrence, YEUNG Chi Ka, LEUNG Chin Yu, and CHOI Nicholas Edward are all not in the top 50.
In recent memory, Hong Kong has won Silver at the 2019 St Petersburg World Cup, and Bronze at the 2020 Cairo World Cup. However, since then, Hong Kong has rarely made the semifinals of any world cup.

Since the end of the previous season, Reigning Junior World Champion and 2022 Senior Belgrade Grand Prix Bronze Medalist, IIMURA Kazuki has replaced SAITO Toshiya for most team events. SUZUMURA Kenta is also now in the top 4 again. Japan came fourth at the previous competition - Bonn World Cup. On the previous day NAGANO came third in the individual event. Nagano had also been a member of the Japanese team at the 2020 Olympic Games. However, Suzumura continues to hold the fourth spot in team competitions.
