The only thing I believe you can add to your reviews, is talking about seat height vs. your height/inseam and the approachability. I'm 5'8 with a 31" inseam so I tend to look at bikes from that perspective. While I'm not necessarily expecting to flatfoot on both sides on any given bike, how much of a stretch it could be is some worthy info.

I own a 900 rally pro. Previous bikes are 1290 ktm and Tenere 700. Found the T7 was to small for long touring and taking my wife. The ktm was great for touring, however too big off-road. You have nailed this review. I wanted to have one bike that did it all. The 900 rally pro has done it.

I have a 2021 Triumph Tiger Rally Pro. After I rode it for 6 months on pavement and off, I attended the 2 day off-road course at the BMW Performance Center near Spartanburg SC (which I highly recommend to others). Students must use a BMW motorcycle for the course, so I chose the F850 GS Adventure as it came closest in weight and displacement as my Tiger. I found this review to be very accurate regarding the qualities of the Tiger, and will emphasize the need to tune the suspension to your primary use. Also, I did give the F 850GSA quite the workout during the 2 day course and have yet to encounter anything riding in the real world to exceed the challenges in training at the BMW school. we had limited on-pavement experience at the school (a few laps around the BMW track). I found the Tiger to feel lighter and better balanced than the BMW, and more comfortable on or off the seat for my 6’2” 215lb self. Granted, I did have to add some modest risers to my Tiger and would have needed them if I bought the BMW. I think the BMW 850 is the closest competitor to the Tiger. Equipped with comparable packages to get most of the same features, the cost is nearly identical. I think the Tiger is overall a better value.

Wonderful review! I also own an R 1250 GSA with the factory lowered suspension. I owned an R 1200 GS with the factory lowered suspension prior to my GSA. I'm not an off-road rider, but I just love adventure bikes for their flexibility and choice of top loading panniers. Between the GS and the GSA, I purchased an R1200 RT. Wonderful as a 2-up touring machine. I'm sure some will vehemently disagree with me, but I never did like that bike, or how it handled. I swear my GS/GSA turned in quicker, which makes no sense in that they have a 19" front wheel vs. a 17" front wheel on the RT. I stopped by my local Triumph dealer over a year ago and immediately fell in love with the Tiger 900 GT Pro. Just lifting it up off of the kickstand was a pleasure compared to the GSA. Moving it around the showroom/garage is like moving a Schwinn bicycle vs. the GSA. Then I made the expensive mistake of taking it for a test ride. It just felt like a feather. I recently lost my "riding buddy"/"passenger" to cancer, so I will no longer be touring 2-up. For me, the Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro is the PERFECT bike. While the OEM windscreen is "okay" I wanted a little more wind protection. After a ton of research, I recently went with the National Cycle VStream Short Dark Tint Windscreen P/N N20609. Think I'd prefer the clear version, but they don't make the short in clear. It looks great on my black bike, provides better windscreen protection than the OEM windscreen and the dart tint has not bothered me at all, as I never look through a motorcycle windscreen, but instead, look over it. As a side note, you can leave the small side windscreen wings on and they look great. I'm 5' 9" with a 29.5 inseam, turned 70 over 6 months ago and have been riding for 56 years.. If you're a "senior rider," don't quit riding, but instead, consider downsizing just a tiny bit. Do yourself a favor and look at the Triumph Tiger 900 GT series if you're intimidated by the taller adventure bikes on the market today. Thanks again for the wonderful reviews you do on KZread.

I had my mind set on an Africa Twin but after hearing the Tiger 1200/900, I'm glad I didn't get one yet. Now I'm tosses between the Tiger 1200 and the 900. Is the 900 enough for highway use? I really don't think I need the weight of the 1200 but the power I wouldn't mind having in reserve. Also, is the Pro really worth the cost over the plain Rally?

You mentioned the africa twin dct might sway you to buy instead of the Rally Pro. You didn't mention the quick shift is butter smooth at all speeds and downshifts are great as well. If you just dont want to shift or pull in the clutch at a stop then yes its dct . But to me this makes it really close and with all the other advantages I would give the nod to the Rally Pro.

I test rode it. The heat on my legs was a deal breaker for me. But I've got a 36" inseam so it's probably only an issue if you have long legs. I loved the engine.

Nice review, as always. I have a suggestion. When you do the drop/lift test and give it a rating, it would be nice to see the other bikes you have rated in the same way. That might become cumbersome or busy to show on screen, so maybe link to a chart or something in the description? Cheers!

Also, congrats on what seems like a new 360° camera (?) - some very fine riding shots in this video! Looking forward to what you can do with that in the future. Btw - I don't even own a motorcycle or a license. I just came across the channel while getting riled up to get started on two wheels next year. Thanks for your work and always safe travels!

Probably the "jack of all trades, and master of many" bike in the current market! Only complain is the price, most would go the more affordable route with T7 or Africa Twin, or just pony up and get the big GS. PS: Rest in peace Predoi.

Hi Ian. Great Video.👍 I really appreciate all the hard work you put into these Videos. It Really helps if your in the Market for a New Bike, and also I have learned a lot of things about All the Adventure bikes. It’s incredible how much you can learn about Adventure Riding from your Videos. I do have one small complaint though. I wish you wouldn’t play the Music when you’re Riding. I was really wanting to hear how the Bike sounds also. That’s my only complaint. Otherwise I Love the Videos. Actually I watch All your Videos because I learn so much from them. Stay Safe Ian.👍😁❤️

I have owned a few triumphs with the three cylinder engine. Man, when they are on the pipe, that engine is musical. Love that sound! On long trips on my 2001 Tiger, if the road was clear I'd slow down and lug the engine, then punch it just to hear it growl 🐯🐯

Great video just subscribed. In the market for a new bike. Have a 1st gen Tiger 800 with about 45,000 miles only the shifter broke internally otherwise nothing else. Just blew a fork seal and bike is still wonderful. Use it always loaded with tools to do jobs in NYC and CT jobs. Was going to buy the GS 800 at the time but side by side it just screamed out to me.

I liked your final thoughts especially after watching the Competition chapter. I think bike reviewers focus too much on "this bike is good for onroad and this bike os good for offroad" only. But in reality all ADV bikes are on that sliding scale where they can do both... but its a matter of how well they do one (onroad or offroad) at the compromise of the other. Your final thoughts explained this well

Great review. You definitely go into a lot more detail than most other motorcycle reviews and I do appreciate it. I had a chance to test ride a Rallye Pro at the recent IMS show in Central Florida and I could not agree with you more. Although I was not able to take it off road, the on road experience and performance were very impressive. Keep up the great work you’re doing.

I am a big fan of triples but this one does have vibes and you don't have to go 100 mph. Bottom line is it's just a personal experience. The older model was so creamy smooth I noticed the vibes immediately.

Excellent review. Too bad you didn't ride a bike with the very good quick shifter. I purchased a GT Pro in May and rode it 10,000 miles this summer. The low seat height works for me at 5'8". Fuel range is outstanding. Range is better than 300 miles when ridden on twisty, mountain, back roads.

Just picked up my tiger 900 rally pro from the dealer yesterday. It was snowing as I rode it home, but if I had some better tires on it, I would've kept riding past my garage. Your review seemed to be spot on. The grips don't get quite hot enough, but the hand guards help with that. I'm 5,11and I liked the seat in the high position. It's a very polished bike with a little bit of character tossed in. I'm loving it so far. Although triumph could've made the service intervals a little longer. I'm not looking forward to the valve adjustment.

Excellent review. Having spent the past three years with Triumph's bigger adv bike the 1200 Explorer XC, I feel that Triumph really delivered in every way with the 900 Rally. One thing you didn't mention, but I think is notable, is that the "off road" riding mode does allow a fair bit of rear wheel steering under power as well as braking. I ride the RP, but find myself often choosing this mode over the "pro" mode for the added stability/safety it gives when not riding at maximum aggression. Also... If you leave the key on during short shutdowns and just use the kill switch it will remain in the riding mode you have set.

I owned a 2015 Tiger 800XCx for 5 years. Your review indicated that Triumph has listened to the owners niggles and designed a better bike, not that the Gen 2 Tigers ( 2015-2020) were not great ADV bikes. With regard to twitchy handling, I found that adding about 20-30 Kg of luggage made the Tiger 800 track better on sand. I did fit a steering damper to my Tiger, but I am not sure that it was necessary. The only thing I don't like about the 900 is the 30% price rise.
