2021 Honda City RS, 253 Nm Torque - Ultimate Test Up Genting Highlands / YS Khong Driving

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here you go, guys and girls, the test that many have asked for - the Honda City RS going up Genting Highlands. See how all of the 253 Nm of torque is used for the entire climb from the bottom all the way to the top.
The body can certainly take more than what we could throw at it, but the additional power is put to good use helping the City make its way up faster than what a naturally aspirated 1.5 litre engine could do.
And guys, don't forget to like and subscribe if you haven't already done so.
And of course we can sell you the City RS through our channel - if you should choose to book this or any other Honda through our channel, it would certainly contribute towards keeping this channel going.
Check it out at shop.yskhongdriving.com or whatsapp us at 016 3350609.

    thank you uncle for ACTUALLY showcasing the 253Nm instead of those "why buy this over the 1.8 ketam"... aside from the random woo woo engine sound (i know that's when you step on the paddle), this is very thrilling drive 👍🏻 big turning corners no sweat

    Actually I find the torque really helps if you carry loads and climb. More significant feeling. At the 2 left turning steep hairpin corner on the way to the peak, where most car struggles, the high torque make is easy. Sharing from my Ioniq experience. Thank you Mr Khong for this drive. Most anticipated one i guess. Just want to know, does the battery ever run out of juice throughout your run?

    @@YSKhongDriving ya I did notice you mentioned in the mid of the video but I assume the peak climb (2nd climb) should taken more battery out as there are more steep acceleration. My Ioniq ran out of juice when almost reaching the peak, so totally rely on engine power. Seems then this RS charge better. Noticeable Atkinson cycle engine do give a bit of roar when pushed.

    Wonderful video ‼️ I was wondering if it would be better to drive uphill in pure EV mode? You know like making the car a series hybrid ( Nissan note) where the ICE works only to produce the juice required for the electric motor. This because Torque from electric motor we know is instant and does not have to go through the clutch media and multi speed gearbox before becoming useful.

  • @YSKhongDriving

    @YSKhongDriving

    The hybrid battery is relatively small, so the engine may step in to assist, but yes, the main is the motor with the 253Nm torque.

    Its made for fuel economy but the car is just too fun to drive. In Malaysia we say tekan pegi tekan pegi, when you press it goes, no questions asked. I got the HB version of this and dropped my fuel economy to 18/L hahaha. Yes its bad but I bought it for the driving experience. I didnt spend over 100k to drive it like an aunty. No offence to aunties xd. If you do drive like one then yes you can maintain a very high fuel economy like what Honda says. For anyone who is interested in buying the car from a user.

    I heard uncle said the paddle shifter not that responsive make me think of, how paddle shifter works in city hybrid since there is no gearbox? electronic controller just to simulate the gearbox?

  • @YSKhongDriving

    @YSKhongDriving

    It is a switch to increase or reduce the regenerative level; increasing the regen helps to retard the car a little. Totally defeats the function of the paddle shifter.

    Seem like this car does exhibit quite some understeer judging by the way you have to correct the steering when compared to the way you drove the yellow Porsche 911 up Genting in another video. But then it's not fair to compare a normal sedan to a performance car like the Porsche. In the Porsche drive, you look so confident and at ease even when taking corners at such high speed.

    no one can tell how to play the regenerative control , Honda put it out for adjust it has some fucntion to play with, since this car has no gearbox , the regenerative let the drive choosing the engine power go more or go less to charging or traction, i had see some car reveiw say the engine respond take 4sec to pick up speed worst than a turbo car, i think that has some play on this + - level 🤔

    Sweet, could be a cool car for someone to city drive as well since claimed up to 3.6L/100km. Means easily over 800km on a full tank. Also Uncle could u try to test drive Preve the turbo/cfe model. I know its an old car, but the other day I kena tapau uphill genting haha. I drove my wife's Passat at the time n didn't try to follow him that spirited but man either his driving is good or the car handling is also that good. Or was it you lol?

  • @YSKhongDriving

    Good choice, I mean the City RS. As for the Preve, it is an old car, and in the hands of a good driver, it can be quite good. It could also have been modified. No, it was not me, hahaha. The weakest link in the drive train would be the cvt, which has a limitation on the max torque it can take, and a conversion to a manual for the old Preve would open up many possibilities in the hands of a good tuner. The Exora manual trans would be a straight fit, and you can get 250 horses easily.

    @@YSKhongDriving from my observation the Preve seems dead stock as i can hear the rpm just maintain a constant rev and might be good tyres with rims changed and plain looking but shook me nonetheless how planted (it seems) through corners. Sure, the machine is only as good as the driver, I know u proved it many times already like the Kia Carnival. Also, u ahh uncle bikin org susah wo haha. I shown my wife this video and she also watched your review of the City hatchback RS, and guess what, we gonna have a test drive next week haha. Wish us luck.
