I'll take a nice sounding car that's not super loud over an annoyingly loud synthesized engine all day. I'm not sure who the fake sound is supposed to appeal to, really. If it's for track days when your helmet is muffling the exhaust maybe they should just have a switch for it somewhere.

I had the PS3 AS on my S2000 and wasn't a fan. I had no faith in turns. I replaced them with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2s and loved them. They lasted me about 30k miles.
I'm running a set of PSAS4s on my Miata RF as my year round street tires. Very happy with them so far. All seaons have come a long way. Playful and consistent street grip. It's strong enough to lean on but not so aggressive that you can't have fun on it.
This is hands down best UHP all season tire on the market. I have the Conti DWS06+ simply bc they were less expensive and I didn’t need the 5% better steering feel and dry grip that the AS4 gives, and in the wet they’re utterly fantastic anyway. Cheers to your purchase. If I buy this car I will be making the same upgrade.
Cannot wait for winter tire reviews on this platform! Especially in the snow you guys get in Michigan.

@@TheTopher Responded to the wrong comment :)
I just did the same switch on my BRZ. Similar comments: quieter on asphalt (not much on concrete), smaller bumps are absorbed more, sticks like glue in wet, you can get mid corner rotation to rip you out of corners, it’s also a progressive tire when slipping. It’s a solid tire for day2day and autocross. And comes with 50k mile warranty!
I put a set of pilot sport all season on my outback wilderness and it completely changed the feel of the wagon!
Just picked up my 23 brz yesterday. Such a fantastic car!
I have these in 225/40 on my Veloster N and I've been liking them a lot more than stock tires. The traction in rain is great, and they deal well with light snow as well. They also did pretty well in autocross. Overall really great tires
I just put some 245/40R18's on my new WRX (after nearly spinning it leaving work the first day when the temp dropped to 37) and I think they actually have better road feel in the dry/warmth than the summer Dunlops they come with. They seem pretty grippy in the dry/wet while being a little more predictable when hooning it. I actually can't wait for the first PA snowfall this year. They're already proving their worth with all of the "high of 70F, low of 30F" days we have here. As great as the new Rex is, these POVs are giving me massive BRZ envy.
I had the older version of this tire on my Acura TSX wagon and the wet performance is really really good! Definitely gonna keep using it for my next set
Nice tire review! Appreciate seeing the 1st gear pull, seems very short now. Car is looking good
I'm running Michelin X Snow tires on my GR86 and I can't believe how much quieter they are compared to the PS4 tires. Did my first winter drive on them today too and they were super confidence inspiring. Somehow I enjoy this car even more in winter.

Winter tires are definitely quieter! I drove this off the dealer lot on Blizzaks and was surprised how loud the Primacys were haha. The tradeoff is worth it with some performance tires, but not with the PS4s imo - they're deafening in the GR86/BRZ!

@@TheTopher winter tires seem to be more quiet on overpasses or concrete hwy where the extra rubber is dampening the noise. Feels better on bumps also!
I have these on my civic for about a year. So far so good, though I've yet to try in any snow, but snowfall has been scarce these past few years. These do well in the rain, in my experience.
I love these tires. Have them in my TSX / Euro Accord. Haven’t been able to break them loose yet and they work so well in rainy weather. 215/50/ZR17’s
This review just confirmed my order for the same tires (primarily because I need all seasons soon and dws06+ isn’t available until January) but this was a top two pick regardless haha
Great idea to do this swap out and test! I find it interesting that these have slightly less grip than the "Prius tires" that everyone constantly carps about. From what I've seen of the OEM 18" wheels with regular PS 4's, those make more noise than the 17" Primacy. I'm a long ways from replacing my 17" Primacy's on my BRZ, but this looks like a good option for where I live. If you trust and follow the advice, the summer tires should not be used in the cold (regardless of snow or ice), so I find myself needing to swap on my winter whieels and Blizzaks just for that. And we have plenty of days where in the morning, it is too cold for summer tires, but by afternoon, getting a little warm for winter tires (more wear). This looks like a way to solve that issue and still have a tire that doesn't significantly degrade the fun factor.
Same tires I have on my Mazda 6. I absolutely love them. Prior to the Michelins, I had BF Goodrich Comp 2 A/S on it. Those were good also, but I hated the rugged look of the sidewall. Tire wear has also proven better in the Michelin so far. They are very solid in the wet, but I have not had them in the snow/ice yet. Enjoy them.
I just put a set of these on my mk7 GTi (2 door!) and so far they've been fantastic tires. I typically don't really go the all-season route but my last few cars have only had a single set of wheels soooo lol. Owned the DWS06+ before and liked them even more because of their road manners. I'll add another set of wheels next year to the GTi and get some Conti Extremes again which I loved on my Miata. I've only put about 200 miles on these so far so I'm looking forward to how the grip and performance improves after a few more miles. 👌

I wonder if the Primacy was less progressive with its break-away compared to the Pilot Sport AS4 due to it being a more eco-focused tire? Maybe the new ones are a little softer.

in terms of snow performance, what is the other all season are you comparing them to?
Great vid! Im currently on Conti DWS06+ on my GR86. Much better than Primacys. Also have done 2 HPDE events on the Conti's on cooler days (40f-50f) range/wet and they performed great and predictable. Im hoping for decent snow this season to test snow performance. I am eyeing these Michelins AS4 when the Conti's are done. Have you had any experience with DWS06+? Is it worth the switch?
I tested the Dunlop sport all season for around 10K km they are good on dry and wet roads tbh never tryied on snow. You can feel its not as effective as Dunlop sportmaxx lineup ofc but its good if you dont want to bother having 2 sets of wheels
My GR86 Premium (215/40 R18 tires) is due next month, and I'm shopping winter tires now. I've seen many 225/40 R18 tires, but no 215/40 R18... Do you think it's fine to run 225 winter tires on stock wheels? Thank you. Edit: Bridgestone Blizzak WS90 has a 215/55 R18. Do you think it can fit?
Interesting note: the Primacy is actually categorized as a summer tire, not an all-season. It’s just not an “extreme” performance summer tire. Funny that the best UHP all season is superior in every way to an an above average summer tire.

The Primacy targeted market is sedans / luxury vehicles and is no way giving performance close to the Pilot Sport family. Some Primacy tires are based on older Michelin tires so they are not quite up to par with the latest performance tire generation either.

Do these feel any stiffer than the last gen? I’m on the fence for DWS06+ again but the AS3 was too soft for me. Grip was unsurpassed though.
Just curious why you turn the traction control off? I always leave mine on.
I just changed the primacys for Crossclimate 2s. I don't lose grip as violently as I did with the primacys but these are not performance tires for sure. Increased width to 225 but I still lose grip on dry and cold roads. Just waiting for it to snow or rain heavily to see how they do cause the primacys could not handle very wet conditions at all.

...rotation will be front to back since it is a directional tire...only slight drawback.
I went with 17" CrossClimate2 for my "winter" tire, wasn't sure how I felt going all the way down to 16s coming from the 18" PS4 setup. Road noise is about the same and the traction blows me away, I cannot for the life of me get the rear end to slide like I could with the PS4 😂 (assists still on for now bc i'm new to rwd lol)
Which of the Michelin performance tyres have the longest tread wear rating?
Reference a 2021Charger Scat Pack with OEM Goodyear Eagle Rs-A2 tires. In your opinion, ride comfort only, which tire rides better, Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus OR Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tire? Ride over typical Michigan roads of frost heaves, expansion joints, pot holes, broken pavement which has the best ride? Thankx
The Pilot Sport A/S 3+ is the most summer-tire-like all season I've experienced in autox by such a large margin. The A/S 4 is the same but with noticeably more grip. RE980AS and DWS06 are vague (overly squishy tread) and overheat/tear up quickly by comparison. The RE980AS has a much harsher ride with overly stiff sidewalls, too. The PS A/S has fantastic, consistent grip during the summer months (until overheated) and in the PNW cold+rain. Slides wonderfully and predictably compared to HP summer tires. SO much fun. I haven't tested it in snow.

Tire compound is much more important than section width for overall grip; going from 245 to 255 won’t be a massive difference. RS4 are already a great compromise tire for a 200TW.
