2021 Chrysler Pacifica | AWD Minivan Family Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Thanks to my day job at Kelley Blue Book, I drive and review lots of cars. This Chrysler Pacifica all-wheel drive is one of them. The 2021 Pacifica competes with mainstream minivans like the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna. In this video, me, my wife, and our daughter test a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica all-wheel drive Limited Trim to review its positives and negatives from a family perspective.

Not only does Stow N Go work great, but the cargo area with the seats down was specifically designed to fit 4x8 sheets of drywall or plywood. There are even little guide notches at the opening. It's such a versatile vehicle, and arguably the most versatile in it's segment.

I sold it to a friend. The one before that was a 1998 had almost 200k and I sold it to someone in my hometown and it was still roaming around when I moved a year ago. And I don't disagree that Chrysler has some cars that aren't great. But As far as reliability I would put a town & Country right up there with a Camry. I've seen it first hand and had a bunch of them. They can take a lot of abuse and just keep on trucking! And as a bonus parts for them are really cheap. Nice review! My 3 kids are all in their 20's now and I just bought myself a low mileage 2019 S package Pacifica. I always kind of wanted a minivan but my wife refused haha. I freaking love this thing and I already have over 1000 miles on it in less than 2 weeks. I bought it primarily to serve as a personal cargo van and secondarily as a people hauler when we are all together. The stow and go is awesome and the van is super comfortable and easy to drive (even sporty). I've owned literally 30+ vehicles in my life mostly pickup trucks, SUV's and sports cars (I traded a subaru Sti for the van) and this is right at the top of my list for overall package. I haven't put a mile on my F250 truck since I bought the van despite making several trips to box stores for full sheets of plywood and other supplies plus moving large furniture. The only thing I will trade this van for down the road will be the AWD version.

With an open differential, traction control is actually your friend as each wheel is controlled individually and when you brake one wheel on an open differential, the full torque on that differential transfers to the other side, where you presumably have more traction.

The first, last, and only Chrysler product I've ever owned was a 1963 Dodge Dart with the famous "Slant 6" engine that got me through college and made a number of cross country trips then and for a few years after. The only minivan I've ever owned was a Mazda "MPV" with AWD (the only AWD minivan available in the early 1990's.) My wife and I didn't need a minivan but it was a lightly used vehicle owned by a friend and it seemed like a versatile vehicle that would be good for ski trips to the Cascade mountains. Its most outstanding trait was saving my wife's and my lives by getting us out of deep snow on a logging road ditch many miles from nowhere. I doubt I could have extracted it without AWD. Some years later when I suggested we look at another minivan my wife vetoed the idea. She didn't want to be seen as a soccer mom and that meant an SUV was the vehicle for her. Now we're a family of two adults, a teenage daughter and a big dog. There's no minivan in our future. We just don't need that much space and my wife hasn't changed her mind about them. Still, I retain a fondness for their versatility especially now that AWD has finally been reintroduced to the a couple of the few remaining minivans on the market. If I were in the market I'd look seriously at the Pacifica. As the video demonstrates it appears to be a fine choice for winter trips to the mountains. Its innovative interior design is extremely versatile. And if I needed a vehicle for six to eight passengers on a regular basis, even for longer trips, the Pacifica seems to be an especially strong contender.

Earlier 9-spd autos had some issues, and the 3.6 with the engine module controller, but since then I've heard no issues about either (this would've been about 2011/2012).

I drove one as a rental for a week when the Pacifica first came out a few years back. I have to say it drove nice and everything was very functional. I actually liked it a lot. But I was worried the long term reliability of Chrysler products so I ended up buying a Sienna in 2019 when it was time to replace my minivan.

My first 2011 Town and Country had 178,000 on it before someone hit it and totaled it. The only things I had to replace that wasn't a "consumable part" was the alternator and one parking sensor. My second 2011 Town and Country had 164,000 miles on it when I traded it in for a Pacifica Limited S. It only needed a front brake caliper when I replaced the brakes. Both were trouble free. My 2021 now has just 27,000 on it, and it's been perfect. There is more hype than truth about Chrysler's reliability. I've owned many Mopars and never had major issues.

As she points out, the touchscreen is difficult to operate when driving. A common problem nowadays. I want to know when automobile makers are going to incorporate ergonomics in designs. When will they realize that physical buttons for some functions is easier and safer?

I have owned a toyota sienna for years. But the 2021 model went to a 4 cyl which gives it great mpg but really hurts the power. So now it is time to change out and I'm looking at the 6 cyl odyssey or the Pacifica. The AWD is a big pull in the Pacifica.

It keeps reminding me of a half price Lincoln Nautilus haha. But hey the 35000 price on that Pacifica my make it worth liking something big and practical around

Hi I am living in an Mitsubishi Outlander that I have fitted out with solar electricity and a kitchen and even a 32 inch flat screen. It is perfect though I think the extra space of a Chrysler would be useful. For one thing I travel with a four man tent for storage and the Chrysler Pacifica would probably allow me to go tent less. I think I will visit Chrysler and see what a trade in will cost me.

I like the Pacifica. Im torn between it and the sienna. I need awd and the electric awd sienna doesn't have the best traction system, but i love the 36 mpg. Downside is the sienna 10k more for a package with dvd player and still nowhere the features and convenience of the Pacifica. Vacuum, 360 camera, stow and go, etc. I just worry about the Pacifica long term after the warranty is over.
