2021 Audi SQ8 | Replacing Sports Cars

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We review the 2021 Audi SQ8 SUV Coupe. The sports car and sedan world is shrinking and these strange crossover attempts continue to flourish with extreme price tags. On paper and mechanically it is everything that a high-performance machine should be along with all-season capabilities. We discuss the good and bad so you the viewer can decide if spending $108,000 is worth it. Other vehicles to consider are the Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes AMG GLE, BMW M Coupe, Tesla Model Y, and Durango Hellcat.

They're going to.have the screen no matter what, for navigation maps, as well as lists of music and a few other things that work better with a large display. The problem is removing HVAC and basic audio hard controls. Most makes have realized people do want some controls, and put them back. There are also steering wheel. Controls for some things.

Because the relative benefit of extra height and cargo capacity for most people outweighs the relative benefit of a lower center of gravity and lighter curb weight. There will still be some purists who insist on a low slung sports car but cars like an SQ8 can get you to 95% of that for most people in the market at this price point. These sort of SUVs are here to stay.

It'll be like all Audi's like this similar to my Audi's that went from $60K to $6K in ten years and while great when they're , that's pretty much not common. You need to have 1. a solid Japanese luxury car as a backup because that'll be boring but bulletproof 2. a rather large bank account. Using the math I've done from all previous Audis if this costs $100,000 it means in ten years it'll cost $10,000 and where the cost to you during warranty will be next to zero while you make $1,000 car payments after the lease is done and traded in and winds up in someone's hands in ten years IF it's still even running that person will have to put approximately, and not even a made up number, around $1,000 on average per month (based on $12,000 yearly cost in repairs) to keep it running. So either way you're paying a grand a month long term regardless of where it is in its life PLUS the cost of a second car that will get used at least once a month while your Audi is at the stealership or a trusty third-party Audi repair shop. The final cost of owning a $100,000 Audi all told across owners after ten years can be over a million dollars, easily.

Great review. Thanks so much. I do have a question that I am hoping this reviewer or any posters here might post an answer or further input on. I just watched both of his reviews, on the 2021 Q8 and 2021 SQ8. Both great. I am torn as to which to get. I like the better mpg of the Q8, but some of those additional features of the SQ8, in addition to the more powerful engine, are awfully appealing. Though I think some of the mechanical/electronic things he describes in this SQ8 are options available on the Q8. Here's my question: Which do you think would be better in ski country, mountain highways, but also backroads that may not be quite so well maintained, and most importantly, driving reliably during the winter time in bad snow storms (the best days to go skiing)? And why? He seemed to suggest the SQ8 might be better, but I'm not sure if the technical reasons he gave might also be available in the Q8. I do really like the smooth, quiet of the Q8, but the SQ8 does have its own Comfort mode. I will be doing a lot of long drives in the summer time as well. Going "off roading" is not a priority for me at 59 any longer, though knowing it can go onto dirt roads and such reasonably well to get me to a destination, say a campsite or fishing spot or out of the way Forteener or ski mountain, having some flexibility in that regard would be nice. Oh, and one other question. I can get the loaded Prestige Q8 with the larger sidewall 285/45/21 tires instead of the 285/40/22's if I forgo the purely cosmetic s-line and black optic packages, and I can get the same slightly larger sidewall tire with the Prestige SQ8 that does come with the cosmetic s-line package but not the cosmetic black optics package. Is there a noticeable difference and advantage for my kind of driving referenced above going with the larger sidewall 285/45/21 tires instead of the 285/40/22's, or is it so negligible that I should just go for the extra cosmetics, which do make a great looking car look even better, the black optics especially? Thanks for any input. And again, great reviews.
