I’m a Ram guy, however, this is one of the best trim comparison videos of any truck make I have seen. Your presentation of the products comes off as a purely informative video to help the consumers understand a few of the differences in trim levels. In no way did it ever feel like a sales pitch to buy one or the other. This is how all “Trim Comparison” videos should be. Well done. I was not looking at Ford, I will now. Again, excellent presentation.

Both great trucks for sure.My 19' is a Lariat with the 3.5 and 502a package .Absolutely love my truck,if I were to upgrade it would be to a Lariat with PowerBoost

I just upgraded my 19 2.7 Lariat to a 23 Lariat with the v8 Coyote, loving it. Power boost scares me a bit re reliability / complexity.

I have the 22 powerboost , Mine has more features than the XLT shown here with many of the same on the lariat and I have the 7.2kw power system as well. The powerboost is definitely more expensive than the normal XLT, heck more than the lariat shown. So many different options these days when it comes to trucks. I purchased mine "used" with 4,000 miles on it at the time, the guy decided he wanted a longer bed so ordered a whole different truck and I purchased the first. I believe every trim option was added since I watch a lot of powerboost videos and mine just has more features but it was priced higher than the lariat shown here.

You very well could have a highly equipped XLT. You can spec them pretty high, even in the Lariat price range. F-150's sure are very confusing to build, you're right. A lot of different configurations and ways to build it.

One little touch I like much better on the XLT is the Detroit Map trim on the door panel by the lock buttons. It’s a nice little Easter egg that I’m surprised they didn’t carry over to the Lariat.

I picked up an F 150 xlt rental with a V 8 today. My son works for Enterprise and I wanted a long test drive. I currently own a 2021 Tacoma TRD OR. My first impression is the truck is obviously much more powerful and the seats are more comfortable. The ride is not that much better which surprises me since it is a full size truck. I'll drive it for a week and think about it for awhile. My truck fits in the garage a lot easier so we will see.

They are certainly much larger than a mid-size truck like a Tacoma. In terms of the ride quality, it will be similar to the mid-sized class because keep in mind that these trucks are meant to haul and tow serious weight. If they are too soft it would be too unstable. There has to be a middle ground in terms of ride quality and towing stability. Also if you think the V8 is fast, try the EcoBoost engines, you will be even more surprised!

Good breakdown, you cannot get a 4x4 super crew with a 6.5' bed with the 2.7 EcoBoost however, only the 5.5' bed.

Love that 💙 color... And my 2021 XLT Fx4 🤘 I've got the front sensors on my gal. Never noticed the blinkers on the led headlights... 🤩 Fukn looks amazing. Didn't care about upgrading just for the LEDs. The XLT has the turn assist lights that come on when you turn so that's cool and good enough. Second my 2013fx4 Ecoboost had the exact same style LEDs they just didn't follow as you turned the wheel (these light bulbs are not new. New design and following steering yes) But.... Seeing the dayum blinkers man might have done it 💀

Blue is certainly one of the best colours for an F-150! The full LED headlights on Lariat are certainly very sharp looking but may not be necessary for some people especially with the significant price increase. Congrats on the truck!

The one thing I like with the RAM is that it comes with the 4Auto feature for the Big Horn. Truly am torn between spending the extra money on a Lariat for that feature.

4 Auto is a little bit more convenient, yes. But Ford has to differentiate the XLT and Lariat models as much as they can or they would be too similar.

Column shifter is still available with the 302A (HIGH) package on the XLT which is the most popular trim.

Nah. I'm almost forty and finally got a truck with the center console gear shifter after a couple of generations of Ford's having the steering column shifter. Growing up the steering column shifter came on mostly base model f150s. I'm not a teenager anymore so won't be needing the extra space for a third body up front. As far as storage that's what the back seat/floorboards and bed are for👍

Only BIG downside to getting a xlt over lariat is no led taillights and headlights Which makes it look so much better

We totally agree! The full LED on the Lariat's makes it look much more high end and clean looking.

Is the driver door mirror on the XLT autodimming with the rearview center mirror? I believe both mirrors dim with the Lariat but I am unsure of the XLT.

XLT only comes with the interior dimming mirror either as an option or as a standard feature on 302A (High) Package.

I really like the Blue colour I also like the Antimatter blue. I'd like to see a comparison with a lariat and Tremor.

Loved the video comparison. Looking at building an XL or XLT. Trying to figure out if just adding the 40/console/40 gives me rear center console vents on any model or if that option is only available on certain models. Any idea?

It will have the vents in the console, yes. It may have different power outlets depending on the inverter selection but the console seating arrangement has almost identical functionality between trim levels.

I got a loaded 22 xlt powerboost 7.2 sport . The only thing I would of really wanted is the heated steering , I wouldn’t pay for anything else thats offered on the lariat and isn’t on the xlt

Right. Most stuff you can get on a Lariat is offered on XLT. You can option them quite high. Some people may want bluecruise or the nicer interior materials that just isn't offered with XLT. Unfortunately heated steering wheels are being pulled out of most F-150's for 2023 anyway so they are hard to get. Congrats on the truck!

They sure try to make it as confusing as possible with the trim levels. So far he’s mentioned the 302a, FX package and the high country. Not sure this is really a true comparison bw the XLT and Lariat since this XLT version is pretty loaded it seems.

Can you get that exact truck with the 5.0 and column shifter without messing with the tech package?

An XLT is available with a column shifter and a 5.0L V8. The 302A which includes a lot of tech features is also available with the column shift, but only with the chrome package, not sport.

Is that MSRP base on Canadian dollars? It’s seems very low price for a XLT with all the adds.

Available but requires special packages and options. Even then 90% of buyers opt their XLT's without the sensors

Very nice side by side comparison. As of today's exchange rate, 1 CAD = 0.7496 USD The XLT edition would be $51723 USD while the Lariat edition would be $61250 USD Just to add info here, ADM in the US is about $10k to $15k USD which is absurd.

I have a similarly optioned 2022 xlt, but my window sticker msrp was almost $62,000 USD. How is their xlt that much cheaper, based on msrp alone? Note: I paid about 53k (0% APR) for it, including trade-in, after negotiating it down since the 2023s have been out for a good while and I bought the truck in early February of this year with only 25 miles on it. They were obviously trying to get rid of it, yet still wanted full price.

When will the Velocity blue be back? This does not pop like that does in the sun.

You're right it is possible to have front parking sensors but the upgraded Co-Pilot Assist Package is required. 90% of XLT's don't have front sensors as it is a pricey option. You're truck would have adaptive cruise and lane centering as part of that package.

@@MacPhee_FordYeah it’s like a 4 or 5k upgrade. The high package. For a lot of people it’s not worth it. Specially when the regular LED headlights are very good. Not many use navigation because you get Apple CarPlay and Android auto. As for the front sensors with the 360 cameras I don’t see a need for them.

My 2021 Lariat has the 502a plus chrome package , sorry but those black grills and grey wheels look so cheap , shouldnt be on the Lariat and up .

Some people just prefer body colour/grey versus chrome. Lariat is still offered with the XTR chrome package if you want the chrome.

It is possible yes, with the upgraded Co-Pilot package. Although a rare option on XLT, some do have the front sensors.

I wish xlt had leather and cooled seats.

Driving a 22 XLT with a 2.7engine. The payload and towing capacity are less than the 3.5 version. I should pick the 3.5t with the off road package, or custom order a tremor. My friend has a tremor and it rides a lot better than my 2.7xlt. For an extra 12 grand I'd rather upgrade it to a Tremor than Lariat. Lariat in my opinion, is overpriced and it loaded with features that you don't really need to use everyday.

Correct. The 3.5L EcoBoost does offer more towing capacity as it offers more power. Obviously depends on what you use the truck for and if that higher towing number is worth the extra cost of the 3.5. A tremor will ride slightly better as the shocks are more tuned for off-road vs towing. Which is why it tows less than the 3.5L in a non-tremor F-150. But a tremor can also be optioned to a price very comparable to a high-end XLT. Or you could get into higher spec tremor which could compare to a Lariat. Certainly lots of options!

No real difference both are the same truck

There are 2 lariat trims and there is a big difference between them.
