Hey, great video. Thank you. Today I got Ultegra C3000HG (2021 version). Is it normal to feel micro movement in the reels handle at the rate every 2nd circle it travels a circle? Or is that a reel defect and i should replace with another Ultegra reel? Hope for your reply, cheers.

Already did this 5 months ago with two 2500's of them and they still running strong. Ultegras are great for the price. Add Carbontex and they are awesome. 😊

Hey I’m looking at getting a 4,000 or 5,000 reel unsure which size and not sure what reel to get either this 1 or the stradic or the saragossa or the daiwa bg mq. Any advice would be great.

In the description you listed Non-Handle Side Bearing (RD13274 or 7x11x3). In the video you talked about two worm bearings and two handel bearing. There is no mention of RD13274?

Hmm I haven't upgraded that reel before. Your best bet is to compare the part schematics from fishshop.shimano.com good luck!

Did you take apart the oscillating paw ? Can a bearing be put there? Also for fresh water, the bail can accomodate 2 bearings without the bushings, etc. Theoretically, you can add 2 additional bearings in addition to the ones you added. Also the Complex XR F4 is noisier than I expected. Thanks, Doc

I did not replace the oscillating pawl. I felt it wasn’t a large enough improvement to play with. Thanks for the extra info doc!!!

It's there any upgrade videos for the sustain c5000 xg fj?

I still can't wait to get my hands on one even though I don't need it right now. This thing is like a Penn Battle III tier improvement over the previous gen. Is the worm gear also a change from last gen? I have never had an Ultegra.

Is it possible to replace the plastic clicker with a "metal" one?

Hey great vids enjoy them a lot. If you upgraded to Swiss ceramic bearings well there sick. I have them on my my.bike. Marketed by DT but made by Hugh but could be Boca. Bearings come in standard sizes so interchangeability is easy . Saw one test on a Islander Centerlpin reel spun forever. Just saying. Keep up good work

Hello I am toorrn between spherroos and ultega, I mostly do inshore saltwater fishing which one should I get.

i took the bail out to clean the inside because sand got inside and when I took it apart there is a spring on the side without the line roller pop out where does it go? been looking for a video that shows how to fix or replace the bail for the ultegra but couldnt find any help!!!

What's the difference between the "HG" model and the "FC" model of that reel? Anyway, is that Shimano reel grease good to be used for all of the internal parts of the reel and is good for other brands of reels as well?

I know the HG Model is the High Gear model but not sure about the FC other than Far Cast? Maybe? I use that grease for all of my reel parts! Great stuff!

It just feels a tiny bit smoother and is a very slight upgrade and for a tiny bit of money if you like to tinker it’s worth it!

Worth the wait! Would you be interested in a Complex F2000 F4 for disassembly? It is disappointing and about the same as a Vanford. Thanks Doc

I would like to ASSUME you would need whatever size reel you are trying to upgrade,per say like look up the replacement bearings for a 4000 Stradic if you are upgrading a 4000 Ultegra and so on.

Can i do this with 5000 version?

I was going to get an FK but since people are asking the same as new,even with a new rendition of the Stradic out already,I am going to get an Ultegra 4000. Have you found any upgrades you can make to the new Nasci or Fuego LT ? So far for the Fuego all I see is the line roller bushing to bearing,and 2 bearings to the knob. But I am scared to open the reel and mess with it since its MagSealed.

Yeah I completely get it I’d hate to ruin my favorite reels I have a new nasci upgrading video coming out very very soon!

What's the point of upgrading to ball bearings if you're gonna gum them up with grease? A tiny drop of oil is all you need to keep them running smooth.

I remove the bushings and size them up with replacement bearings!

Another difference is a C2000S Stradic FL is lighter compare to 20 Ultegra size 1000 Edit: I made a mistake Stradic FL C200S is 185g. 20 Ultegra 1000 is 180g.

Close but not all the way unfortunately...

Being able to open the reel body without messing with the anti reverse clutch is HUGE..!! Exploding one of those is NOT fun. Tell me what the new Ultegra feels like with added bearings. A Stradic for $50 less???

It was a HUGE find that I had!!!! It really does feel like a damn Stradic… for me I’d say I’d rather spend 50$ and get the Stradic with some of the upgrades components

If only the Ultegra had the same drag clicker sound as the Stradic 🙁 that’s the only thing that lets it down

The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel kzread.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.

@@WestCoastFloridaFishing I agree. The Ultegra is just one step down from the Stradic. Not as smooth or refined but still excellent. It's worth upgrading to all bearings if you can. Now the Stradics are VERY worth upgrading to all bearings. I have the FL and Stella's. They are SO very close. 😉

An Ultegra will never be a Stradic no matter how many bearings you put in it. The Stradic has a much stronger aluminum body. The Ultegra has a light body and a heavy rotor. If that was ideal that is how Snimano would have made the Sustain but it is just the opposite of the Ultegra. Instead the Sustain has an aluminum body and a light MGL rotor. Adding bearings to an Ultegra gives you something more along the lines of a sluggish Vanford with more startup inertia as the heavier rotor turns. I mean no disrespect but there are far more important differences between all Shimano reels than simply the number of bearings.

JUST DID THIS UPGRADE IN THE HANDLE KNOB ON MY NEW ULTEGRA.. BUT it doesnt fit... the bearings rae the same as lineroller bearings so i took from my vanford spareparts and one more exat same... used the same schim.. but when i tighten it it doesnt go as it shoulkd... bushings are more quiet. but i want bearings in the knob .. it had to much play but my ood its so much smoother tahn fucking overrated crapford

This is not the correct way - metal plate immediatly after ball bearing (18:12). There must be a shim. And there is too much grease, man!

Bad job. You will destroy worm shaft. You mast put enother shim on biger ball bearing outside on on outer ring of ball bearing.

mky ulktegra is superior tto crapford now days i hate vanford 3 of them broke dowbn after max 6 montths,,., ultegra just go and go and smoother

The money you spent to upgrate Ultegra you buy a Stradic...
