For the ones that dont know. This engine design started in 1964 . It is the only piston engine design ever to run a sub 4 second run in the 1320. It has been and always will be the king of the 1320. Long live live the Chrysler Hemi.

My dad met Herb McCandless at Indianapolis Speedway in 1971. Herb was driving for Sox & Martin as the #2 car. He was so kind to my father. He allowed my dad sit in the Challenger he was driving at the time while it was running. He showed my dad how every bolt on that car was rifle drilled. Herb said it shed 30lbs. He also showed my dad how he re-routed the brake booster under the dash so the motor could be moved back as far as possible. My dad has told that story 300 times or more. He picked up alot of tips from Herb that day,....and used alot of it on his hemi powered Dart. It's very cool they have Herb announcing and calling these races. Herb is such a legend and brilliant race car builder.

Watching these cars, thinking about how many rolled out of the factory over fifty years ago, and never left the sport they were destined for, is simply amazing.

What a great class

It's great seeing Herb there and I love those 4 speeds, even though they don't resemble the old 4 speeds, they are still 4 speeds.

@@myretirementlife8731 I guess I see things differently. I actually like the parity modern pro classes have. Then again one make series like the Porsche Supercup are some of the racing I like, while most people dislike it.

Just a tip?......us Babyboomers don't give a rat's behind about the silly commentary at the beginning of the video....stop with it please. Those who were there when these beautiful and awesome machines were in their prime do not need to hear some knownothing commentator ramble on about these machines.
