Instead of a day at the bike park riding the chairlift, or getting shuttles in your buddy's truck - hows about being your own shuttle.
The Alpine Trail E series (electric mountain bike / emtb / e-emtb / e bike / emountain bike) of bikes is a great option to be your own shuttle service. Get more laps of your local enduro trails by climbing faster and leaving some gas in the tank to handle the descents.
The Alpine Trail has a familiar geometry so is perfect for the skilled rider looking to compliment the miles they put on their regular full suspension mountain bike.

Thanks for the effort really appreciated it. The only place you can buy these in Australia is online so this was really useful. This is one of the cheapest ebikes (of any note) available here and at 7k not really cheap. Love, 'bulbousicity' I think it needs to be adopted into general use ;)

An excellent detailed review - and thank you for pointing out [early on] the fundamental difference between a pedal-assist e-bike and one with a throttle... hopefully one day all the Pinkbike knobbers will stop calling these 'motorbikes'.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes it is a shame that the over powered throttle bikes really muddy the waters and the distinction between pedal-assist style bikes and electric motorbikes.
The E1(reviewed here) is under $5k the E2 is $6300. Other than that. Great thorough review. 👍
Now I wondered if I bought this for my wife instead of the Rift Zone.. Question though, does the rift zone 1 and 2 rims are pre taped? Im looking to convert ours.. Thanks!
What's the average range of the battery, asking for someone who is looking at their cheap Alpine Trail E1's currently on their site.

That is a really difficult answer to give. Rider weight, terrain, habits with power level impact thins so much. I think the worst range we've heard of was a really big heavy guy who only used max power and always at top speed was killing a battery in 40 to 50 km.
not sure why marin did not instrall shimano ep8 on this, I think that's the only thing missing.

EP8 is on the next model up, the Alpine Trail E2, which also has upgraded components.
Why all the 2021 models are now described as 2022? Is that a marketing move in order to increase the prizes without actually doing anything new? Thank you

Marin (and many other brands) are carrying over some models that will be the same in 2022 as they were in 2021. To be fair, this is the first one we've received so 2021 models sort of never existed.
