    Your reviews are pretty awesome. I bought the XY400 based much on your review albeit I did watch other reviews too. Yours is pretty spot on. I test the GP180 today and your insight is very much appreciated here. I think watching your GP180 puts things into perspective. Thanks so much for what you are doing with your reviews.

    @@thesighbored The XY400 is just awesome. I'm keeping it as original as possible. I did change the mirrors though to the RacingBoy mirrors. Looked a bit meaner. I vinyl wrap the front and the rear fender to black. Looks much nicer. I left a bit of the lip of the front fender chrome as accent. After watching your GP180 review, I'm pretty much set on this. It's a pity they don't bring in the GP300. I asked for it but alas, they don't have it. I'll pay big money for anyone who can come up with a good excuse for me to tell my wife for getting another bike. She thinks I have too many, whilst I think I don't have enough. Let me see, I ha.ve a CBR600RR 2006, a Benelli tnt300 (which I turned into a caferacer), a XY400...and pretty soon a Royal Alloy GP180. Keep the reviews coming, man and thank you once again. The more reviews you churn out, the more bikes I'll buy.

    @@thesighbored Oh! Yeah. I got around the problem you mentioned about the xy400 always finding false neutral of some sort. I tried clutchless shifting. That sort out the problem when going from 1st to 2nd gear. Now, I'm always finding false neutral from 3rd to 4th. You were right about the pulsating feeling when braking slightly harder on the front brakes. It's unsettling. I'm so use to the braking of my CBR600RR and was expecting the same from the XY400 and subsequently over shot a corner. Don't worry, I didn't crash. I ended up in a grassy embankment though.

    I treated myself to a RA GP300LC and the thing is craaazy fast for a scooter. I had the Speedometer showing 154 Km/h once and i wasn't even riding on an decline. To be fair, I bought a windshield that squeeze a couple more km/h out and the speedometer probably has some tolerance.

    Though torque and speed is lacking, I think it works into its design. I think the GP180 is just nice. I tested the 150 too and found the 30cc different to be obvious. The 250 is pretty OK with nice top speed and could get you in trouble as the small wheels but I just hate the 250 front fender. It looks like a duck bill. It looked 👎. I wished the front fender of the GP250 looks like the GP180.

    "Scomadi scooters were originally manufactured in China by Hanway Motors who initially productionised the Scomadi 3D CAD designs. After many delays,they brought the 50 cc to market in 2015. This was followed by the 125 cc then the 200cc TL models. A court case later ensued where Hanway claimed to have contributed more to the project than the brand owners thought fair. Scomadi themselves claimed that the Chinese producer, Hanway, had "violated Scomadi's intellectual property rights by making scooters under the Royal Alloy brand, which look almost identical to Scomadi designs".[7] Royal Alloy had started producing and selling scooters that were the same scooter as the Scomadi, but with subtle visual differences [8] This court case was found in Hanways favor. Scomadi moved to appeal, but later negotiated to a compromise, which saw the cessation of all legal action between the two by 2019 on condition that the conditions of said agreement were not breached." - from Wikipedia. So yeah, this brand is just China's ripoff of the Scomadi line. But since Scomadi moved productions to Thailand, their bikes are more expensive now, and at least here in Singapore, the newer models are not sold here because there would be too little demand.

  • @faiz434

    @faiz434

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@thesighbored Kinda, the Scomadi line was inspired by the old Lambretta styling but with a modern engine and functionalities. They both look the best for a modern retro scooter in my opinion, but Royal Alloy is actually made in China, so dunno bout the quality. As for Scomadi, old models same same since made in China also but the Thailand production models possibly better quality. But with a heavier price tag tho.

    I worry about the air intake underneath. Water and debris might break this scooter because of the intake placement, don't yoy6 think? Given that this is air-cooled.

  • @thesighbored

    @thesighbored

    3 жыл бұрын

    Most scooters with rear mounted engine usually don't feature any front air intake or air flow.. For the duration I had the bike riding about in the hot weather I didn't see any high temperature issue.. The good thing for air cooled is you don't need to worry about leaking cooler or pump.. Engine capacity is still small, just 169cc so the heat won't be too hot, if larger cc but still air cooled in this hot & humid weather then that would be worrying of possible overheating. For water I would be more concern about the floorboard rusting if the water cannot flow off it than water getting into the engine.

  • @DigitalDanggit

    @DigitalDanggit

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@thesighbored I meant debris and watee might get inside the air intake because it is located under the floorboard of the scooter.

  • @thesighbored

    @thesighbored

    3 жыл бұрын

    I believe there should be some sort of filter element to prevent large debris from entering the intake as well as prevent water to directly entering unless you try to ride thru a flood..
