@@Prodigious1One It's evidently based on real-world EV usage data: for most people that would be enough for their daily needs. And a smaller battery means lower weight (but then they added it back on by putting it in an SUV body). SUVs are popular, though, so I see the logic, even if doesn't suit me.

I bought an MX-30 in June 2022. After a year (and 30,000 km travelled), I can say that I am very satisfied with the purchase. It is the perfect car for me and for my work. It is the perfect car for the use for which it was designed. I stopped having range anxiety!

Really didn't expect it to look this good, kind of like it. Great video as usual!

The rear doors may be “hugely impractical”, but it’s more practical than a 2-door car without rear doors. Matter of perspective. :) Not a lot of 2-door options in the EV space.

Agreed! It seems all video knock cars without giant backseats. If you just want a second card for around town, you really don't want a giant backseat. The fact that the car has a small battery, which pairs with small seat. Smaller battery also means cheaper, perfect for a second car.

I also think it seems like the doors were designed that way to get child seats in and out 🤷‍♀️ back seat passengers also won’t get dirty on the way in and out

One of my favourite EVs and I would buy one tomorrow but the range is just too short for me. I could live with 140-150 real world but under 100 is a deal breaker. Gutted.

Greetings from Canada. My questions that were not answered from your video. 1. Battery Chemistry? 2. Type of heating system? 3. Platform - modified ICE or EV from the ground up? Frunk present? I currently own a Mazda CX-5 and AWD matters here in Canada. Will there be an AWD variant available?

I share with you my experience after 6 months driving a MX30, and not just test-driving it for a few hours, MX30 is absolutely a very gorgeous car, inside-out with outstanding finishing quality and very comfortable and pleasant to drive. BUT WHAT A SHAME!!! Technically as an EV, MX30 is useless! When the temperature drops to freezing point or even near, driving range on the highway drops to 110KM (140KM off highway) and worst is the charging time, it takes over 3 hours (in cold weather) to recharge the battery on a CCS 50KW/h charging station and not 45 minutes as announced by Mazda! You need to stop 3 hours at a fast charging station to be able to drive less than one hour!

Class winning range for a car 10 years ago . Well done Mazda.

Great car to drive with fantastic interior quality. As I am now retired I travel on average 100 miles a week, so I would only need to charge the car ONCE a week. The BIG question for me would be - with the back seats folded down would I be able to get my golf clubs in it!

What a shame really. Nice looking car, and I wouldn't mind the rear doors (easier to chuck stuff in the back seats), but the built in range anxiety factor is a complete no no.

I tested LHD version a few months ago.. everything you say is spot on... I've Said it on many forums.. why did they build this? And EV version of the CX30 would of been the way to go....I've had 5 Mazda's in the 7 past years..the last was the CX30 which is a good car. Having a range extender this is a backward move. Mazda needed this to a hit, unfortunately it's a miss.

@@barrierodliffe4155 220 km in summer, 165 km in winter (actual tests by NAF and motor.no) is more than enough for most people in urban areas.

One of the best reviews I've seen for a while. Really excellent and honest assessment of the pros and cons. The range extender model will be of very great interest, if they can also up the power a bit to get 0-62 in, say, 8 seconds. That would mean fun driving for the 90% of journeys under 125 miles and then no worries beyond that - just keep topping up with fuel and you can go to the south of France!! Personally I can live with the doors :)

Just test drove one, was great but was kind of concerning that I used 20% of the battery on a city to small village and back again... averaging 3.1kw per mile... just wish it had WLTP of like 180 ish ... / having a 45kwh battery vs a 35kwh battery and they don't tell you if that's total or useable

What were they thinking of with that range?? This just feels like a compliance car. Mazda seem to not be into electric, are years away from a dedicated electric platform instead of shoving an electric motor in an ICE car and, in my opinion, are going to struggle to stay relevant in the coming years. A mid sized car that can't get from Yorkshire to the Midlands on a full charge? - nonsense.

Reminds me a lot of my late BMW i3. The rotary dial controls, use of recycled materials, and the suicide doors are all straight lifted from the i3. Along with the upcoming model that will have a gas range extender.

It's hard to understand why manufacturers still build EVs with such impractical ranges (hi Honda!)

Love this car, my only concern is the short range! single buyer does not care about the back seat and door!

That range is a real deal breaker. I'd get the E-Niro over that.

Every reviewer makes such a big deal out of the impracticality of the doors and rear cabin access. Sliding the passenger front seat forward is simple and allows heaps of room to climb in the back. Obviously we've forgotten about all the 2 door coupes that have ever existed. This car isn't designed to replace your family sedan or SUV. For the few occasions when you will carry passengers in the back, this car is completely fine.

Mazda has been killing it latley........ This isn’t one of them.

What did you go for in the end please Dariusz? I love this car and the quality Vs price is excellent, but the range could be a problem. I'm interested that you were looking at this after a leaf, and preferred it to the Corsa. The Corsa is another well priced package, and I like a driver's car.

@@philip771 I ended up buying MG5. Sadly mazda couldn't even get close to what MG offered on PCP finance. On top of this MG give 7years warranty, longer range and more practicality. I was also considering Nissan 40kwh which was cheaper but as mentioned before MG offers a lot more car for the money 💰

My Rx8 had these rear doors. Didn't bother me at all.

I think this could be a great car if the price is right. It's very similar to the now discontinued BMW i3 (which I own). There is a lot of nit-picking going on here, but of the top two issues for me would be a leather seating option as those recycled fabric seats stain very easily. The second would be the range which might have been already addressed with the introduction of their hybrid option. All around the MX-30 could be a great option for folks interested in an EV cruiser.

Great car as a second car for us that live 20 miles outside the city. Better quality and equipment then many other cars in the same price range, since the smaller battery. We don't need more range, I prefer that instead of a bigger battery that we don't have any need for. I think it's great thinking with low range EV for those who don't need more then 50-60 miles (or less) per day, just as they make ICE cars with less Hp fore those who don't need an every day car that do 0-60 in 6 seconds and 250km/h top speed.

Completely agree Martin! We drive less than 60 km a day, so this will work great for us. We test drove one a little while ago, and liked it so much that we ordered one! Will arrive in July. The top trim Cosmo with so much equipment, and it handles really well in corners and over speed bumps! Mazda has done a great job 👍 Great to hear that you are satisfied with it. Tjena från Norge!

@@TheDannyWinther we bought a used one (cosmo) that we got get in 2 weeks, with only 7000km on it (that 3 month driving for us), and after 4 weeks we have nearly 2000km in it, and 150km on the diesel in the same time. We save alot on gas, and it is so nice to drive. Tjena tillbaks ifrån Sverige!

Will indeed save a lot on gas, services, toll and insurance! 7000 km is not bad, almost a new car 👍 How is the Bose sound system?! Is it as good as I hope? I am a huge Bose fan, have many of their products 😉

Very tricky on the range, have 60mile trip each way everyday which means I'll forever need to plugged in at either side of trip

We have a premium trim '22 and i can't get enough of driving this car. It has the mazda fun factor, build quality is impeccable, it feels more upscale than my "luxury" car, it's such a well done, lovely car. Also so technological with loads of features as well. The range is comical though. Since they recommend using it in the 20-80 range, the ACTUAL range is 60 miles and even lower if u have fun with it and drive in spirit. It's such a shame. Could have been absolutely perfect.

It’s a good looking car but it doesn’t have enough range or AWD. I certainly don’t want to make extra stops to charge this car especially without AWD when I’m either in or about to be in a snow storm. This is primarily a city car but it snows in the city too and I may have to travel on unplowed streets. I hear Mazda intends to add a rotary engine as a range extender. But it doesn’t appear that that the rotary engine will connect to the drive wheels. Consequently, Mazda is simply spinning off a plug in gas/electric hybrid.

@@barrierodliffe4155 You silly goose.. It charges from 10-80% in 40 minutes (actual tests), not 45 minutes after 10 km. And mixed driving is 220 km in summer, which includes highways. But keep trying, triggered troglodyte. Also, what is a peole?

I honestly admire Mazda as a manufacturer but I am at a loss to understand the marketing plan behind this product? It's configuration just won't appeal to a lot of buyers due to the passenger access to the back seats. BWW tried this with the i3 to mixed results, and the RX-7 was a sports car so no one was expected to use the back seats anyway. Also the range on this model is just not competitive with other EV products now on the road. Mazda does interiors and handling really well so there is that but it is still not enough to be what I believe will be a strong seller for them. They would have been better off to have kept the CX-30 body, 4-doors and bumped up the battery range to at least 200 miles before introducing this to the general public. Better yet, bring out a Mazda 5 EV! Loved that design.

What if you want to get into the back alone, do the front doors stay opened?

It’s not half-baked. It’s just quirky and different - with a small range some of us can live with. I bet it’s not as expensive as the other EV’s to insure either.

The MX-30 is brilliant at doing what it is supposed to do, and Mazda is very explicit on what it is and isn't supposed to do. For sure, Mazda is not scamming potential buyers into thinking otherwise. It is not brilliant at doing what it is not supposed to do, obviously. It is for certain scenarios and not for others. It is impossible to decide what is brilliant or terrible without considering a scenario (I think this is the point of the video), as if it was possible to ask in absolute terms which is better between an open top roadster and a 4-wheels drive pickup... well, what are You gonna do, have fun driving during the weekend or moving hay bales off road to the horses up the hill? Is the MX-5 a brilliant family car, when Your family is 2 grandpas, 2 grandma, wife and four children? Is the Dodge Ram a brilliant city car, when Your city center is built as old European villages are and You are wondering how even horses could have moved through that 'road' (the answer is 'donkeys', of course)? The MX-30 is designed with commuting in mind. Within its scope of intended use, it is brilliant, efficient, and with a favorable ratio of quality to cost. This is not a given achievement, there are things around that are not good at doing what they are supposed to do, but the MX-30 is not among them. This is a car for conscious buyers who are aware that their use will fit with the design, which is what all buyers should be. PS: the 'freestyle' doors have pros and cons. Most reviews will list the evident cons (You need to open the front doors before the rear doors, etc.), but often will stop the pros list at 'style' or 'look'. There are practical pros in the design, though. This car is a crossover coupé, and once its design is fixed You have three options: no back doors, front hinged back doors, rear hinged back doors with or without the central pillar. The solution that maximizes the accessibility is the rear hinged back doors without the central pillar. It is in principle a trade off with the need to open the front doors first, but that is not at a disadvantage with the no-back-doors solution, while offering quite a more comfortable access to the back. Respect to the standard front hinged doors, my experience with cars that have a similar design of the rear compartment is that they can be surprisingly uncomfortable to move through, really cramped. The MX-30 avoids this problem.

Sorry, but do you hear yourself? Honestly? You know it’s 2021, right? There are FAR better EVs on the market at this price range. EVs that give you more range, more car, a better interior and without the minuses. By the way, a front-hinged rear door would have made it FAR easier to get in and out, even in this shape car. Look at the Toyota CH-R for example. Easier to use, more practical and more comfortable.

If You want to consider my argument, then it is that any car (actually any thing) is judged by what we want to do with it, that in choosing our tools we should consider what they are designed for and their actual capacity resulting from those design choices. This is no excuse for poor design, of course. But poor design is quite different than being designed for a certain use, and thus being poor for other, not intended, uses. For instance, if the MX-30 limited range was the result of poor efficiency in comparison with the competition, it would be a minus. But instead it has limited range because they made the decision to put on it a small battery which they assessed to give enough range for the intended use. This is a choice that might or might not fit Your needs, but it is not bad execution, per se. I think that we would agree that the choice on the range of a diesel car or of an EV are very different. If there is space there are not a lot of cons to increase the capacity of a plastic fuel tank, but for an EV a battery twice or thrice the size has a significant impact on the consumption of resources and their recycling impact at the end of life. So, for what are we requiring larger batteries? Again, it is a matter of the scenario of intended use, if the extra battery is not going to be used in that scenario, it is only dead weight to bring along worsening the efficiency, etc. It is not necessary to agree with Mazda, but is it true that today's batteries have a huge life cycle impact? Yes. Is it true that they weight a lot? Yes. Is it true that for a 100 km per day commuting, 250 days per year, recharging at home during the night, or a 200 km commuting, if You can recharge both at home and at work, this car have You covered with its small battery? Yes. Is it true that if You need to travel 500 km or more regularly, this is definitely NOT the car You need? Yes. You can make similar considerations for speed and acceleration, do You need more than 140 km/h top speed? Do You need to go 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds? Then this is not the car for You. If You don't need those performances, do You need the more powerful, more heavy, more power hungry engines that they require? No, You don't. I don't know how this car is priced in Your country respect to other models, so I can't comment on that. Here in Italy it is very competitively priced. Of course, having smaller batteries helps there too. And we do want to pay less if it has smaller batteries and less powerful engines, independently of Mazda design choices. The interiors are good, very good for the price, then it is a preference of styles. I really like the displays and control layout, as my preferences are against the distracting "touchy" mess of some other cars. I have not tried the C-HR back compartment, but it looks that they managed a good design of the very large doors (relatively to the size of the back of the car), it seems a good example. The MX-30 achieves a comfortable access and exit with smaller doors, thanks to the fact that they are rear hinged, but it is true that smaller doors are not necessarily a plus for us. It is still a lot better than the similar cars I actually tried, I'm thinking some DS models. I would put a critic on the fact that the chassis is not optimized for an electric car, in the sense that the car just don't need the whole size of its front (in the EV configuration at least), and it might be (?) heavier than it needs to be. But I like the design of the car, and they would need to change it to "fix" that. Also, the use of the internal space for the given volume is not the best overall, but the best overall is not a crossover coupé, it's a Fiat Stilo SW or a Fiat Multipla, and even Fiat stopped producing those, or a van... for what it is, I find it is good. Remember, it is not a family car. But You can have children seats in the back, and You'll discover that those rear hinged doors are good when You have to put children in and fasten their belts, as the rear hinged doors don't cut Your access/exit route. In a parking lot there is a limitation resulting from the need to open the front door enough to allow the opening of the rear door, while having the passenger fitting in the space left by the front door. It is a cumbersome maneuver, and even more so when we are not used to it. I was surprised that I didn't need more than 60 cm of space to do it, which is just the space needed to avoid interference between the doors, and not more than I would need to enter conventional doors. I am slim, though.

The simple fact is that the Nissan Leaf and the Hyundai products are better sized, more roomy, have better range, better performance and better technology than this car, all at the same, competitive price and none of your fantasy supports your claims. Oh and putting in a child seat through those doors is FAR more difficult than with rear hinged doors (clearly you haven’t done either) as the latches are all the way in the seat.

This car is neither practical ( for the price) , nor a status symbol, or fun to drive ( 0-60 in 9 plus seconds? For electric)? I see this car is not selling more than 5k units in a year , if they are lucky.

I do a 34 mile commute daily. I never do more than 60 miles in one day, ever. I used to own a Mazda MX-3 Coupe which I sorely miss. This would replace it nicely. Mazda, take my money already! p.s. These will be very cost effective as second hand purchases - and they’ll still be in excellent condition because it’s a very high quality design and product. 😊❤

In the winter, the range in this car will be roughly 60 - 70 miles. So that means that you will need to charge the batteries from 0 to 100% every other day, or charge it every day from 50% to full. That isn't going to be doing much good to the batteries in the long-term (and I'm a EV fan). My jaw dropped when I heard the range.

It's using the powerful high-speed chargers that is a problem - and by the way, the BMS on this EV allows a maximum of 37kWh charging speed - even less in winter. I am okay with those specs - I fully agree it will not suit everyone. I'm 63 years old. This would probably be my last car. I'm retiring in 3 years! The MX-30 suits me perfectly 🥰 Long journeys? I'll take a coach, train or plane. This will get me around my big city. I'll be lucky to do 40 miles in one day max.

This car will only make sense once the rotary range extender engine is fitted. Either way, always go full electric.

Full electric car range is still too poor at the moment to suit everybody. If (as it is for me) a semi-regular journey is: 200 miles/ Stay overnight somewhere with no charger/ 200 miles home, then the current crop of full electric cars are nowhere near good enough to do that journey without wasting a lot of time at a soul-destroying service station. And I more frequently do 70+ mile daily journeys (again with no charger at destination) which is beyond the range of conventional PHEVs. But yes - the medium-battery-plus-rotary-range-extender drivetrain would suit me and I'd be full electric almost all the time, without lugging around the dead weight of a huge battery which most days I wouldn't use. (Admittedly there'll be a little weight in the rotary engine + generator but I bet it'll be quite compact/light compared to an extra 200kg of battery or whatever.) I just wish they'd put that drivetrain into a more practical body without the stupid doors.

Lockdown becomes a lot easier to implement if they just shut off the electric. Hard pass. I’ll keep the CX-9. My third row is more comfortable and has more headroom than the rear seats in this vehicle do.

@@davidy7004 Exactly this. I loved my i3 with REx (30K miles, but £76 of petrol used), but preferred the build of the Maxda CX-5. Put a REx on this (I know they plan to), lose the suicide doors and remove the stupid internal artificial engine noise and I would buy one.

In the same way that the Honda e and Mini Electric have deliberately small batteries, Mazda claim it is to provide better handling for what is, after all, being marketed as an urban runaround, plus why it is so relatively inexpensive. But, yes, a 'real-world' range of sub-100 miles makes it a tough sell...!

Perfect second car, really good to drive. Interior stylish, comfortable. I will buy it.

Think 1999 Prius. Science experiment. 100 mile range? 2021?

It's a great looking car. Shame about the range which is extremely poor.

@@mrlintonious The latch for the front door, that would normally be in the B pillar, is in the rear door and it only locks if the front door slides into it from the outside, not inside. Ever check out a van’s doors? It’s the same.

And that means that if you enter through the passenger side in the back and there isn't someone sitting in front of you, then you can't close both doors from the inside. What an impractical design, they need to go back to the drawing board with this one.

In North America there have been a few vehicles with that design already and no one liked it: Honda Element (a 100% American Honda), Saturn SC coupe, and various pick-ups. Pick-up trucks sort of work as the space behind is considered more for utility than passengers. If you regularly have passengers then you’d get a “crew cab” proper 4-door version.

I find it hedious and it really is so behind the KIA/Hyundai models. Japanese electric cars have a long way to go. They spent way more time than everyone else sleeping on the hybrid wagon...

havnt you noticed? I mean they always sleep cause they want to perfect whatever it is they are building.. Unlike tesla, or vw who let out infotainment screens which don't work and fix them along the way. Me i personally prefer the slightly outdated but working tech. But i guess being a test dummy has its, appeal

The idea is to enter the rear from the curbside, there is a tab/pull on the front passenger seat.

@@TheDannyWinther If you want a car to not go anywhere except to the shops then it might be nice for you, any car can be fun if you know how to drive. I have driven many cars and a Lotus is fun, any of the MG's I have driven from a 1930 MG M Type right through 1950's, 1960's, 1970's and 1980's is fun, the MG ZS i s very nice to drive, I would not call it fun like a Mini Cooper but it is fine for those who want a good family car and want to go somewhere.

@@barrierodliffe4155 The MG is not British anymore, they have been bought by the Chinese. Did you not know? I test drove the ZS EV, and It handled nowhere as good as the MX-30 imo. And like I said I rarely drive more than 50 km a day, so I don't see your fictional "problem".

Why is the rear seats always cramped when people review mazdas?

I like the idea of a small electric box for low range daily use, and this car looks beautiful. but the price makes it a head scratcher.

Some time ago a French plane maker failed by making a short range airliner for internal flights. Airlines wanted a plane that did both long and short flights. This car will fail because of the short range. Mazdas argument is that most journeys are less than 100 miles. Correct but there are times when you want to go further so you either buy another car or hire one? It's an expensive car to have to do that. So people will go for longer range. Big mistake to make and Mazda can only save it by making a long range model.

I really wanted to like this car. The style, the shape and above all else, the usual classy, refined and upmarket feeling interior as always from recent Mazdas.....but the rear doors are just unacceptable for one thing. The battery range is frankly appalling when you consider smaller class cars have better range and the acceleration and top speed is just enough to ensure you'll never experience that thrill and confidence of pulling away from another car at the lights. I'm currently looking to buy an EV but this MX-30 is not even in the running unfortunately. What an embarrassing flop for Mazda.

It's all about quality. I just can not bring myself to buy a Chinese EV. The Japanese without doubt make the best quality reliable electronic products. Have done for decades. And there is nothing more electronic than a electric vehicle. There are so many horror stories about EVs. This I would trust to be reliable when the warranty runs out. Mazda has thought about this machine. I have a Mitsubishi I-miev and it has half the range of this. I know from experience that this range is enough for a city vehicle. I also don't want a 4 door family/geriatric/conservative vehicle. It's more practical than a 2 door. I think this is a good looking good design and high quality vehicle.

Love that it has physical controls. I hate the big tablet in the Tesla. I don't want to have to look at what i am pressing when I am driving.

Yet the Tesla has good range and looks and is a very good car, Mazda is late to the EV Market and think they can sell a car that would have been just about ok ten years ago.

What a pity, I have always liked Mazda, that range kills it.

The range is more than sufficient for the typical daily drive (in Europe). But you should able to charge at home.

When he said the range I stopped watching. Until then I was about to book a test drive.

Mazda purposely mad the range short because they are playing it safe with the EV market which is very smart Mazda. This will only be their entry level EV because they plan to make many more electric models. How many of you make trips over 100 miles daily. Honda has done the same with their E model and only made the max range 140 miles.

I think a beautiful built car but the range is simply to short of a car of that size it could be a much better car if they give it a range extender engine like the bmw i3 Rex. But the rear seating area is very poor with those ridiculous doors. I really think mazda are missing a trick it could of been a much better car. A shame because mazda make some great cars.

Think I'd go for an MG5, it's estate body and regular family styling means a good cheap all rounder with decent range. Ok so the brand isn't as plush when keeping up with the neighbours but for an Electric family car can you want more for the money?

@Stephen Graham small crossovers tend to be the domain of the young family buyer. Quite what classification this falls into is quite confusing, it doesn't seem to neatly fit any usual market. The MG5 especially in long range Exclusive trim is very well kitted out and offers good range to boot for relatively little money compared to in some cases smaller EV's whether you have a family or are a motorway munching business/sales person

Even if you "know" you will never do many long journeys - trust me don't buy it. You will probably be committing to 2 years+ in it and things WILL Change. I went for the Cupra Born instead as its actually more of a school run car but you just know that time will come when you need to drive about 70miles and back in the same day...

This is a SUB compact SUV. It's not supposed to be cavernous!

I am a Mazda fan. Past cars. Mazda MPV, Mazda 3. Still own a 18 CX-9. Love them all. Recently bought an ID.4. Still CX-9 is the best to drive and looks like MX-30 has similar driving manners. Would have waited for MX-30, if Mazda had a better electrification strategy. Their pricing is good, though their US EPA range is just 100 miles on a full charge. It is a terrible range and makes it worthless for 35K USD. Even worse idea is to extend the range (and the price) by making it a hybrid. It only helps them to extend the life of their ICE technologies. Neither good for the planet nor the drivers. Mazda wake up and build a dedicated electric platform like VW, Ford, Nissan, Kia or Hyundai.

"Mazda comes straight in, no messing around" eh? they are slowest cab off the rank to develop an EV...what on earth did that line mean?

I too thought the range was bad, before my 24hr test drive. To have a longer range all-electric you need a bigger battery: this car weighs 1,600kg which is lighter than most and handles well as a result. It's not for everyone of course. For the mileage and journeys I do, I'd rather have a car that is fun to drive and well built and thought out. They forgot to mention the HUD, one of the best of all cars, not just in this segment. The range extender version would make it so much more versatile, and appeal to a greater audience: it is rumoured to use a 300cc/30KW (or thereabouts) wankel motor that recharges the battery: on the occasional long trip (>200 miles) you can just fill up the petrol tank and get another 100 or so miles in less time it would take a fast charger (if you find one that is...). For the next 5 years or so, as the electric car charging infrastructure improves, it makes sense. The real negative point IMHO is the fast charging: it only supports up to a theoretical 50KWh, but not really, only charging at 30-40KWh, and the curve really tricle-charges past 60%: this car would have benefitted from 150KWh charging and a better charging curve. When will car reviewers actually test the cars they drive??? I test drove it for 24 hours, and despite what the review says, I did have it in max regen setting, and in town I was achieving well over >4miles/KWh average with the A/C on. Plus it has a heat pump as standard (unlike some rivals) and if combined with heated seats and heated steering wheel, in the winter you can improve the range by turning down the heater. Not for everyone: but this is a car that is really enjoyable to drive. Much better built than many rivals too. I am sure Mazda will come up with many more all-electric models that will suit a wider audience.

@@barrierodliffe4155 Let it go, honestly. MX-30 is not for you, it has its audience and fortunately or unfortunately you are not the one. Your frame of mind is stuck on the "short range" mantra. They never claimed this car will be suitable for all, "one size fits all" was not the goal for this EV.

@@oneclaydoll The MX 30 is not for many people, it lacks range, lacks performance, is not even light and there are better cars but if it is what you like then fine. Just one rather important point, it might work for a short commute to work but what if you want to go away at the weekend?

A vaguely oversized Allegro, perhaps. That’s not a bad thing. The Nissan Juke (Puke?) looks even more like an Allegro on steroids. Still, the Allegro design was rather beautiful - it was let down by the mechanicals initially, but it wasn’t anywhere near that bad as is oft described.
