Are you allowed to have different grindsd of different sections of the blade. E.g. 22degrees on the 4inches neat the end of the blade and say 17 degrees toward the ricasso?

That is a great question. According to Jimislash, "You could, but I don't see the purpose. You could have different grinds for the blade, but I haven't heard about the edge."

Unfortunately, his lanyard broke. I believe they call it an Osborne safety lanyard. It wraps around the wrist in case the competitor loses their grip.
