    I just switched from polaris to Kawasaki. I didn't realize the 300 didn't have an oil filter until i had already bought it. You did a great job on this video man. Thanks

    it's a bit common for these smaller motors to not have a filter. I had a Honda 200M trike and a Honda 250R trike. neither had a oil filter and served me well for a lot of hard miles. just means regular maintenance is that much more important. and a flush may be needed if the new oil is getting dirty right away after a change. However my Kawasaki 300 Lakota had an oil filter, and i would prefer if this brute did. But the machine size was just the right one for my kiddo's next machine before going to something too big.

    Thank you!!! Very helpful videos for starting my maintenance. I recently bougth a brut force. I am in Argentina. I tested an d compared with an Honda TRX420 in beach dunes, It´s far behind the Honda in performance climbing the dunes.

    Terrific video and narration on the proper way to do this service. I've seen vids where only the screen plug was removed for drainage. Did you get any additional oil when you removed yours, couldn't tell with my phone. My 1st service is pending on my 22' Bravo & thanks!

    I didn't get much at all. just what was caught in the plug and screen basically. but pulling that screen and cleaning it is the best chance of catching any early signs of critical damage as it will catch the larger shavings. just pulling the screen for a oil change may not give a full drain either. you also wouldn't have the benefit of checking the magnet on the drain plug. so I do recommend pulling both at each oil change.

    I haven't been able to find a reliable image of the crank case covers but my guess is you would possibly get mosy but not all the oil out from the screen plug. Therefore possibly not get a complete drain.

    I have an exact same 4 wheeler and just did an oil change your video helped a lot. Everything went good until a few days after and I can't see the line where the oil is any more there isn't any oil underneath on the floor either. Any tips

    Assuming it hasn't been lost by leak or blowby. When the oil is very clean if it's over full than the parts behind the glass will look slightly golden. If it's low than you will see it looks more silvery. The bikes don't take a lot of oil so even just a little sideways lean can make the oil level look low or high. So lift each side of the atv and see if you can see the oil line at that time. If it's too high, lift the right side (side with the glass). If it's low lift the left side.

    I haven't yet. it's going to be part of the winter maintenance this year. Along with a coolant flush. The coolant flush is more because the manual states the coolant is mixed light and is good for about -15c. so luckily we didn't crack something last winter as we hit as low as -40ish. So new coolant at a richer mix is a must for my climate.

    Hi guys just doing a oil change and I pulled the oil plug, all good there but just attempted to pull screen plug but quite bit harder to release the bolt , any tips out there???

    It really shouldn't be much tighter. But in order to reduce the possibility of slipping and stripping the hex side. Use a 6 point socket. Not a multy point socket. And support the head of the ratchet very well. Use the shortest socket/extension combination you can. And just double check the ratchet is set to counter clockwise.

    To be honest, I used to use conventional auto oil all the time. but that was in old Honda trikes. like a Honda 200m and a Honda 250R. as well as a Kawasaki Lakota 300. I never had issues through the life of each machine. And I'm pretty sure the oil in my 2005 Brute Force 650 is 10w30 synthetic auto oil right now. It is getting switched out to the 4T JASO MA2 for this season and going forward. And as I ride year round I would swap the viscosities based off the current temperature extremes I would be riding in based off a viscosity chart. But as oils have progressed and advanced I'm moving more to using the recommended oils like the 4T JASO MA2 oil that Kawasaki recommends. I can't publicly recommend you use auto oil as it would definitely be best to follow manufacturers recommendations and would also be required for warrantee purposes, I assume. This is just an account of my personal experiences with this.

    The 300 doesn't have a filter. Just the pre-screen to remove large particles. That makes it important to keep up on the oil changes and clean that pre-screen each time. The larger brutes have a filter (600-700cc).

    Good God you are paranoid. Torque wrenches CAN'T overnighten if you set them. Just turn as fast as you want til it clicks.

    New atv owner same as yours I have a question how do you get fuel in the reserve tank? Does it go in automatically?

    The reserve is just the bottom inch or less of the tank. There are 2 pickups in the tank. The main pickup is higher in the tank so that any buildup of water and residue doesn't regularily get to the carb. This would be the worst if you have water and the bike has been sitting. You would have pure water in the carb. The reserve pickup is right at the bottom of the tank. So use it if you ever need to drain the tank fully.
