    I love this Tahoe. They are absolutely beautiful. I cannot afford one but they are sweet to look at. I have a 2010 Cadillac Escalade. I love it as well but I am so addicted to these GM SUV'S. I would have a Tahoe, Escalade and a GMC Yukon if I could because each one of them have features and looks that I love.

  • @Proudparents324
    @Proudparents3242 жыл бұрын

    I own this exact tahoe and after 1500 miles I do like it but a few gripes. First, no power pedals and it just seems like either your too close to the steering wheel or too far away from the pedals to ever get 100% comfortable but I'm learning to get used to it. Second, third row does not fold flat easily unless 2nd row seats are moved forward a little because the head rest catch the 2nd row seats. Third, mpg isn't what sticker says. Best I have got is 18.2 mpg which was all highway. On board computer is consistently showing 1mpg better than what it really gets when you figure it on a calculator. Average 14 mpg in city driving. Nice vehicle and will probably keep it a few years but at 70k not sure it's really worth it. We had a 2021 4runner off road premium before this at $45k and truthfully think that's the better of the 2 vehicles for the money.

    I have been waiting for the 6.2 Z71 ever since I sat and saw the opening in December of 2018 ... like an apple event. Didn't have the same aspirations as I was hoping. I was now on the AMG 63 ... obviously money isn't an issue. I am looking for a 3rd row seating that I can throw plywood or sheet rock in ... that will get my wife outta' dodge when I'm away on businesss incase a hurricane comes and just to haul anything - no restrictions. It's been hard to find anyone to come up with the all-around SUV that can get up and go!!! Now I'm still on the fence. I have a 2001 Durango .. I'll go to dealerships with it ... they laugh but they don't know. I'm a mechanical engineer and have my Durango doing much better than anything I've seen yet. I don't care about plugging in my wife's vibrator or cooling her wine ... I want the vehicle that has no restrictions. I've wrote GM about 5 letters about this but they don't seem to get it right. Before the AMG ... I might see what the guys in Texas about the engine upgrade say. the 63 won't do off-road ... which I perceive off-road is. I just want a vehicle that has third row ... can enclose a 4'x8' sheet ... alternative for free way when a hurricane comes in Florida ... can get up and go in a passing situation ... be desecrate from standing out and reliable. I know I'm asking a LOT. I just wanna upgrade my Durango to today's standards - is that too much to ask???

    7 months later update: Ended up trading this Tahoe with 7500 miles for a 2022 Toyota 4runner Off road premium which was a twin to the 2021 4runner we traded for the Tahoe. We got it home and started questioning our decision before the 4runner even had 300 miles on it. So with 1500 miles on the 4runner, we ordered another 2022 Tahoe just like the 2021 we had except a few more options. We were 4runner fanatics as we have owned 4 over the years and loved every one of them but all the little quirks we mentioned really aren't as bad as we thought. The gas mileage is almost the same on the Tahoe and 4runner with the 4runner maybe getting 1mpg better on average but the Tahoe is just smoother and more comfortable day to day. It took having a Tahoe and getting back in a 4runner to realize this. Had we of been able to test drive the 4runner instead of just ordering it, I don't think we would of ever traded the 2021 we had. Anyways, lesson learned. 4runners are great vehicles that will run forever with no issues but once you get spoiled to the comfort and ride of these new Tahoe's, its hard to go back and be happy in anything else.

    Finally reeled one in. 2022 Tahoe Z71. Midnight Blue/Jet Black. Z71 O/R package, panoramic moonroof, 2nd row buckets, sliding console. One major item missing and one option that not my first choice but too late now. Missing item was the O/R performance package (6.2/Quad Exhaust). The item I wish was NOT there was the dreaded RSE. I will come back to that later. This was a lead I had about two weeks ago and at that time was still “In Transit”. I kind of dropped it for a while with the Thanksgiving holiday and work. Salesman called Friday (12/3) advising it was on property and they had a test driver lined up. I worked all weekend and just had to play the fate game and if it was sold that’s how destiny works. Yesterday late AM after I woke up I called dealer. To be honest I was totally expecting it to be gone. Status was available told them I would be there in a couple of hours.Told salesman to hide the keys, put a cover over it, air out the tires, disconnect battery whatever he had to do to immobilize until I arrived. He had it already filled up and detailed so apparently he was pretty confident. Quick test drive not so much for the ride but a better idea of road noise with the All Terrain tires. A somewhat rural area so more chance to focus my ears to listen for unusual or excessive road noise. Dealer was honest and advised that the running boards were on back order. Not the end of the world and only about 80 miles each way. Long enough to be a decent road trip for me and Scout but not too crazy. About 95% straight shot on I35N about 30 miles from Oklahoma border. In Stock, decent trade value to help offset some of the markup, and a few hours later I was on my way back. Night drive back and some extra left seat time……..(I missed staying to the right at the I35W/E split and wound up intercepting the Dallas side of I35 instead of FW. Good solid ride, and comfortable. I did get too crazy, just basic handling/control checks due to it being night and fairly dense traffic. I saved donor the more advanced system checks for today during daylight! Today was basic set up. Some more infotainment set up, phone, Google maps, showed off to one of my co workers, window tint. ClearBra appointment Thursday and after that probably Dashcam transfer next week. I will try to work a video soon but I am not the most tech savvy. Initial impressions are great. Definitely need the running boards since it seems higher than the Premier…even though the tire profile is about 1/4 inch lower. Next two projects are Dashcam and conversion to N2…..may hold that since I am planning on using the gloss black 22’s from the 21 Premier. That hold is for new OEM TPMS sensors!

    @@703Speed sorry about the delayed reply….I guess the Holiday’s excuse has run it’s course…… ClearBra was front fascia, about first third of the front fender and hood, Leading edge of A pillar, mirror Caps and roof back to about to where the GPS/SXM antenna ends. Transferred the Gloss Black 22” from the 2021 Premier with no fitment issues. W/T hood deflector transferred over, I have the Vent Visors and moonroof wind deflector but need to get a few steady days of warmer temps to help with setting. Might have to wait until February or March for those. LED brake, turn signal and reverse lights are next project. That might be a video but if not definitely photo essay for the forums. Basically making a metal plate with small wood backing and Velcro to the frame ahead of the turn signal lens assembly…..idea is to mount resistors safe and secure but without having to drill holes in the metal. Final version is about done had some experimental size prototypes and think I settled on final answer. Need the mounting plate to be large enough to dissipate the resistor heat but small enough to still fit in the little “Cove” between the vehicle frame and lens housing assembly. Stand by for that one. I did get the GM dealer installed Performance Exhaust for the 5.3….sounds pretty close to 6.2 without having to pay the extra .75-$1.00/Gallon for 93 Octane!! Thanks for the follow up,

    Good detailed review, thanks. Some The wireless charging pad is a bad design….should I say location. The forward center console has way too much storage space…..let me clarify……. For a storage compartment only it is perfect. The wireless charging pad, I could imagine about a dozen scenarios where either the charging pad AND or the phone itself charging could get damaged. Spilled Deer Park water, anything magnetic that could damage the charging coil, you know the deal. The other charging pad location from earlier models….(top of the center console arm rest.). Makes it good easy location but can be a shrapnel hazard during a full emergency braking or worse accident. Center console: The USB ports in the center console is removed if you get the sliding center console. The sliding console is nice and comes with a sliding compartment under the main console. I am glad to see that the main compartment finally got a removable organizer tray for 2022. I will check with dealer and see when they can get one. Also note the cup holders for the center console will benefit the rear seat passengers. Bring the holders closer. The front door, pocket, overall layout means that there is about a dozen different ways where I or anyone could misplace the phone. About 80% within immediate reach. New instrument cluster looks sharp. Three fairly major deletions of fairly common items that do make me frustrated…… 1. Power adjustable brake/accelerator pedals 2. Fog lights. Silverado kept them with the redesign and grilles are pretty close to a perfect match. 3. Overhead console flip down mirror. I don’t have children but I would still use it to monitor the rear area….mainly my dog. I can se where the soccer and newborn moms of America should be up in arms over that one. The switch for controlling the sliding center console is nowhere even close to the console. Control switch is on the overhead console and not very well marked For those that get rear Dashcams installed make a note for your installer. Leave enough slack in the cable to account for the extra travel of the camera body if you choose to open only the glass part of the lift gate. The rear seat media system has a way to push information from the rear media tablets to the front infotainment screen. Example a rear seat passenger finds a POI…(dining, fuel, rear area etc…). The information is pushed to the front screen. Driver or front passenger can select and enter into the NAV. Screen. Recent reports indicate that some features may not be available for 2022. Features that may be part of Individual options or option packages. Example after 6/2021 there was a staged deletion of three items. 1. Wireless charging pad 2. Auto Stop Start……still had Dynamic fuel management….shuts down four cylinders in cruise to help with highway fuel economy. To be honest the DFM benefit is mainly Interstate or wider open areas of secondary roads. Also for 2021 at least the indicator of when DFM was active is gone. Previous generations had a V8/V4 display. As for removing the Auto Start/Stop…..remind me to buy the panel that approved that deletion a nice dinner or case of …”Liquid Desserts” 3. Electronic steering column lock. That is more annoying than safety related. 2022 May see some deletions of the four position lumbar support for front seat occupants. Still has a two position. I have premier but going back in time I would custom order a loaded Z71. Asked about custom order but dealer could not provide information on how long it would take from ordering, production and delivery to dealer so found a Premier that was only about three days out for dealer delivery. Literally right off the transporter with only 4 miles on the odometer. Sorry for the long winded reply. This video is brought to by the corporate sponsorship of Koons Chevrolet and Deer Park bottled water…. Sorry couldn’t resist!!

    Great write up, hit every point accurately. I agree with everything you said, and I’m sure the other viewers who are prospective buyers will appreciate the write up as well. While the chip shortage is annoying in many aspects feature wise, I’m glad they did away with auto stop start. I just wish they’d do away with DFM as well. While yes it is supposed to help with fuel economy, how will it effect the longevity of the motor? Anyhow - thank you for your comment! And I’m open for a Deer Park sponsorship - if you know anyone 😂😂

    Hard to believe it’s been three months + today. Already hit 6200 and it’s…….”First Ones Free” Oil change. One minor note and definitely needs adjustment of the slack in the cable. The rear camera was installed but there is one quirk that I am having trouble with. Camera works fine and view but you have to be real careful about the lift gate glass…..camera will fall off glass and I have adjusted out the slack in the cable as much as I dare too. Aside from that great vehicle. Still upset about the overly large wireless charging pad but getting used to it. Even a hinged cover would be a step up.

    Just traded a 2016 Suburban for a 2022 Suburban Some improvements, some of the new features are not improvements. I will say the ride is better and the engine seems to be a little quicker. I prefer the older lighter interior. The 2022 is too new to me to really have a preference, Did Chevy drop the V8 to V4 mode? Also, several features were apparently dropped after the owner's manual was written, i.e. the Auto Stop and Start feature is not included in my 2022 Suburban but it is in the manual. There are several other features were left off too, assuming do to chip availability.

    I do believe Chevy dropped AFM (thankfully), they also did drop auto stop/start and gave you a credit in exchange for it. Good riddance IMO, I hate auto stop/start in any vehicle - too jerky. It’s interesting to me that they kinda half assed the owners manual and left those features in there. Oh well, can’t be perfect I guess. Apparently some 2022 GM vehicles will be losing heated seats and heated steering wheel. If that is the case I presume GM will lose a lot of sales. Hopefully that is not the case. Thank u for commenting!

    @@703Speed Yeah, right there with you on the auto stop/start, commonsense says that's a lot of ware and tear on the starter and battery. Plus, I can't see where you would save any gas, restarting the car regularly in city driving. As far as the V8/V4 feature, I didn't think it would go into V4 mode enough to make any different. It always said it was in V8 mode when idling, only time in would go into V4 mode was on flat or downward sloping roads with the cruise control on or coasting. Never a problem, the only time I even knew which mode it was in was when the indicator on the dashboard told me. I'm on my 6th Suburban now and the most important thing thing I've learned, NEVER buy the first year of a major body change. The only bad onbe I've had a 2007, complete lemon, never again.

    @@fortuner0622 I ordered it around the middle of September. I was told there would be a very limited run of production and to expect delivery sometime in January. A friend ordered a new Tahoe, with basically the identical package as I ordered. They told him delivery would be sometime in the 1st quarter so in my mind even for me I figured I might get it in March. I was shocked when I got the call that it was in. Funny thing is last Wednesday while driving around after picking it up, I saw four or five brand new Suburbans just like mine, same color, Z71 package with temporary plates.

    Really got me thinking more and more about trying to search down a Z71…….Premier and Z71 both have pretty comparable equipment and available features. Only major items for Premier that Z71 doesn’t have available are Ventilated seats, HUD, 22” wheels……….. Quick question….I think I know the answer but want clarification. The NAV is not part of the description for the 10” infotainment screen. Used to be part of the Rear Seat Media/NAV package. 2022 advertised as Rear seat Media….tablets but no NAV……. Did the new Google maps take its place? If it’s the Google maps version that I think it is then good idea.
