I love how the speedometer doesn't skip numbers, it makes it feel like you're accelerating so much faster than you actually are.

I LOVE this car. I’m a Volvo guy at this point but this one is a GEM.
The current generation of Volvo's are amazing
Good review and very accurate. I recently changed my old D4 R-Design 2.0L diesel to a T8 R-Design and is been fantastic. It's a beautiful car with great build quality inside and out. We use ours for normal city and town driving so pretty much on hybrid most of the time. Motorway driving the engine does need to kick in and the speed and acceleration are blistering. The brakes I do agree with the review - you need to get used to them but they are a touch soft.
This Volvo is awesome i LOVE It
Just love how this is a "cross over" in the USA and a pretty large SUV in the EU :D

I like your review. Very detailed
Very practical review. It is nice that you use adequate voice volume. Quality of sound and image are very grateful. The car is awesome. Very Good acceleration with better luxury and comfy. As you say, dampers are not punishing but I wonder if the car can be as confortable as a normal T8 twisting dials to the softest position (22?) Thanks for the vídeo and keep it up!
Love the vids bro
Volvo's are amazing. Topher, you should test drive the Kia K5. You will like it. Have had mine 2 weeks, LOVE IT.
They look beautiful (outside & inside), and yes, you´re right, people often change their Volvos to have another Volvo and that shows how reliable they are, the interior quality, etc...

...or it shows that these people are simply unadventurous. People who buy GM tend to stay in GM. Toyota, Toyota. Honda, Honda. They got on the train, didn't get burned, and decided that they don't care enough to try something else so they buy what has worked so far. I, on the other hand, am no brand loyalist. The Volvo is straight-up not as nice of a vehicle as the equivalent from BMW or Audi. The materials are worse, the assembly fit/finis is no better, the the comfort is no better, the infotainment suite is primitive, and the drive is less rewarding. Reliability may or may not be better; I bet it's realistically a wash. Safety is a wash. It's not a bad car, but they sell mostly because they are *NOT* one of the big brands. Basically, hipster-mobiles. Which is fine, every market has its niches.

People make this argument all the time but really these powertrains have been out for a few years now and still there is nothing really bad about these powertrains. Some earlier models had some problems with the supercharger but that is different now and there are many operating over 100k miles. Volvo is a company that gets a lot of hate because they are somewhat of an underdog but in reality they are better than basically any luxury car brand out there.

Looking at a S60 T6 R-Design, but apprehensive about the speed limiter and their talk of limiting the speed to the speed limit later. Pretty much everyone around here goes well over the speed limit, so being limited in the car would be a deal breaker.
@exe01lb1
3 жыл бұрын
On the current models, the speed limiter is a function that can be switched off. It is quite handy when you are driving in towns where you don't really know where the speed limit changes. But you can switch this function off, additionally, it does come with a function to warn for speed cameras etc. At least in Europe.
the only thing i don't really like about the interior is the sort of narrow screen. everything else looks nice.
I’d get a Volvo if I had to get an SUV
“police reported ahead” - floors it
It's a shame Ingenlath is no longer head of design at Volvo. These cars are gorgeous; if the new C40 is any indication, Volvo is headed for a less-beautiful future.

I’m SHOCKED at your compliments about this powertrain. I have the Polestar tuned T6 in our 2020 S90 R-Design, and the engine is without question the weak point in an otherwise phenomenal product. Having test driven the T8 model, I discovered all it did was take what was already a terrible engine, and make it more expensive and more complicated with little return in power or efficiency. In my opinion, the T8 is an incredible waste of engineering...it’s a bandaid awaiting surgery for an all electric transplant.
@vomErsten
3 жыл бұрын
I thought the engine was fine in the T6 and that it was the transmission which was terrible. I can get over brackish, I don't actually like a smooth-riding car and find that disturbingly disconnected. What I can't get over is transmissions with manual shift modes that go on vacation.

As a Polestar Engineered version in the US, I believe it's built in Sweden. China also builds them, but I don't know if they export those to the NA market. Normal versions may come from India, Malaysia, China, or Sweden, depending on where you are located.

Well, the front wheel gets in struggle with the power. Better is, to switch into four wheel drive. The gas mileage is bad. For a hybrid. The e mileage less than 35 kilometers. The price is far into Mercedes range. So all in would I buy this car again? Maybe? But maybe not. It depends, Hyundai or Lexus get the mileage low, but rather no high power output. So having fun, Volvo is powerful, but the Hybrid System is useless. Difficult decisions.
This car sounds like it’s going to be a maintenance nightmare a few years down the road.

@@lordmeme_ An SQ5 or X3 M40i will give you even more for $70k, which is right around the loaded point on the options list. The entire point is that they should be trying to lure people into Volvo to grow the brand and not relying on an incestuous pool of loyalists (or Chinese nationals, if you look at the sales data) to hold them up.
@lordmeme_
3 жыл бұрын
@@vomErsten You’re not wrong about the whole SQ5 and X3 M40i thing(sans any tech they offer) but you are wrong about the whole Volvo Chinese thing. Geely has zero connection with the Chinese government and has held a connection with Volvo for nearly 20 years. Geely mainly just holds the brand, and has a very minimal role in production. Volvo has sold record numbers in the US alone in the past year. Not due to any chinese at all. It’s amazing how many people are so bigoted towards a car brand simply because it’s owned by a chinese company. In that case, hold that same judgement against Stellantis, because some of the production is controlled by Dongfeng, a **state** owned chinese group.

I think you don’t know what a Volvo is, clearly. I also think you haven’t drove one lately. Anyway, to calify this piece of refine engineering as garbage is a bit daring, don’t you think? Of course you prefer german’s. Typical. Respect please. Always respect.
@vomErsten
3 жыл бұрын
@@JavierH.2023 It's not garbage, but it's certainly compromised within the segment. Transmission with useless paddles, extraordinarily limited top speed, reliance on a precariously finite supply of electricity to deliver the advertised performance, suspension requiring manual adjustment (which is cool only as an enthusiast). If you are comparing an SQ5, an X3 M40i, whatever comparable blob Mercedes has, and this Volvo XC60 PE...the benefits of choosing the Volvo are marginal gains where the benefits of choosing at least the Audi or BMW are extremely apparent. Objectively, Volvo sits near the bottom. Subjectively, Volvo is wherever your subjective rubric places it.

@@vomErsten I’m going to answer in spanish if you don’t mind. You can translate it later.
