The 2022 Acura RDX is by far the best value in this segment. Don't waste your money on higher trims like the Aspec. The base comes loaded with everything you need (pano sunroof, heated seats, heated steering wheel, power liftgate, remote start, homelink, wireless apple/android, adaptive cruise, lane assist, lane depart warning ect...). The base RDX is also 10k cheaper than the Genesis GV70 and unlike the Genesis (which is it's first year SUV) the Acura has a proven reliability record.

@@carylhalfwassen8555 I've had the SQ5 and the BMW M40i before I went with the Acura RDX. The RDX ride is on par with both the Audi and BMW...not sure what you're complaining about. Performance wise the BMW M40i is the best, then the Audi SQ5. The regular Audi Q5 has less hp then the Acura and still costs more. The gas mileage does suck with Acura but you're also not spending $400 for an oil change and the reliability on both the Audi and BMW are terrible.

@@carylhalfwassen8555 Having had a RDX 2021 I can testify you are right about ride and sound. Looks like quasi all SUV manufacturers believe they can ignore those 2 factors because SUV is supposed to mean rough ride, white-water crossing, cross country, mountain climbing, aggressive looks, tank solidity…Lots of older people want quiet, comfort, pleasant, smooth ride. They need the high driver seat bec ease of access in particular! Don’t ignore older people: they are many and they have money!
The Genesis GV70 is a rare sight out there on the roadway while the Acura RDX is seen everywhere.
I have driven the Acura, the Genesis in 6 cyl, and the 4 cyl. The 6 came off as being more powerful but heavy feeling. It felt sporty but never really wanting to be full out sport. The Acura never seemed to want to be full out luxury supple. While I agree that the Acura feels more sporty, it's only slightly so. The Genesis goes from luxury to sport and back so well in the 4 cyl and only gives up a little speed, that I decided to go with that. On top, I got it slightly below sticker. It is the most balanced of the two. In addition, the fuel economy, while horrible at first has after break in, met or surpassed the expectations.
In order for this to be a fairer comparison, it should really be with the GV70 2.5T Sport Prestige

Having owned two Acuras before, I love the brand for its' performance, reliability and value. Great cars, imo. But Genesis isn't really competing with Japanese "premium" cars. Unlike Japanese brands, all of their vehicles are RWD and generally offer more features. They clearly have Euro brands in mind, except that they're far more reliable. Still, hard to go wrong with either of these fine machines.

I know what you mean, I have not ben in a RDX but I have driven both motors in GV70 and even a Subaru outback feels like a tank compared with any Korean vehicle and very few people notice that solid feel of solid brand vehicles like BMW, for example. In the Japanese brands Subaru and some Toyota/Lexus models type feel heavy and solid built when compared to many other brands based on my experience of driving everything I can get my hands on.
These reviews are helpful and well done. I would recommend to drive each vehicle and make your choice.

Two vehicles that I really like. But even in the four cylinder, it’s GV70 for me. I prefer the design of the GV70 , especially inside. While I also like the RDX, the dashboard design is too busy, and the wheel design doesn’t suit the vehicle, especially considering this is the ASpec trim. They don’t even look like they are 20 inches in diameter.
Nice job in your review. I own a 2019 A-Spec that is approaching 75,000 miles. I love the car! I have been noticing the GV-70 around town and find it to be as you have noted. The GV-70 is one nice looking car, but I think I really like my RDX a lot more. Thanks for the review….Oh, I added a K-Tuner tune, Eichbach Springs, slotted/drilled rotors with carbon ceramic pads and larger Michelin PilotSport 4 SUV….nice handler got better. Keep the Acura. The RDX is a much better overall SUV.
I own both a '22 GV70 with the 2.5T and a '19 Corvette Grand Sport. I drove a Mazda CX9 before the Genesis. I disagree with this reviewer that the GV70 doesn't handle the curves well. It is not Corvette level handling, but it is absolutely a competent carver on the twisties, especially in sport mode. In fact, it is a joy to drive at every driving level. (I love the steering wheel. It actually feels better than my Corvette steering wheel.) Certainly a much better handler than was my '16 Mazda CX9. That being said, I occasionally miss the cargo space I had in the Mazda (4 sets of golf clubs/5 passengers), but the seating for 5 feels about equal. I find that the GV70 is a perfect fit for me that sits right between the sportiness of the C7 (which easily holds 2 sets of clubs, BTW), and the practicality of the CX9. And the Porche like looks of the GV70, both inside and out, beats almost anything out there (especially from the ass-end), and is what first got me looking at the Genesis. I've had it for about 6 months and put about 4k miles on it. So far no issues whatsoever and still a kick in the pants to drive daily. As far as the C7 Corvette, as much as I truly love it, I'm hoping to get into a C8 in the next year or so, (once dealers stop price gouging with upwards of $35k over MSRP), although I have zero complaints about the C7 GS and would not at all be disappointed to drive it for a few more years. It's that awesome.
Everyone knows that when these get some serious miles on them, the Acura will still be trouble free while the other one…
I think a more interesting comparison would be the GV70 vs a Porsche Cayenne. Most reviews compare it to a Macan. That's wrong - I own both. Both are in my driveway. They are almost identical in size and not a lot different in weight. I was considering a new Cayenne and ended up with a 3.5L Prestige GV70. It cost almost exactly half what a "similarly equipped" Cayenne would have cost, right down to the 2 tone interior, roof rails, and all the good stuff the GV70 comes with. The Cayenne has to be built to order to equal the GV70. The Prestige has NO options to pick out. The Cayenne (an S to match the performance of the Genny V6) was ALL options. Porsche has a "configurator" online - try building one. Bet it comes out around $140,000. I had a 2024 Cayenne for 10 days while mine was in the shop - it was only the $110,000 version, but while it was very nice, I didn't see it as superior to the GV70 Prestige, it actually was a bit slower feeling (standard twin-turbo V6 was about 60HP less than the Genesis). That might make a quite interesting comparison. I think you'd be surprised - Genesis obviously (to me) targeted the best of the Europeans - the Cayenne - and made a quite reasonable and in some ways superior package for way less money. That's why my 2011 Cayenne Turbo was joined by one.
I test drove both the Acura RDX Aspec and the Genesis GV70 Sport Prestige 2.5T and the Genesis performed much better to me than the Acura. I was expecting a better ride from the RDX but was really disappointed. The GV70 was more comfortable and when selecting sport mode really awakened a beast. The RDX should have been compared to the 2.5T version. The reviewer should have decided whether he wanted to compare it to the German 6 cylinder luxury suvs or the 4 banger Japanese suvs. Ultimately I bought the 2.5T GV70 sport prestige because it offered better value, performance, and technology than the RDX.

My gv70 2.5 sport is/ amazing , I took mountain rds with tons of great handling , quiet , stiff, spry Rear wheel drive. The rdx felt like a sportend crv with loud road noise. Did not enjoy on winding roads with front wheel drive manners
The touch screen on my apple phone is confusing too. I should feel right at home using the Acura's.
I'd take the GV70 any day...based on all of the advantages it has plus it looks sooo good. How often are you going to be going through a sharp corner at 60 mph??

This video is hilarious. The genesis beats the rdx in all test: the skidpad,1/4 Mile, passing test, 0 to 60 and is quiter than the rdx. This is comparing it to the 2.5, up the ante and compare it to the 3.5 sport ... it will get chewed up and spit out. Acura really needs to start competing and stop paying actors.

Exacly.
I owned the Acura for 2 weeks. The infotainment navigation was hot garbage, voice recognition didn't work at all, the mouse like controls were an exercise in frustration - terrible. Beyond that, the engine was anemic and complete garbage when compared to literally every other car in its class - oh how I wish I would have test driven more similar suvs before regretting the RDX so much. What a waste.
Despite the shortcomings on the RDX, I think it’s much more refined than its Korean competitor- just my opinion
I like my beek with the little cowl
Hyundai or Honda?
I think you lied because I saw how the GV70 matched up against the BMW, Audi and Mercedes. Won SUV of the Year in 2022.
I hated the loud fake engine noise of the RDX….louder than my loud NX!. I liked the rear wheel bias of the GV 70 2.5. I’d take the genesis in all probability

I have a GV70 and currently in the process of selling it back to the company due to the consistent issue of whinning noise coming from rear differential. Took it to dealer 3 different times and they replaced transfer case, rear differential 3 times and the noise is still there. Had an RDX Aspec before this and never had any issues at all. I can see that, but it's also similar to Chrysler. Body shape/interior is quite a bit different. Also a couple hundred grand difference in price. I think the GV70 is a great highway cruiser, while the RDX is a great city ripper. Just don't understand the trolling you're doing here. Acura is junk. Power steering replaced at 20k, cylinder head replaced at 36k. Got rid of it.
Rubbish imo. I'm the target market and my opinion couldn't be more different. For the same price, the outstanding exterior design, premium interior design, better technology (blind view monitor, augmented reality, highway driving assist etc.). Many have commented on the artificially light and unnatural steering feel of the Acura. That center Acura stack is WAY TOO BUSY and borders of awful. Buttons are generally good, but c'mon, that's just a mess. Genesis has the concierge service (will chauffeur the car to you for servicing and drop off a loaner in larger markets) and a much better warranty. Yeah, i'll side with Motor Trend calling the GV70 the 2022 SUV of the year...tho I might have to wait until the GV70 Electrified (EV) comes out next year..
