    Mine has finally arrived after a 3 month wait, only done 100 km so far but I think it’s a match made in heaven,really love every aspect of it..what more can I say.💕well a year on and still love the bike loads ..one minor annoyance is the buffering from the standard screen, I’ve tried an add on deflector which helps to some extent but am happier with a mini WRS screen as it gives a more equal air flow,over all it’s a fantastic bike for all ages and experience of rider..love your honest reviews Mark..

    Nice little summing up there Mark. As you know, I have the 2017 model, just before the introduction of the 19 inch front wheel and the slipper clutch and I toured from Somerset up to Scotland last year without using ANY motorways. I filled up each morning and on 3 separate days, did 250 miles without having to refuel. Definitely be getting a new model after this year. Thanks again for your sensible reviews

    Good review that really sums up the bike -- I've noticed reviewers always seem so happy riding the 500X. I've love to see more small adventure bikes like this on the market. 15,500 km on my '19 500R and it's been flawless since day one, averaging 2.7-3.3 L/100 km. Having had both smaller and bigger/faster bikes, this is about the sweet spot for the public roads here in Canada.

    Things are going your way *Thirsty Fox.* Later this year the debut of the 2023 motorcycle models will probably see: - a new Honda CB500 Scrambler Verizon - a brand new Honda midrange TransAlp - a new Kawasaki Z400 retro style bike and a few others. You can thank high gas prices for this partly. God bless.

    Hey @Thirsty Fox - I have been contemplating between Kawasaki Versys 650 vs the Honda CB500. Still yet to freeze. Any suggestions ? TIA.

  • @Thirsty_Fox

    @Thirsty_Fox

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@ArunKumar-iv4si Depends on your needs and wants. The 650 is a 'sports tourer' with more power and is better for long freeway (120 km/h+) tours, generally better on the road... but it costs more to buy, fuel, and insure. The 500X is more economical and better on unpaved roads and light trails, with longer fuel range. I've only had the 500X for a couple of weeks and still getting used to it. I think the 500X is a better "all-rounder" with commuting, light touring, and some off-road, while the Versys is a better tourer, probably more fun on the roads in general but more expensive, too.

    Having spent all day riding a Honda NT1100 demo I got back on my 2013 CB500x expecting it to feel like an underpowered weedy bicycle. It didn't - in fact it (re) impressed me with its perkiness and how smooth the parallel twin was with its 180 degree crank - and as nimble as you like. The X series is a genuine great GADA bike. Highly recommended.

    Hi Mark, I mentioned that I was buying this bike a little while ago and I took delivery on March 1st without a road test, my choice. It took a little while to get used to the short gear lever , having being used to heel and toe change on my Guzzi California, false neutrals and general agricultural feel over the last 40+ years. I've now done 500 miles on it including to NC250 in Northumberland and I absolutely love it ♥ The positives and negatives in your reviews were spot on and even the negatives are not really an issue. I'd just like to give you a big👍👍👋 for your honest review on this great bike and let you know it will be my last bike and definitely a keeper. By the way, I'm keeping the Guzzi as well 😂

    Mark, great review and shows the value of such bikes. Bigger is not always better! On another subject when are you going to test the Royal Alloy TG or GP300 (Poole Moto) and maybe arrange a back to back with a Vespa GTS300 hpe (Deardens’). There would be a lot of interest nationwide as no one has done a back to back test on both of them. Scootering mag did a very short video clip but it was not a test. Just a thought!

    Thanks for the review, Mark! Makes me confident I did the right choice, because I ordered one in red which will hopefully arrive by the end of May. It will be my first own bike. Although I have ridden more powerful bikes (Z900, Suzuki V Strom and Bandit 650) I think the power will be enough for my relaxed country roads touring. I test rode the CB500F and the engine really is fun, especially above 6000rpm when it starts pulling. But at the same time it's so freaking economical with its low fuel consumption. However I will probably be a unicorn with this bike in BMW GS land (Germany). 😄

    You must be filled with anticipation and excitement whilst waiting for your new motorcycle - and well you should. I enjoyed my 2015 model (black with a yellow stripe) soooo much that last month I upgraded it to a near new (only 1,000 km, 4 month old) 2021 model (Grand Prix red). I’d ridden 20,000 kms on my 2015 model and have already ridden 3,000 km on my new machine (here in SW Australia). This is the 7th motorcycle I’ve owned (since I passed my licence in 1973) and it is simply brilliant. It doesn’t break records in any one specific area, but it does EVERYTHING more than adequately - nimble, comfortable, beautiful to look at, reliable, smooth and SUPER economical in terms of both fuel economy and maintenance. Get excited mate - you’re in for a great ride!

    Would be really useful if reviewers gave servicing cost figures for a new bike over the warranty period. I took a Triumph Trident/Tiger Sport 660 for a test ride a few days ago and was given £261 as the annual service cost, £302 for the 10k service, and a whopping £685 for the 20k service. Now seriously considering the CB500X as I assume servicing is much more reasonable but will have to check this out.

    just changed my NC750X for this bike (the 2022) CB500X - and love it. Its so much fun to ride and so easy with the slip and assist clutch - so much so i am thinking of selling my xsr700 as i prefer the CB !! Was concerned about the power as never had a 471CC bike before - it goes really well especially in 4th, 5th and 6th gears - the others are a bit short. If you are looking for a "Do it all bike" - and dont ride too much on the motorway and dont carry a passenger - i really urge you to try one - you may be surprised. Today i completed a 150 Mile "tour"and was absolutely not riding economically and i got 85mpg / 3.3L/100kms - unbelievable !!!

    It depends on what you want. I went from a 98 hp FZ6 sports tourer to the CBR500R and I'm having a lot more fun with it. More playful and get to get on it and use the gears, plenty fast for public roads, and it costs so much less to run. The power is nice and low which I prefer so you can just roll on any time and be off. Having said that, if you're really into speed and acceleration, you may find it too slow by comparison. Where I live you lose your license at 40 or 50km/h over the limit, so bigger bikes are only more fun if you're willing to take that risk.

    @@fearhand12 - it's not really suitable as an 80+mph highway cruiser. It wouldn't be superbly economical at those high speeds either. Also 80mpg is 80mpg Imperial gallon, that's low 70's mpg (US gallon) at 60mph. The NC750 might be considered as a better choice for 80+ mph highway cruising, as it's noted for its comfortable and relaxed demeanour with cruise control. In Australia we are limited to 110km/hour (68mph) max speed limits on interstate highways, but generally 100km/hr is the highway limit, so the 500 as Paul says is sensible and sufficient for that.
