I think they should of made the stitching on the chairs blue to match with the car! But I love the car!!

Those curved headlights are seductive.

The reason they rated the early GT model headlights so poor is because of leveling. The later built GT model headlight beam is raised a bit helping the beam stretch further. They realized that the early GT model headlight beam was a bit too low. If you have an early model you can fix this very easily. Just get a philips screw driver and twist the headlight gear to raise it a bit, be careful not to raise it so high so you won't blind folks.

These are literally the exact videos I have been looking for. I love being able to see what the lights look like at night. I would love it if you could get the good rated headlights and compare the difference!

After watching your video I can definitely see all of the cost cutting Kia did.. but this is a good looking sedan. I saw one (non-GT) on the road the other day. Nice acceleration run on this GT!

The interior is nice. The new exterior looks very sporty. Looks are good, but quality, reliability, and longevity is what matters most. It's has a decent amount of all categories, but not the best. I appreciate you Nolan.

I own a 2021 GT, and really wish they would have put in the ambient lights in the door pockets and the dash like my 2020 Stinger

I definitely can see the cost cutting with this K5. My family has a 2013 Optima EX and it has ambient interior lighting in the center "ashtray", door pockets and that tiny light overhead that shines down on the gear shifter and cupholders.

Wow that's crazy. But I guess this means you can add LED light strips that let you change the color to what you want so it's not stuck to 1 color

@@luism8612 The 2022 K5 GT offers a beautiful Chestnut Brown interior that gives this a nicer two-tone look even with the Sapphire Blue. So I'd get this Sapphire Blue with the Chestnut Brown instead of this all-black interior

Im really disappointed in Kia for this. They've long been touted as the value brand so to see them cut corners like this is quite frustrating. My old 2003 Ford Taurus has a auto-dimming rear view mirror. Its like Kia was betting on styling alone with this one. Im disappointed. Love the night reviews! Please keep them coming.

Looking at their numbers, its all down to how far the low beams went. 1st version: Straightaway right edge 49.2 m and Straightaway left edge 41.2 m for 5 lux of light vs Straightaway right edge 96.2 m and Straightaway left edge 62.4 m. This was also the case with curves. The high beams also saw a bit of an increase. Good to know since mine has the latter. Not that I drive at night any more.. well until winter i guess.

Korean market K5 gets ambient lighting and digital 10.25 guage cluster with a rotary shift by wire transmission. Korean specs gets everything. They cut cost for pricing reasons for the U.S. market. Most likely they will add those features in a refresh model with the new incorporate Kia logo.

I hope so. The new KIA badging was already implemented in US starting July. Since the K5 is all new, we won't see a refresh for years. They can include the accent interior lighting in 2022 models if they want to. The car is already $36,000 USD, how much more could it be -- a couple hundred?

Korean model also gets a headlight leveling dial next to the steering wheel. Incidentally, that blue color is called 'Yacht Blue' here for some reason (only available with the 1.6T spec). Not too many on the roads here where white and black are by far the most popular.

Although I love this K5 I’m disappointed that Kia neglected to keep many features the optima had. Quilted Napa leather with burgundy and white color options, auto dimming rear view mirror, 360 degree rear view camera, rear seat sunshades, auto folding side view mirrors, reverse-tilt side view mirrors, swiveling headlights and the beautiful titanium grey exterior color option. I love the k5 gt but I’ll hold on to my 16 optima for a little longer and see what the next gen Mazda 6 and accord are all about 👀

That bright spot infront of the car is very disappointing, yes you can manually adjust the lights but then it is something which should have been taken into consideration when installing the lights that the high beam does not necessarily have to shine down infront of the vehicle but further and higher

Good review. I agree 💯 on the interior details the GT is lacking; typical on most other cars at this price point (GT1 Pkg = $36,000 car). No auto dimming inside or outside mirrors. No glove box light. No ambient interior lighting. Is there a trunk light? KIA Website mentions an optional LED trunk light for $300 extra. That must be some light!

I don't think the poor and good headlights are physically any different. I'm just guessing when manufacturing the light they messed up the setting or smth. My guess is you can fix the models built before December by taking it to a dealer or just do it yourself with a screwdriver.

I was surprised that KIA moves away from their red interior lights and going to the same color as Hyundai

I have the EX trim and I love this car. It is missing a few convenience features though but it hits the mark on all of the big stuff. This video mentioned a few shortfalls and I’ll add to that: - Auto folding side mirrors - Auto dimming rear view - Frameless mirror - Sunglasses holder - Auto lock doors when walking away - Heads up display* (GT may have this) - Ability to change welcome/startup screen - Auto wipers dependent on rain - 360 cameras or add’l back up views The rest of what he mentioned is negligible and I barely notice in real world scenarios (such as high beam stuff, no light in glove box, etc.).

I believe auto dimming is an option. I have an EX as well and I have auto wipers. I do wish it had a front camera like my wife's Ascent.

My 2012 mustang has an auto dimming rear mirror and i’ve grown to love it. So weird this car doesn’t have that.

Damn $35k. I got my 2021 Mazda 3 turbo for $29k it’s just as fast and has everything this car has and it’s Mazda which is ranked national by consumer reports as #1 in reliability.

Yes and that’s what Kia should do with these. Most people don’t realize you can, but then I’m sure lots of people that DO actually adjust their headlights go too high.

At this price point, just get the stinger turbo. You at least get AWD so you don't have to deal with wheel hop at every start.

Hopefully U don't have to dismount the bumper cover to replace them. That's exactly what Chevy did on new BLAZERS. They designed them with Incandescent brake light/turn sig. Combo bulbs; everything else LED.

Digital cluster is a must now days dam even aftermarket is full of them and for dirt cheap car companies are so cheap they make it sound like it’s a big deal when they put some screens when after market sell way better screens for like 400$ lol and car companies charge 1000s for some stupid ugly screens

year 2021 no Ambient light = no good, shame on Kia.
