Hi Mark, as an owner of the acid gold version for the last six months I was keen to hear your opinion. It seems like your as impressed as I am. I absolutely love it and every trip out never fails to to do all the things a bike should do to our soul. I also took mine to a track day recently and it performed beautifully. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and btw I’m the same height as you and I’ve done rides for 3 or 4 hours and still feel fresh after it. Take care and Merry Xmas. 👍🏍🎄

I'm secretly dreaming of this bike (not that secret really). It's a fantastic looking bike, it's in a great spot size wise, and has enough power to hang with most bikes on the street at relatively sensible speeds. 💖💖👏🏼👏🏼

Great review, Mark. Watched all your reviews on the Honda CB650R/CBR650R/Tuono & RS660. Being a bit late to bikes (Mid 30's), I have my DAS in September after cutting my teeth on my little 2021 Honda CB125R which has been great fun to ride. So bigger bike options were initially limited to the Honda's above as nothing in that CC/Power range really took my fancy. Plus, the inline 4 sound track and flexibility also played a part. But, now I've come across the RS660 which appears to have a similar riding position as the CBR650R looking at your vids, I.e. sporty, but not overly aggressive so remains comfortable over distance (which is one of the things I'm keen to strike a balance on), and just how good the RS sounds and looks, I think my heart is now set on the RS. Even more so as the tech and quickshifter is included as standard. Just means I need to save more money than I would need to in order to buy the Honda ☹.

@@markpulling12 Thanks Mark, I shall definitely test ride both. Especially as the Tuono looks like a similar riding position to what I'm used to at the moment being a naked. The RS does come with more Tech and the quickshifter though, which appeals to me from a safety aspect being new to bigger bikes. So when those features are added to the Tuono it makes it more expensive than the RS. Food for thought nevertheless. Cheers 👍

Gorgeous bike from every angle Mark! And that sound :) I admit I have a bit of a soft spot when it comes to Aprilia, I used to own a '99 (first series) RSV Mille in Black/grey/silver, from new, for 20 years. Never let me down, bomb-proof engine...that thing would cut corners like a razorblade. Still have fond memories of that bike. Anyway, this RS660 looks tasty as hell. If I were in the market for an (additional) bike, I would probably go for this one, in the same colors.

Nice to watch your reviews as always Mark. Not a bike I would really ever consider. Having said this the best all round 600cc sports bike to date has been and arguably still is the Triumph Daytona 675R. I nearly bought one several years ago. I see that Aprilia have now woken up to the need for a fuel gauge rather than just relying on a temperamental fuel light when fuel was low. The rear black and orange front wheels look ............ odd.

I love the look of sports bikes like this. But I feel like it may be a bit too much power for a beginner rider, so I haven't done much research in this category of bike. Hi Harrison ...as a new rider it's always tricky ...if you are sensible with the power and build up slowly you'll be ok ...it's the sports riding position that can be tricky as a new rider the tuono 660 would be a better more upright option ...but you are way better off looking at a2 45 hp bikes as a beginner ...like Honda cb500 f ,mt03 ,z400 etc ...they are very exciting as a first bike then once you've gained your skills after a couple of years get something bigger Good luck mark

Would you swap your ZX6R for one? I like the toys, the looks and comfier bars, but a 100hp parallel twin doesn't really appeal. Most countries the Suzuki is about 1500-2000 more expensive and the 890 is at the same pricepoint. Most places its on a fair pricepoint considering the competition and what you get for the money. But yes the suzuki is well priced but its also dated with a engine that is over 15 years old and well outsprung by all the other naked 1000cc bikes.

I’d consider this as much a sport bike as a Honda cbr500r. It’s a sports tourer dressed up and playing the part. That panel under the pillion seat pad is meant for a top box so this is definitely a good daily option

As someone who owns a CBR500R, this is not even in the same league. I see the RS 660 as a NEW category altogether. It's 80-85% of the way to a supersport, without bars that are too upright and too lame of an upright seating position like my 500 or a Ninja 650 as an example!

  • @Otterplus

@@Blottski my first bike was a 2016 500R and I agree with your assessment. I settled on the 500 as many use that model as their step up or step down forever ride. The Aprilia 660 is a great engine with tons more power making them a more fulfilling choice. If I cared to deal with fairings again I’d consider the RS660 myself but I fear there isn’t enough of a bump from my current SV to make it worth the trouble

@@Otterplus appreciate your reply back. Can you tell the RS 660 is the bike I've (mostly) decided to upgrade to? It's between this bike or saving the cash and getting a used 13+ ZX6R or newer GSXR750. Whatever I get I will be using for the odd long distance trip.

@@Blottski out of those options your back will thank you for choosing the “softer” of the three. The GSXR models are known as the most comfortable super sport but they can’t provide the legal speed fun the parallel 660 could.

All the liveries on these should have had red front and rear wheels and red seats. The black rear wheels look dumb as does the black seat and two red wheels on the acid green ones along with the tank cowl, all should be red, no black ones on the acid green bike. If I ever get one, it will be the acid green colour and I'm changing the seat and tank cowl around the ignition key to the red ones

Beautiful high performance machine. I would love one but here in the states, a spotty dealer network holds back most of the European manufacturers. The nearest Aprilia dealer is four hours away, same for Moto Guzzi. BMW and Triumph? Slightly better. Only two and a half hours.

I hope you all have good luck with your RS660. Many who own this bike have had lots of issues regarding the engine and electronics. My friend is having a terrible time with his bike, engine lights, stalling, not starting, dealing with the dealership and now excessive vibration ..... His is now looking for a lemon law lawyer. Terrible that Aprilia would release a bike with so many issues, never see a Japanese bike released with the issues I've seen with my friend and heard in the Twins cup races.
