I want the 392, but I have this on order supposedly ready February. Super excited. Most of my driving is under 25 daily miles and the torque will allow for big tires without having to re-gear. I don’t believe this will be a big gas saver from the regular 4, except in ev only. You can’t fight aerodynamics and be efficient. Doing the math, 17.5 gal gas tank and 400 mile range=

Pretty bummed about the performance announced. It's great that it's electric, but considering its almost 25% more HP than my 2019 JL, why is its 0-60 only a little more than half a second better? Not that I'm buying Jeeps to race things :) ...but with the additional price tag that is sure to come, you'd figure you'd get more for almost 100hp diff.

I skipped the whole JK generation... but went from YJ > TJ > JL. After owning a new JL for 2 years now, it's turned me off from getting excited about anything for the future of off road vehicles. Reliability, excessive electronics and sensors, the cost of repairs and the "amazing" warranty coverage from most dealerships if you do anymore than drive to and from work with the thing. I already have anxiety about how many years I'll get out of mine and would sell it now if I wasn't going to loose so much on it already. My next vehicle is going to be a completely rebuilt and modded TJ. Hell, for what I payed for my Rubicon forget about EV... would have covered my gas for the next couple of decades if I just kept my old one and fixed it up. I've even kicked around the idea of a trade in for the upcoming Bronco... but just can't wrap my head around buying new again. Never thought I'd see the day where I'd be so torn about owning a Wrangler. 🤦‍♂️

@@MrXerxes I honestly held off and ordered a 2019 early for that particular reason which saved me no headaches. I can't really answer the other part since reliability is a pretty big thing to me, and if it's not that than does anything else really matter? Plus there's somethings I just won't do with it that I did on a regular basis with my TJ. Such as water crossings with the doors and roof off just for example. Park it in the sun for the rest of the day and she just didn't care. And that was my daily driver too! The JL might be just as (maybe even more) capable when everything's said and done. But it's kind of neutering on the trails at the same time.

I like this a lot and can appreciate that it has minimal electric range. But I really think we need to hit a range of 50ish miles on all electric. While most people can get away with 25 it’s not likely going to hit that u less everything is perefect. And on top of that I live in the north east where cold weather will probably half this number. And it’s a Jeep. I want to put wider and bigger tires plus rims. I’ll be down to 7-8 miles of all electric by the time I’m done. At 50 we would likely bet out closer to 20-25.

On never plugging in, yes. You can drive like a Prius in Hybrid mode. E-save is for 2 main reasons. If you want to save your batteries for serious 4 wheeling, you can drive all motor to your destination, then go to hybrid, or EV mode to use your batteries. The other reason is mainly for overseas...they have areas of certain cities (London, Shanghai) where you have to use only EV, or you are fined. London is 20 pounds a day!

@@Erin-Thor Yes, but no. To be a one motor hybrid (not two like a Prius or Volt), the engine can only task limited electric functions at a time like when it is generating electricity, the generator/motor is sapling like 10hp - 40hp or more to charge the battery - dependant on the SOC and throttle demand. If somebody really doesn't charge these cars, the engine stress, battery performance and most noticeable the fuel economy being shit and tired. What is an unspoken downside to these found in most "sporty phevs" is a clunky power delivery with the swapping between electric boost, coast and regen with the use of the dual clutch transmission. The single unit two motor/generator hybrids can, _like synergy,_ generate, store, ration and dissipate energy to different functions at the same time - which helps to make that eCVT feeling. You don’t really need fast charging since it’s not full electric. Overnight at home voltage or 2 hours with a dedicated charger for a full charge on this is fine. Fast charging is a big deal on all electrics since the batteries have SO SO SO much more capacity and there’s no gas engine backup. If you’re on a road trip in a Tesla and can access a supercharger, you can plug in and get nearly a full charge while you stop for lunch. Not needed in a hybrid with a gas engine. I think this thing is pretty damn cool, especially if you don’t have a long commute. Run errands and short trips on electric during the week and go wild on the weekend. Wranglers are already overpriced though, so I’m dying to see what the hybrid adds to the cost.
