I like how you drive around like a normal person and just recorded the experience. It helped with enjoying the actual experience most people are going to use it for.

This is how Ford should have continued the styling of the Escape in the 3rd generation before they changed it to an egg.

@@dave_riots Its like Its Nick said, Around the 2010s, during the demise of the sedan/saloon all manufacturers started making egg shaped CUVs. Then for the boxy SUVs that made sense came SUV "coupe" versions. I think that boxy is coming back in style because some of us consumers missed that ruggedness and added usefulness. The Bronco, Bronco Sport, Kia Telluride and Land Rover Defenders are recent boxy SUVs turning heads.

This is one of the best car reviews I have seen, hands down. Thank you for actually telling us about the vehicle, how it drives, how it feels on the road, showing the interior, and engine. As opposed to spending 10 to 15 minutes on what the touch screen can do. I buy a vehicle to drive, not to play on the touch screen, while I'm driving. It looks like Ford did a great job on developing this vehicle. It would be a nice little daily driver for me. The only negative I saw, was what you observed, it looks like it has a stiff, bouncy ride. I'm not sure at 60 years of age, if I want that. People complaining about a three cylinder, have to realize, that's the way the industry is going, small engines with lots of power. Think small block V-8's from back in the day, and you have a pretty good comparison. If the powertrains hold up, Ford will definitely have a winner on their hands.

I have a Big Bend trim with the 3 cyl and it drives and sounds like a 6 cylinder with a lot of torque. It’s awesome.

I will say one thing that I loved this video and excited to watch more quality in the future , So yah best of luck 👍👍👍

The entire design, especially the interior, is so much better and more cohesive than the terrible new Escape. That said... I did have a laugh at a towing package on a 1.5 liter.

The towing package is beneficial for the transmission cooler and rear receiver which is great for use with a bike rack. Anyone with sense wouldn’t actually tow with it.

Just had the opportunity to drive the Badland edition, and I really liked it. I immediately dismissed it previously as a rebadged Escape, but I was surprised. Firstly, very good driving experience. The engine has good power, the steering has good feedback and great on-center feel, and it's refined. It felt really solid, and I was not expecting that at all. On the highway, I caught myself going over the speed limit many times due to its refinement. Comfortable interior, and really powerful heating/heated seats. I just really loved how solid it felt going down the road. The AWD system is really good! Turning off the stability control, it was really easy to get rotation in the snow. I had to drive it to the airport during a snow storm, and it felt so stable on the highway!!! The headlights are really good! Really, I wasn't expecting to like it so much since I drove a new Escape and it felt really different. I liked the stiff ride, as it imparted a solid feel to the vehicle. The driving position is great, and it looks great in person. Like a mini LR Defender. The sculpted hood is really cool to look at when driving. Lastly, I loved the size of it. Truly maneuverable and agile. In terms of downsides, the 2.0T seemed to really eat gas. Probably because of the aerodynamics and the good performance. Also, the speakers were truly mediocre. There was a very obvious rattle under heavy bass. Overall, I'd really recommend it. It's priced higher than other subcompact SUVs, but it truly feels more expensive due to its solidity, good performance, and solid driving dynamics. I'm a fan! Edit: The transmission calibration was significantly better than in the Escape. That was one of my biggest qualms I had with the Escape. In the Bronco Sport, it felt pretty well tuned.

I like how you did the sound system test, not many vehicle reviews mention the sound system AT ALL, I know it's through a video and not hearing it first hand but it's nice to get a glimpse of what it's like, I'm on a budget and constantly listen to music while driving so it's nice to get an idea of what the money would get me!

I found it pretty cool in the drive part of the review in how you positioned your camera so it would also view the rear view mirror!

Drove a Renault Clio 3 cylinder 900cc turbo 5-speed in Portugal last year. Cruised at 95+ mph with 3 people and luggage on board and got 47mpg even when driving like a maniac. Americans should try smaller cars once in a while, they might realise that they don't need a 6000lbs V8 pickup that gets 11 mpg to go to church and Walmart. Small cars with small displacement engines have been around for a while in the rest of the world and they work.

Winter beater car of the future. I look forward to picking up a 2-3yo one in the low 20s.

i’m ready to see a shop get ahold of a bronco sport with the 3 cylinder and put some work into it: intake, slight exhaust, and tune! Would be fun to see one go about 210 or so and see the difference over stock!

That’s a really nice looking SUV. Ford did a nice job with the design.

I like this design inside and out. This seems much more interesting than the Escape from which it is based on. I might give this a look next year.

We just pick up a 2023 Big Bend. Love the sound of the 3 cylinder. Sounds like my old 4.0 Jeep Cherokee XJ.

A Big Bend Package is offered which addresses many of the Reviewer's concerns. This package includes six items; 8-way power driver seat, heated front seats, power moonroof, Reverse Sensing System, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and wireless charging pad.

Out of all the crossovers out there, this ones one of the best looking that isnt higher end

I got to see these being tested in Beckley, WV while I was there for work. They were still camouflaged and the testers were very vague when I would try and ask some questions on them. They were comparing them against a few different Jeep models.

Ofc as less companies offer cars, the ones still selling them will look good. But then facts and numbers allude you. ITs the Ranger pricing formula, except the ranger was and is now a 10-12 year old design, at least the Bronco is new. I noticed on the engine shot though, is this Bronco a front wheel drive? Look like engine was sitting sideways and that indicated FWD to me?

I would definitely go for the trim level with the leather steering wheel. Sound system sounds pretty good, another important thing for me. 1.5 seems to move out pretty good. Specs on that engine aren't very different from my turbocharged Mini countryman with a 2.0 4 cylinder.

Coolest small SUV on the market right now. Love the utilitarian interior and beefy tires. Wish more manufacturers would do rugged SUVs. Most look like you can bend their stupid large wheels climbing a curb. 3 cylinders sound amazing.

@@ABeans07 standard 4WD and good angles would say otherwise. It's a good vehicle for regions with bad weather and lots of trails. It's not insane or anything, but it's a good affordable option for daily driving while also being able to tackle mild terrain

I appreciate Ford attempting to bring some of the fun Bronco character a more affordable model, but I agree with some of your interior critiques. A few of those materials could be at least a little nicer. And I’m not sure I trust that 1.5L 1-3 long term...I wish they would have done perhaps a hybrid model if they really wanted to achieve higher fuel economy. I’d just go for the 2.0L personally. But great video!

Those c pillars are absolutely massive.

I wish he had pushed it as hard as he had pushed the Crosstrek Sport in his other video. I wanted to get a sense of how it does when you mash on the throttle. The storage situation with the BS is way better than what you get with the Crosstrek, as well as better approach and departure angles. Electronics are on par as well at similar price points. So long as performance outpaces the 2.5L variants of the Crosstrek, this seems like the more useful choice at the expense of a little mpg.

Kinda what I was thinking. The specs are relatively impressive, upper hundreds from a turbo 1.5, but I'll be damned if I pay 30k+ for a 3cyl. Ford's getting insane with their pricing.

The "firm" ride may be due to too much air in the tires, I test drove one and it had 40 psi instead of the 33 recommended!

its good for what it is. a small funky crossover to compete with renegade and trailblazer. do worry about these 3 cylinders long term though.

Very similar interior switchgear to my MK4 Focus ST-Line, minus that steering wheel which seems to come straight out of a base trim Fiesta.

It baffles me that somehow either the previous owner took them out or the dealer lost them, but mine (just acquired a used Big Bend) did not have the rubber mats. I was so disappointed, but other than that it's been a fun car. On the subject of price: You can't touch a used one of these for much less than $37,000 in the northeast.

@@sgtspooktaylor9552 it will break earlier than non-turbo 4 - or 6- or 8 - cylinder engine. Way earlier. And premium gas only. And expensive oil only.

@@vito_n False. It can run just fine on 87 octane. Ford even recommends it.

I’ve read all the knocks about the smaller engine but really who needs to go from 0 to 60 miles an hour and three seconds I mean I’m more interested in saving money on gas and I just need something that I like and gets me from point a to point B so I got no problem with the smaller engine I’m looking forward to my big bend

My dad has one it is nice and the 3 cylinder turbo charged is fast enough for what it weighs.

Wow that's nice. its like a crv the rubber floor mats will make cleaning so much easier.

You can get them on any vehicle.

you mention the somewhat stiff ride, quite often the tires DO have a lot more pressure in them than is recommended on the door stickers.

I drove one yesterday. They are much smaller than you imagine. It is absolutely tiny, but other than that it was really nice. Just way too small for my needs, hopefully the real broncos start trickling out sooner than expected.

Ford makes some beautiful interiors. Even better than some of the top of the line luxury vehicles. However if Ford can constantly improve on their Powertrain and seriously address complaints, they can be number one again

I see a lot of the 2020 Ford Escape interior bits in this Bronco... that’s not a bad thing, I wish manufacturers would differentiate a little more though.

Nice review as usual. I do have to say Ford’s 3-cylinder engines have the same type of sound as the Rotax 3 cylinder engines found in Sea-Doos.

Thoughts on NVH at speed? Looking to replace my 2015 Mazda 3 and I often need to drive on some rugged access roads up to cell towers. I'm also camping a lot more and once or twice a year will tow a dirt bike. Really thinking the Bronco Sport is good for all this. But my biggest complaint is how LOUD the Mazda is on the highway. How's the BS compare?

ROFL host fooled by fake engine noise - "I do like how these turbocharged 3 cylinder turbos sound. They have a little bit of a V6 engine growl to them."

So refreshing to see a hydraulic lift tailgate which can open 10x faster than any electric motor lift.

The badlands edition with the 4 cylinder turbo, 250 hp is the one to buy.

Base wrangler sport has thicker tires, higher ground clearance, double the power in a v6 and removable body. If you want the off road character, get the wrangler or larger bronco base.

I'm getting a Land Rover Discovery II and a Honda Element vibe from this CUV. :)

Play "Sound System 009" next video. But yea you're right the steering wheel could of been better. Looks early 2000's to me.

I like the styling but the road noise is insane at highway speeds and it does look like it rides rough.

Rough? Man, I own this 1.5 Bronco Sport and sometimes I feel it is so "girly" and over comfortable that I wonder if I am accustomed to old cars. Maybe you guys are used to drive luxury cars or idk, but for me, this SUV is very easy to drive, turn, go over bumps. Suspensions are very good and give a nice ride quality.

I wonder how much opinions will change when these become a super common sight on a daily basis. Definitely cool looking now though.

Sounds like strain in the long run to have Turbochargers on any engine, especially smaller ones. All because Congress wants fuel efficiency. Not realizing how an extra 2 mpg can harm the longevity of the vehicle ruining the benefit for the mpg. A 4 or 6 cylinder should be fine like those older 2001-2004 escapes.

Probably makes sense for Asian/European markets with strict regulations, but having the smaller engine in US with dirt cheap fuel ain't sound right.

You know what will be great if with only down the back seat your convert the convencional car to a pickup. That's will be fantastic.

They missed an opportunity to call this the Bronco II. I’m thinking this competes with the new Chevy Trailblazer with its 3 cylinder. But it really sounds like a V6.

Now you know why Ford styled the Escape that it looks like a raised hatchback - the Bronco Sport is closer to the mk1 Escape in the early 2000s than the new Escape is. Given its affordable price and styling, I suspect this would be quite popular if at the expense of some Escape sales.
