Hey Guys! We’re so close to the beginning of the school year, so I’ve spent the past week getting the girls room ready for the change! I did so much cleaning, decluttering, and re-organizing, and even a mini bedroom makeover for Kinsley! What are you all doing to prepare for school to start?

I grew up in a traumatic dysfunctional atmosphere as well, and did the same thing with escaping into reading. Hugs! 💕💕💕

@@lovinglifeasmegan you know, it’s okay. I’m a stronger person because of it, and was a better parent as well…as I know you are. It was bad at the time, but if we can grow and learn from those experiences, then at least we haven’t suffered for nothing. 💕

You are such a good mom. Our sons are in their 40’s and I still have 20+ books from their childhood. Even our grandkids have all outgrown them…but I still can’t part with them. ❤️

I’m right there with you. I’ve been missing some of my favorites and doing some binge watching while washing dishes and sewing at night

I know what you mean about books, it also helped me to escape my problems and gave me some breathing room to cope! We all should have an escape to help us cope. God bless.

It always felt so much better to live in a book than in my real life. 💛 anytime I was reading it was as if I was in a movie, I could literally see the story playing out.

Kinsley’s room is a young ladies room ready to blossom and Sawyer’s room is the perfect toddler’s room ready to shine ✨ you go Megan! I always love how you go above and beyond for you’re daughters! And Derek too! So cool they get to go back to school, I bet they can’t wait! I work at a elementary school for aftercare we still have a month left till we go back in September the 6th. Time goes by so fast. Can’t wait to see what else you got up your sleeve for us! Have a blessed week! 💜

Love how the rooms turned out . It’s so wonderful how you listen to what they are wanting and make it beautiful for them ❤️. And honey I wouldn’t worry about keeping the books you keep all of them if you want . It’s good to go back and read one you haven’t read in a while and I’m sure your sweet girls love them to. It’s been a journey getting there but it’s finally starting to feel like we’re in the home stretch!

I have to say, I felt like I was the only one sending their kids back to the classroom after 2 1/2 years of at home/online learning. I’ve been so nervous and scared and after seeing you’ve been doing the same thing, it was a great comfort ❤️ I know realistically I’m not the only one but you’re the only person I’ve come across in the same boat. We really struggled with homeschool because of how extroverted Kinsley is. She’s definitely the most excited to get back in the classroom!

I’m still so in love with Kensley’s floral wallpaper. I never noticed Sawyer’s corner book shelf before. I definitely need to get a few “corner” furniture options to help maximize space. Thanks for sharing can’t wait to see the dining room makeover.

Hi. When the mail comes, the junk gets tossed right away. My kids are grown, they never had many toys. School supplies got sorted and tossed. You only need 2 changes of sheets per bed. Each person needs 2 towels and 2 wash cloths. My grandkids do laundry and dishes. My kids made dinner, cut grass, babysat, etc. I worked full time, like their dad. Tina, Al's wife

Hi Megan. 🥰 Hearing you talk about having a traumatic childhood just makes me that much more impressed with how you take care of your home, your family, and watching what a wonderful mama you are. How did you overcome so much to get where you are, if (I’m assuming) you didn’t learn it growing up? You bless my heart watching you do life, and how grateful you are for what you have. I know when I struggled growing up, I turned to Jesus, and I felt such peace. ❤️ Thanks for the cleaning mojo, except I’ll be using that energy for cooking dinner! (Just made loaves of zucchini bread….I picked he zucchini from my garden yesterday! :)

In Sawyer’s room? They were added by the previous owners, but they’re pretty simple to diy if you wanted to do some.

No guilt in hanging on to books! My kids are grown & i think i still have the majority of theirs.

I have no advice for that lol. Sawyer loves stuffed animals and I just let her have them. 😂 as long as they are in good condition and she’s still playing with them, I see no need to make her declutter.

We read with our kids often, so they get plenty of use!

The girls' rooms look so good! I need to declutter books...but that is my hardest object to declutter also. I love the new dresser and nightstands for Kinsley's room. You teased us with new dining chairs..... lol. Looking forward to that video.

Even though I’m a lot older than you, Megan, our stories are similar. I also read to escape the crazy family life I had, and it helped me realize not everyone lived with constant upheaval and fear. I still read every chance I get, but it’s for fun now.

Hi Megan. I took have attachment to books I love reading . But had childhood trama myself. I was always bullied at school. I did not have many friends. I grew up as an only child raised in a military family. I was always around adults more than children. I know the feelings you have about books. They were always my best friend.

Child of massive trauma here… And it’s hard to describe but reading made me feel like I was in the room as an observer in the story… If that makes any sense and yes it helps a ton but I am a minimalist and a professional organizer who doesn’t like stuff so I just read on my iPad Have a great day all
