2022 Home Gym Flooring Guide (Save Time and Money with These Tips)

Welcome Everyone!
Today’s video is going to be about Gym Flooring options for your home gym. My personal preference when it comes to the best value is 100% the ¾” 4’x6’ horse stall mats that you can find at a local tractor supply or Rural King. However, the other mats you can buy can come in handy as well. In this video I’ll give all the tips I’ve learned over the past 7 years as I have acquired more and more for my personal gym.

    Best thing I learned is buy all the mats you need at once and do same day delivery. Tractor Supply only charged me $70 to deliver 30 mats. Insanely good deal.

    4 ft. x 6 ft. Thick Rubber Stall Mat at Tractor Supply today in California is $58.99. FML… actually FMstate.

    Lmao, I’m in New York so I feel you there, though not nearly as bad. Yeah when I made the video they had gone up significantly, and now even more so. Inflation sucks. However, check out some competitors like rural king, maybe they are cheaper and you can get a deal with tractor supply by using them for your business!

    Would you recommend horse stall mats for carpet floors as well? Should I put plywood on top of the carpet first and then the rubber mats, or is just rubber mats enough?

  • @MMuniz

    @MMuniz

    10 ай бұрын

    Hmmm tbh if the gym is doing to be there a while, I would remove the carpet and put the mats on the subfloor. The mats will destroy the carpet overtime leaving black residue. Plus, below the carpet is the subfloor which is your plywood

    Any recommendations about how to mitigate/manage odor associated with horse stall mats?

  • @MMuniz

    @MMuniz

    Great question. If you can leave them outside for a couple days this definitely helps air them out. Preferably spread out a little if possible. Like on a drive way. After a few days it should help a ton

    @@MMuniz When do they stop smelling completely? I would like to build my homegym in my bedroom but a bad odor would be a no go.

  • @MMuniz

    @MMuniz

    @@rocksmo3384 in terms of horse stall mats I can’t say that they ever completely are odor free, it will always smell somewhat like a gym (barely noticeable). I think after they have been outside for around 2 weeks I don’t think they will get any less rubber smell sadly. Personally I don’t think this is an issue, it’s only super strong when they are new and first put in an area.

    Let them air out for a few days , sitting on 2x4s to let air go above and below them. This helps a ton. Then if needed use simple green to scrub them top and bottom. But honestly after they air out for a few days it goes away.

    @@MMuniz Yea I got it like a month ago and it's been great the days where I don't feel like going to the gym. lol I feel like that would only work if the manager is also the owner cause most times prices are at a set corporate price.

  • @MMuniz

    @MMuniz

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@citizenoftheyearCC for groceries it definitely won’t work but for a lot of companies you can try. Home Depot for example you can haggle with. Sometimes they will do a 10% price beat if you ask the manager. Proven! It’s crazy but most good managers won’t want to lose the business to a competitor so they will go for the sale. Especially in construction business where a lot of them are paid on revenues/ profits, as long as the year aren’t selling for a loss they are winning

    Great question! Vinyl plank is super easy and only requires a few basic tools like a rubber mallet, hammer, and razor. You can check out home renovision DIY that I have linked, they have a video on how to install luxury vinyl plank just like this one. Or you can just KZread it and there are a bunch of great videos on it. This is exactly what I did to learn
