2022 Buick Envision Avenir: Better than Mazda CX-50?

It is not often we get competing vehicles at the exact same time here at GT: Garage Talk, but when we do we cannot help but do a little comparison. For 2023 Mazda introduced the CX-50 crossover that ups the brand's luxurious appeal, and then we have this week's tester in the 2022 Buick Envision Avenir. Avenir is the new top-trim, for the Buick brand, much like Denali for GMC.
While we have tested an Envision here on the channel before, we said yes to the opportunity to test out Buick's best in the compact crossover segment. This Buick did not disappoint.
Coming in at just over $45,000, this luxury crossover had plenty to offer in a platform that was buttoned-down, rattle-free, and so smooth in many different situations from city to highway driving.

Appreciate your test. I love the looks of both the Mazda and the Buick. At 66 years ago I am no longer imitating a NASCAR driver. I am looking for a smooth driving experience.

Drove this car for a month and loved it. Very quiet, fast turbo response, and great fuel mileage. Very agile and quiet car. Love it.

I love my 2022 Buick Enclave AWD Avenir!!!! Wifey has the 2022 Buick Enclave Premium AWD and she loves her Cherry Red exterior and she calls her SUV “Pepper,”!!

We love our Envision❤. We've had Toyotas and a Lexus and the Buick Envision is absolutely par-plus. Those tempered-glass side windows and noise dampening systems make this vehicle very quiet.

The side front glasses should be laminated. the backs are probably tempered.

Probably CX-50 Turbo. It was more fun to drive. This Buick was great too, just felt like it was for someone with a more laid back approach to driving than I see myself.

Finally, a near luxury car that isn't concerned about trying to appeal to kids with backs made of steel who want to race around in an SUV (which is kind of a hilarious idea) and just wants to be what it is. I'm disappointed that Buick 86ed their large and midsize sedans, because as a disabled person, they were the perfect size for me, but since I'm deciding between this and a Camry Hybrid, this right now has the edge. I have terrible back and neck pain, and right now I care a little more about my chronic pain than I do saving the planet, even though I know it's kind of important. I'm trying to get off the daily mild painkillers and I need a car that won't be painful to drive. I figure I can save a few bucks, too, by getting a 2022 over a 2023.

What car did you end up getting ? I'm wondering... there is no lumbar support for the back n the 2023 model.
So is it better than a cx-50?? My guess is the mazda would be more reliable/durable. My only issue with the cx50 is the 6 speed trans. A very good reliable unit but doesn't make the most of the engines power and doesn't give it the greatest mpg
