2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz | Absolutely Gorgeous

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We do a review on the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz. This next generation SUV based trucks is too hot to handle. The new design is what Hyundai does well blending features and options at a good price. Although it sacrifices the bed size, it was designed for the urban warrarior. What is the better option, Ford Maverick or mid-sized trucks like, Chevy Colorado, Ford Ranger, and, Toyota Tacoma.

    Hey Mark, Just wanted to say I'm beyond grateful for what you and Jack are creating. I always watch your videos with my sister and it became more of a ritual than anything else. It made us both have such a fond and lovely memories, it brought us together through the toughest times and we had some of our most joyful moments watching your videos. Today is my birthday and this video is the perfect gift to celebrate with my sister. I've wrote similar comment before which we were more than happy that you replied to. But I'll never get tired of saying that you produce the best reviewing content not only on KZread. If my father was still around, I'm sure he would agree. My love of cars brought me here, but your unmatchable passion and effort towards what I love is what kept me coming. Hope you have a lovely year and continue producing more content for the love of the memories you made me have. Thank you. I'll always be grateful.

First time I whipped out to pass someone, I looked at the speedo by the time I was approaching the other vehicle's driver's door and went F&$K! I was in stunt driving ticket territory in seconds. And they nail it - size wise, yes, it competes with the Maverick on paper. But they are two VERY different vehicles with to VERY different intended buyers. It's exactly the "lifestyle" truck I was looking for ... commute to work all week, do a weekend dump run, haul the kayak to the lake, grab the lawnmower to cut someone's grass, or fill the LOCKING bed full of stuff on a Costco run. Love it. It's a blast to drive every day, in any weather. (Fantastic in snow!!)

    I think when you want to have a working relationship with the people that allow you to speak on their behalf of the car they leant to you, exercising verbal restraint is probably a good policy, so they choose their words wisely. The number one thing I liked about Top Gear UK is the way they would blast American cars for their general lack of effort and shortcomings, with the Corvette being their preferred punching bag, and I think it stung alot because C6 and future models got better. How many future Hyundai's do you think they would get if their review was along the lines of "...this thing is too small to live up to anything but marketing hype, like an overland tent on top of a Subaru forester that never leaves the asphalt". Its another overly expensive crossover with an open trunk aimed squarely at the Subaru crowd nothing more, nothing less. A set of BFG all terrain KO2 tires would go a long ways towards some visual ruggedness.

    That's a smartass vehicle, easy to see it as a new category, love the thoughtful body design, looks good to protect against salt rust in snowing environments... also the mil-spec looking simple heavy build on the chassis is wicked bulletproof and simple, who don't like that... these will look insane with custom wheels and colorful coil over package...ya it's kind of exciting actually seeing something new that doesn't lick nutz

    Excellent review, guys. Kudos for noting the performance of the optional 2.5L turbo 4 cylinder engine. At my last count it's standard or available in at least NINE different KIA, Hyundai, and Genesis models and has received universal praise in virtually every application. As far as the Santa Cruz is concerned, I'm reminded of a review I read a more than a year ago of the VW Amarok, a similar vehicle that's popular in Australia. (It's not coincidental, I think, that Australia is a major market for Hyundai, as well.) At the time, I was somewhat puzzled by the appeal of the Amarok. Want a pickup? Buy a truck, I thought. Want a CUV? Get one, I thought. In response to my comment another viewer noted that the Amarok was far more pleasing to drive on Australia's sketchy roads than a traditional pickup. And if you're returning home with a dead deer, putting it in the bed is preferable to sharing the passenger cabin with the corpse. OK, I get it. And I think you're correct that comparisons between the Maverick and the Santa Cruz are misplaced. Ford will sell many, many more Mavericks, especially when fleet sales are taken into account. I have a friend who owns a local construction company and has ordered 4 Hybrid Mavericks to supplement his fleet of eight F-150s. Since his work is mainly local and is limited to the work week, the Maverick is ideal for his needs. On the other hand, I suspect that Hyundai will sell as many Santa Cruz "SAVs" as they can build, virtually all of which will go to individual consumers.

  • @AllianaCordova

    I'd call it a lifestyle truck. They might sell well, I guess. A lot of people seem to "want" a truck so why not get this? The Mav's a bit more like a "tiny" truck. I'd go for the Mav but that's because I don't need/want the lux and pianotouch tech and I wouldn't mind bumping into things as much with it. Nicely done video

  • @jefffaller8474

    @jefffaller8474

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes, a lot of people want a truck, but the reality of 2022 is that you're looking at well upwards of $50G for a new one (routinely approaching $100G), which while not out of reach for alot of people well established in careers, its way out of reach to most in their 20's which is the sweet spot for this vehicle. For reference, in 2004 you could buy a brand new Z71 Silverado with a 5.3L V8, 4x4, 4 doors, with a 6 foot bed for $24G out the door. Now, you get a Santa Cruz for $10-$20G more, which can't anything near what a 2004 actual truck could do. When consumers complain that their getting screwed, this is exactly what their talking about.

    I REALLY wanted to buy this truck. Loved everything about it... on paper... Then I saw it in real life. Dam IT IS SMALL. The dealbreaker was the bed. 4' bed just isn't usable. As someone who's owned a truck for the past 20 years - I can say a 4' bed would have eliminated 90% of the trips I made with a 6' bed. And the wheel well arches eat up a good chunk of the tiny bed. - Insult to injury was the price. Comparably spec'd, the Honda Ridgeline is way way way more truck for the 'same' money. You get more room in the front seats. You get more room in the back seats. The back seat storage is 2x bigger/2x more efficient in the Ridgeline. The Ridgeline bed is 12" longer AND 8" WIDER and has NO wheel arch protrusions. And the in-bed trunk is 2x bigger. The interior is also nicer, especially since the Ridgeline has a 'lighter' upper interior color. The Cruz interior, already cramped, is murdered out in all black - and it really feels like you are sitting in a dark cave. Oh, final nail - the Ridgeline has a VOLUME KNOB...

    Yeah agree but you should be thinking of this as a "certified pre-owned" option. In a year, this vehicle with, say, 15k miles will be half this price while the ridgeline will be 75 to 80% of its price. An used one from the dealer will retain the long warranty hyundai and kia are known for.

    Subaru really needs to bring back the Baja. There is a cult following, its values have risen, indicating consumer interest, and it's a perfect counterpoint to all those lifestyle trucks that lots of companies are producing. Subaru is the most lifestyle-focused automotive company on Earth and I think all those city people who "love" the outdoors and buy Subarus for that outdoor lifestyle image would be ecstatic to see the Baja come back. It has good proportions, and if Subaru made it a 5-seater I think it would be a sales success
