This is a Motormouth couple car review of the Lincoln Corsair PHEV plug-in hybrid compact SUV. If you are looking for another plug-in hybrid option in the luxury category, take a look at the Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring. The Corsair PHEV has a 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid system with an eCVT, 266 combined horsepower and 45 km/28 miles of EV range, standard AWD.
Fuel economy is very good getting 3.1Le/100km, 78 MPGe combined. When the battery is depleted, you will get 6.9L/100km, 34 MPG city, 7.3L/100km, 32 MPG highway and 7L/100km, 33 MPG combined.
The Lincoln Corsair PHEV comes standard with adaptive suspension giving it a smooth and comfortable ride with a quiet cabin which is typical of a Lincoln and a priority for the brand. It soaks up the speed bumps and other road imperfections. There are plenty of standard features like an 8” touchscreen with Sync 3, a 12.3” colour display, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, heated power driver and passenger seats, driver seat memory, leather trimmed upholstery, a panoramic sunroof and a 17” spare tire. Available features include, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, wireless charger, ambient lighting, hands-free tailgate, head-up display and a 14-speaker Revel audio system. Our test model in Artisan Blue has all the extra features including Lincoln Co-Pilot 360 1.5 Plus which includes features like a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist and lane centering assist. Overall, we find the Corsair PHEV to be a good-looking SUV that is comfortable and spacious. I am impressed by how little the gas engine comes on when in EV mode. There are a few things I don’t like, I find the button shifter to be too far away, every time you shift, you have to lean forward. I also find for this price point the 8” touchscreen is too small when non-luxury brands have larger screen options and wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, the Corsair only wired. The Corsair PHEV qualifies for an EV rebate of $2,500 in Canada and a tax credit up to $7500 in the US. The Corsair Plug-in Hybrid starts at $59,700 CAD/$51,810 USD. Price as test $69,500

During my teenage years my Dad drove a couple of Lincolns (Continental Mk IV and a Towncar). So I’ve always had a soft spot for them. That Revel 14(?) premium sound system was probably better than his 8-track player that typically played Kenny Rogers, the Eagles or Joan Biaz/Carole King. Absolutely great memories. Thanks for creating another entertaining video… I think I’ll give my Dad a call and Thank him too!

We have owned one since February. Absolutely love the car and get way better mileage on electric than the EPA range if 28 miles. Electric only range is between 36 to 40 miles. I just look forward to driving the car. Can’t say that about many other cars. We have driven the car over 5,000 miles and it just keeps amazing me and my wife, how nice it is and the incredible gas mileage you get in a luxury car. Lincoln has really nailed it. Gary and Carol

I've owned a Corsair GT for 8 months now and am delighted with it. Most of my daily trips are less than 30 RT miles, which put me up to 105 MPG. The overall lifetime MPG is still 66 MPG after a couple road trips and 3,500 electric miles out of 6,400 travelled overall. Two pleasant surprises for me are the heads up display and "active bending, speed dependant" headlights. Thanks to the heads up display, I hardly ever have to take my eyes off the road. The headlights are as sophisticated as a Saab I once owned. When traveling at lower speed, the headlights cast a wider path; as vehicle speed increases, the illumination path narrows to avoid blinding drivers headed in the other direction. The vehicle lowers high bean illumination over half a block away from cars coming in the other direction. I have never had to manually adjust between high and low beam illumination: Grade A+ for this feature. I took the car out to an isolated winding mountain road (FR 333 in the Sandia foothills) to test the headlight "dynamic bending" adjustment. The vehicle apparently uses radar and lane markings to anticipate curves in the road to illuminate the side of the road BEFORE the driver needs to turn the steering wheel in that direction. It works so smoothly that a passenger might not notice it at first; as the driver, it's slightly eerie in a good way to see the headlights cast light in a direction you are about to steer into! This feature works flawlessly. Bravo Lincoln! Most of my daily commute is via boulevards in Albuquerque's NE Heights, so I'm constantly using the adaptive cruise control with active speed monitoring and lane centering. The vehicle is quite good at recognizing changes in speed limit and adjusting the speed accordingly. In stop and go traffic I can trust it to speed up and slow down with vehicles around me. On a recent 1,400 mile road trip these features combined with the massage seats definitely made us less tired after long stretches behind the wheel. On the interstate, if we were caught behind a slow moving vehicle, when I turned on the left hand tuen signal to go around the slower car in front of me, the vehicle automatically increased speed slightly to safely maneuver around the other vehicle. As for the ADAS, I'd give both the speed sign recognition and braking an "A" grade. As for lane centering, it's good on the freeway - but in town where there are a lot of changes in lane markings and curb variations, the system is conservative and does not recognize a left hand curb (when traveling in the left hand lane of a multi-lane Boulevard) as a boundary. Therfore I give the lane keeping recognition a grade of C+. The Service Manager at Corley's Lincoln believes I should see an improvement in this area with future software downloads as Lincoln engineers collect more data from cars on the road. I initially placed a deposit on the electric Volvo XC40. Both cars cost around $62k. But the Lincoln offered several features unavailable on the Volvo. Online research with an XC40 owner's forum clinched it for me when a Volvo owner in Texas said he only gets 165 miles from a full charge in August when traveling 85 mph on the interstate with the AC running. With a full gas tank and fully charged battery, my GT has 330-340 miles of range. If you are in the market for a luxury PHEV or electric SUV, give the Corsair serious consideration. It's the kind of product wherein you will continue to discover new, thoughtful design details after several months of ownership.

The Corsair is my daily driver and 2 charges to 95% {28 miles) a week covers 99 44/100% of my driving. No gas purchases since mid January. I couldn’t be happier here in central Texas.

If you gave the Corsair such a positive review, why is it that it did not make your 2022 top ten list ? It did not even receive Honorable Mention at the end of the top ten videos. It also did not make your top 5 luxury compact SUV list. And DID NOT recieve an Honorable Mention at the end of the 2021 video taped in January 2022 or the 2022 version video taped in January of 2023 Is the Lincoln Corsair that bad of a vechiel that it is not comparable to the others that continously make your list of top 5 or top 10? Another honest review. As the owner of a 21 Explorer ST I couldn't agree more with the comments on the legacy technology. Ford/Lincoln are constantly putting old multimedia systems in their newest vehicles. SYNC3 is EOL, shouldnt be installed in anything after 2019 build date. Unfortunately SYNC4 isn't that much better but it is an improvement over SYNC3. Multimedia has always been a weak spot with Ford, they need to hire an Engineer from the U-Connect team.

Is there anyway to call out Toyota on the unequal distribution of Rav4 Primes in U.S. vs Canada? They are available like any other regular cars in U.S. But when it comes Canada - chip shortage, supply chain, production issues etc. etc. all sorts of reasoning starts coming up. Even if the U.S. has a much larger population, the 2 or3 year wait times in Canada still remains unjustified.

Had a first year Corsair ( 20 ). Drove nice, looked great but, It was all gremlins and glitches. When I first picked it up, the hatch jammed shut, wouldn’t open . Every quarter we got a recall or problem that needed repairs. Sold it after a year and a half. Not ready for prime time.

Traditional American luxury remains appealing for those, who don't want to seen in the more mainstream German and Japanese style of damping. I still associate Lincoln with Town Car, Continential and Mark series. That's despite Ford vintage's S-Type based LS was a really good sports sedan, or a luxury sedan with interior that has typical Ford cheapness. If Navigator is the modern day Town Car, Consair must be modern day Continential?

What’s even more sad is you’d think with the way the screen is just stuck in the top of the dash, that it could be updated in older models as well. Give owners of older models the ability to upgrade to the bigger screen with sync 4.

This is too round for me, if you notice most modern cars are going back to sharp-edged squared bodies. This could be good back in early to mid-2000s. Everybody knows ford escape reliability. The best thing is lincoln continental, they should have made a lincoln continental suv which would give Lexus good competition.

Okay Zach and Andrea ... Don't let your handle, "Motormouth," become who you actually are. Between about 5:50 and 6:10 in the video, adjunct to Andrea discussing her displeasure with the size of the steering wheel (looks about the same size as my '07 RAV4), Zach "sells" himself by quipping, "I wonder what the average age of a Corsair buyer is, Andrea ... I'm guessing they're collecting their pensions." There is nothing that links this vehicle with a persons age. Ageism has no place in these reviews. I realize this was 11 months ago and surely Zach's suburban dweeb judgement and maturity have improved since production, but his statement nonetheless made me want to reach through the screen and grab him by the stacking swivel. I am indeed a sexagenarian. I am active, sharp, successful (three pensions, actually) and I really love what I'm seeing about this car. What Zach could have intelligently said was, "I feel the typical Corsair buyer is one who wishes to achieve and can afford refined luxury in a compact crossover SUV." The viewer can take it from there, no matter the years. Someday this duo might get there. I don't know what else Zach does for a living but, unless he's in the pit of a car dealership, I would love to see what happens if he were to quip ageist comments among a group in a professional environment. Oh and btw ... my 33-year old daughter-in-law thinks this vehicle is awesome, but she can't afford one. Why I'd purchase: Amazing Consumer Reports score of 84, and at-once beautiful, efficient and has utility. I need to understand why, being based on the Escape platform, why the escape only ranks a CR score of 70. It FAR exceeds the reliability ratings of the Caddy XT4 (CR Score 58) owned by my neighbor in his 40s. Zach ... Andrea ... these reviews live on KZread in perpetuity unless you take them down, so commentary like the ones I'm referencing are just as fresh today as they were 11 months ago. You could now regain your credibility by reviewing the 2023 or projected 2024 version of this car, including the status of tech updates you mentioned were needed in the 2022 model, and again ... make it for everybody.

I'd been watching your reviews for weeks, among others', and enjoyed them until it became clear you don't value seniors in your audience. Well, ya don't get off that easy ... I'll keep listening to your reviews as part of the story and consider the insular source, but just perhaps, since Zach's quip drew this response, now published and visible in feedback to the review, more care might be taken in what you're saying ... making sure your bias doesn't slip into some other category mmkay?

What a piece of garbage, why bother. If you can plug in daily at home get a real EV. The range is a joke and once you use up the EV range with some spirited driving its a gas pig so any benefit of an EV is gone and your still using a lot of gas. You also need to maintain a full ICE engine and a complicated hybrid setup.

  • @gieb6428

"IF" you can plug in daily at home! At 34 miles/gallon for a car this size it is not a gas pig. I have the same hybrid system in my car and after 97000 miles and it works perfectly. The maintenance on my hybrid is much less than a any gas car. My experience UPDATE: I now own a 2022 corsair gt and get 36-46 miles of electric range. Great car.
