Dont buy a non FFB/DD wheel. I did the mistake of doing that, and it was okay, since it was my first wheel. But now, after having a g29 for a couple of months, no ffb makes simracing terrible, so save up and go for ffb.

I race on PlayStation 4 and now 5. Having started with the Thrustmaster T150 pro (which has the T3PA pedals, much better than the standard two pedal set) I soon upgraded to the T300 snd the difference is staggering. I also then invested in the open wheel mod and recently got the Ferrari SF1000 wheel (still with the T300). I use the Wheel Stand Pro so I can play from my couch and fold it away when not in use.

I would advice anyone starting out to go for a T300(RS) at a minimum, just stay clear or replace the 2 pedal set of the standard T300. Though the Logitech offerings are ok, I personally preferred the T300RS (I owned) over the G29 (a friend owned) by quite a margin (T150 is kinda crap, T500 bit stronger FFB, but less detail than the T300). 1st upgrade should be a load pedal set (and preferably a way to mount everything to not a desk) 2nd hand is your friend. For anyone in NL, marktplaats is king (but also check out tweakers). My upgrade path: - Cheap no name brand wheel for og xbox (2nd hand free, also gave it away for free) - T300RS + T3PA pedals + TH8A shifter + wheels stand pro (all 2nd hand) - Upgraded above with extra rim and Fanatec CSL Elite load cell pedal set & Oculus Rift (all 2nd hand) - Sold everything except the LC pedal set > Fanatec CSW 2.5 + F1 V2 APM (2nd hand) + SQ 1.5 shifter (new) + Next level racing Wheel stand DD (new on sale) + P100 (2nd hand rim for rally) - Sold CSW + P100 > upgraded with CSL DD 8nm + Universal hub (+CS mag shifters + 285mm OMP rim / 320mm Sparco rim) + Hall sensor handbrake (all new except Sparco rim & handbrake) * looking for a 2nd hand McLaren GT3 V2 for a decent price and maybe an Elgato stream deck as a button box, but in no hurry. I don't have space for a rig and the price for a pedal set or wheel base upgrade is too steep atm. So watch out and be warned. It can be an addictive hobby and a decent money sink. But if you're smart about buying and selling 2nd hand, you can get most of the money you put in back out of it for years of fun.

100% yes. I did about 3 weeks of looking up review comparisons before buying mine last month and anyone looking to play anything other than forza horizons and be serious at all in racing sims needs to get at least a t300rs. The logitechs make a horrible rattling/grinding sound when it does it’s feedback effects it sounds like it’s breaking itself in there. T300rs is the first wheel as you go up in price that is quiet to use, doesn’t feel cheap, and turns smoothly on your hands. It’s why I’m not surprised that it’s constantly out of stock and took over a month to come back and ship to me after ordering

I just got into "Sim racing". I bought the T248 and a playseat challenge. This had the highest convenience level and my GF just accept it. Easy to store and get out. The wheel is for me amazing (its my first wheel). The pedals feels amazing and the Chair is great. Im playing F1 on PS5 so that might factor in to it I don't know. But Im happy with the set up, in a few years I Can totally see myself upgrading to the Fanatec GT DD kit. But for now, I'm superhappy with the one I got. The Gear-paddles feels good, the wheels is a nice size and price.

For T300, while the GT edition is ok, if you can find it, the Ferrari Alcantara edition would be the one to go for. Just like GT edition, it comes with the T3PA pedals, but also has the 599 Alcantara rim, which is bigger and lighter For games, especially if you like rally, then DiRT Rally 2.0 is a must have Also, if you're not into competitive racing, truck sims are worth considering (ETS2 and ATS)

How to get into it on a budget? Buy used. Playseat Challenges or Alu Rigs as well as used T300 or G29 Wheels get sold for a reasonable price. Same with Thrustmaster TLCM and Fanatec pedals. Be patient and buy when you find the right one. Also I would recommend going for the T300 over the G29 since its rather easy to tighten the belt with it. And if you plan to get an AluRig its one of the items you absolutely should look at in the used market, because metal doesn't really wear off - beyond some scratches.

Since no one mentioned it, I thought I'd bring up the Next Level Racing GT-Lite and F-GT Lite. Both rigs are completely foldable like the Playseat, and have floorplates to bolt in the pedals, and a mesh back on the seat which is nice. The GT Lite costs the same as the Challenge. The F-GT costs about $70 more, but has A LOT more adjustability, you can even convert it from an upright "GT" seating position to a fully reclined Formula/Kart position. The only complaint I have is that it's not as sturdy as a solid built rig so the chair vibrates a little when the wheel vibrates, but that's going to be the case with any foldable rig. It's a solid choice if you're looking for something portable and functional.

Also If you fear heat, you can always manually turn on the cooling fan. There are alot of Thrustmaster guides online that in the TM software, you need to set the application FFB strength to 70% and ingame to 100%. I found if having my TM software FFB set to 100% that I was loosing fidelity and FFB information as it was just too strong. Lesser FFB can actually be give you more information but I wouldnt suggest going less than 60% in the software.

As someone who has been using Thrustmaster for about 5 years now, I just can't recommend them long term. I've had a TMX that died in about 2 years, upgraded to a TX, which died in about 2 years, and I'm currently on my second TX. I haven't been particularly hard on my equipment, the wheel base just fries with a couple years of consistent use. I am also on my second T3PA pedal set as a spring has gone weird and clicks into place whenever I pressed in the clutch pedal with enough force for me to feel it through my foot. The worst thing about Thrustmaster is that when something inevitably fails, they do everything within their power in the manufacturing process to prevent repairs. Really scummy shit, wires that are so short that you physically cant disassemble something without wither breaking it or reaching in blindly with a flathead screwdriver to undo a clip that was clearly never meant to come apart and when you finally do after much cursing, you find this red anti tamper gunk blocking all the bolts you need to undo in order to service said part. I don't know if Logitech or Fanatec does this as I've never had a Logitech go bad in all my years using them since the PS2 and I am still yet to upgrade to a Fanatec.

Here is my tip, if you are low on money, space, time or wife doesn't understand your need for speed: gyro steering is not bad at all. I have T300 wheel, but it is usually inconvenient to pull it out, mount it and play for half an hour. So i mainly go with Steam controller that has great gyro, very precise, and works in almost all games i have. I do have LC pedals but they are always under the desk. IMO it's a valid option for solid immersion (that's mostly what wheels do, add to immersion, unlike pedals that lift the game to the next level). Maybe do a video on that topic.

If you are really on a budget I've found that the Logitech G29 paired with the TrueBrake mod to be a very solid option. The mod makes the Logitech pedal have the same feel as a load cell for around $65 shipped. The GT Omega art is also a good budget chassis, although if I were to do it again I'd probably go with extruded aluminum to allow for a better upgrade path in the future.

Agreed. If they had some sort of bundle it would be fine. When you look at the base it seems like a good deal for what you're getting but then you see how much everything else they have is for things that are some what comparable to to the csl dd bundles and it gets insane. You can get a csl dd, gt3 v2 wheel, 8nm power supply, and the load cell peddles for like 300 dollars less and that against mozas all base model parts. I think the base is slightly better but i just can't see where that 300 is going of everything else I get is worse.

I just came from G29 to CSL DD. I'll say G29 is good for the price, but don't stay with G29 for too long. G29 is lack of some important FFB and torque is too low. It may cause player to grow some bad driving habits.

I'd strongly recommend anyone that wants to get anything that's more expensive than the logitech wheels to just get a csl dd. In my opinion buying a belt driven wheel for 4 to 500 or in some cases 700 dollars is a huge mistake considering you can have direct drive for the same amount or even cheaper in some cases.

I'm not sure this is strictly correct, currently I can get the T300 (the version with the crappy pedals, since I'd be looking at discarding the pedals and get a separate LC set elsewhere) for 309€, looking at the recent history of the product sometimes it falls below 290, Black Friday it was 255€. Whereas the cheapest equivalent DD package I'm seeing (wheel+rim) is the Fanatec CSL DD 5nm, currently out of stock for 349€ + the BMW round rim at 139€ which makes a total of 488€. Plus shipping from the Fanatec store (I can get free shipping for the T300) Like, sure, I guess 488€ for that is probably better value for money than 290€ish for the T300, but that's still 200€ more. DDs have become cheaper but they're still not in the same price range than a belt upgrade to the Logitechs. Unless you meant not the T300 but the more expensive Thrustmasters which... yeah, why would anyone buy that over the CSL DD.

@@claudioalegria1833 when I say anything other than logitech I more just mean anything in that price range. The thrustmaster stuff would be fine in that price range as well. I just mean if you want to spend anything more than 300 to 350 USD (which would be like 350 to 400 roughly in euros roughly or probably a little less) I just think you're better off adding a max of an extra 100 bucks and just getting the base model csl dd. They have a bundle with wheel and pedals for 500. I person just can't see the point of paying 400 for a belt driven rig when you can spend an extra 100 and get a direct drive system. I do 100% understand though why the cheaper logitech and thrust master systems are purchased though. I think they are amazing but also think any belt driven wheel that's more expensive than they outside of the 700 dollar belt driven systems don't really feel any different in my opinion.

had t300 for about 4 years with zero issues. before it also had g25 with optical encoder failure. yup g29/920/923 having holla sensor instead of optic. but in general - t300 and g29 more or less the same in terms of durability. people should chose from their personal likes and needs. somebody might wanna to upgrade his rig. and thrustmaster could be easily upgraded with new pedals or wheel-rim instead of logitech's. as for me... had t300 alcantara with t3pa, bought th8a addon and bought t-lcm when they were released. around 8 month ago i've migrated to dd, bought alpha mini and alien zadrotti pedals + keep th8a from old setup.

Absolutely, I went through 3 Thrustmaster T300's in 2 years. They don't like heat at all (Im Australian) 2 of them where warranty replacements. A mate had his 1st T300 die in 6 months, with the warranty replacement he took to it with a hole Saw and installed more fans. It's been running flawlessly for 5 years, personally I don't think that the consumer should have to mod a product for it to be reliable. I went to using a fanatec DD1 podium and will never recommend or buy another Thrustmaster product again
