Well we just received the new apple tv 4k 3rd gen (yes we bought it) and so we figured that we would do an unboxing of the new 2022 Apple tv 4k 3rd gen. AND put it up against the apple tv 4k 2nd gen. This way you can see some of the physical changes. Also, we will let you know some of the changes to the new updated Apple TV and if we think it's worth upgrading to this model. Cant wait to see how it performs. I had the last old version but now moved to Firestick as able to sideload apps.... looking at the firestick cube.

Nice review Greg. I too have the ‘21 ATV box and was wondering if you’ve had a chance to play with the ‘22 box and do you still feel that it’s not worth upgrading from the ‘21 box? Thank you.

im playing with it right now. i dont really see much difference. If you have no issues with the previous than i dont see the reason to upgrade. But i will say that it does load apps quicker for sure.

yeah nice box especially for those that dont have a current version.
I read that Siri is faster in the newer Apple TV. Perhaps the onboard processing of Siri has been turned on. Also, I am not sure if this was clear to everyone: there is no non-4K model now. The cheapest Apple TV has been upgraded to handle 4K, so there are no distinct non-4K models now.

this is simply not true I buy and repair broken apple tv's and the apple TV HD is just HD not 4k currently no updates adds support to make it work with 4k content sure you can watch 4k content but it will be in 1080p
Can’t even beat nvidia shield pro unless you have Hdr10+ tv.
OK instead of hemming and hawing, why not try it out? I was in doubt myself. I am totally happy that I upgraded from last year‘s model. It fixed my KZread problems where it was cutting off the first two or three seconds of the video because it was buffering it. It fixed my Dolby problems of dropping out. Everything is buttery smooth. I can go 4K video and scrub halfway through a movie or KZread, and it instantly starts up at that spot. There’s no delays. I used ethernet. So totally worth the upgrade so my advice is stop just reading reviews and actually use the device and then have an opinion. PS. Love the beard

I still got the KZread 2 seconds cut off with the new model.

supposedly its a software issue that they hope to fix with a software update. So the updated hardware may not fix it. i believe its due to the frame rate matching feature.

@@gregtoope you’re right it is the frame match feature that was causing the extra load time. I turned mine off and things are smooth.
Reviewing a product without comparing it to the last version. This video was a waste of time.

@@gregtoope All you did was unbox and talk about the look, size, and features. At 9:15, you said I read a lot of reviews, and you don't think it's an upgrade. So you're reviewing a product based on what you read? Then at 10:32 you say that you can guarantee that it won't look any different. How do you know this? How can you guarantee this? You didn't even compare the picture quality or if the gen 3 is faster than gen 2.
