Why I Chose The Aprilia RS 660

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Why I Chose The Aprilia RS 660 (SK XIII)
There are so many bikes out there that you could buy, especially once you leave the 300CC category. With so many awesome new options to choose from, it was difficult to make a decision. Here is my perspective on why I chose the Aprilia RS 660 as my second motorcycle after riding my 300CC bike for a little over a year. Often times we can find ourselves in an analysis paralysis situation when trying to make a decision. Hopefully sharing my perspective on my decision will help someone with theirs. Drop a like and comment down below any questions y'all have for the youtube algorithmzzz 😉

Lovely bike, especially in those colours. Throwback to '95 when Aprilia launched the RS250. That was hugely popular here in the UK and much sought after. Emissions regulations saw the end of it unfortunately with it being a 2 stroke. Ride safe

The ‘rider aids’ on the Rs660 are so good BECAUSE they don’t interfere with normal riding (if you set them appropriately)… they are just there to help save you, if you potentially make a mistake at an inopportune time… it makes pushing on this thing so much more fun

I know people buying their second ever motorcycle usually don't buy another similar CC bike like I might do. I grew up riding starting with an 80cc at age 12 and up to my last 500cc, - a KX500 dirtbike until about two years ago at age 42 when I sold it. My first motorcycle is a like new condition, 2008 Suzuki GSX650F - (656cc Inline-4) that had 28k miles when I bought it. It's a heavy bike for this class at 531 pounds wet. Over a year & just over 5,500+ miles later, I've had no problems with the bike or it's weight. It has a decent 85 HP & 45 LB-FT @ the crank with an aggressively geared 6-speed manual transmission. Bone stock & at 60 mph in 6th gear, it's at 5,300 rpm's! It has a 12,500 rpm redline with an approx. 12,800 rpm rev limiter. Anyway, I know the Aprilia RS660 has about 15 more HP & about 5 more LB-FT of torque vs. my bike... But the big difference is the approximately 130 pounds less weight, and that extra power. That weight advantage for the RS660 is huge on a motorcycle. Despite the weight, my GSX650F was tested and still did 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. It ran 11.94 @ 110.1 mph through the 1/4 mile. It has a governed top speed of 135 mph. Lastly, it did 0-100 mph in a respectable 8.97 seconds. The RS660 is definitely faster, as it should be... It did 0-60 in 3.27 seconds & ran the 1/4 mile in 11.29 @ 124 mph. It has a 145 mph Top Speed. I honestly think it would be a nice second bike for me... I really don't need a 9 or 10 second bike on the street. Low 11's is a nice gain of acceleration vs. the high 11's my bike runs. Oh wow, sorry for the super long comment. I'll subscribe after this comment. Safe travels man! Nice RS660! That's the color I want 😎👍

Excellent video, I too would have chosen the aprilia from the list of bikes you mention. I may have also considered the Triumph Street triple rs, but the exclusivity of the aprilia is a definite bonus as is the superb exhaust note. It’s great to see that you’re enjoying the extra power, the quick shifter must be a joy to use. You certainly have some excellent roads. Here in Britain, it’s far more more congested and there are many speed detecting cameras to be aware of. I look forward to seeing more “aprilia action”, best wishes.

I agree with Aprilia being way less common, it's nice to see them for sure. My buddy back east before I moved had an RS 660 for his first bike, I personally only liked the sound (and the seat). The seat was really comfy compared to my R6. I didn't like more upright seating posture nor the shake from it being 2 stroke. He ended up trading it in for another Aprilia 1100 factory. After riding both of those, the 1100 felt WAYY better - just still a lot different from my R6.

Although my bike is not an RS 660, I do feel the same pros and cons of owning a out of the norm brand. I currently own A husqvarna svartpilen 701, and I rarely see any one riding this motorcycle in the area. It is my first bike and I am now shopping for a new bike. The one that I am eyeing is the tuono v4. Maybe I watched too many videos of that motorcycle that your video ended up in my recommendation. P.S I also work at health care and a huge tech guy. if you are concerned about quick shifters up and down you need to go to the basics of motorcycling first thing. Second you said aprilia is value for money ? Biggest joke over heard in a while but w/e makes you sleep at night better. 3rd Unreliable - that why you do not see them on rods that much besides being overpriced. 4th Stop flexing that you bought aprilia - if you flex that you have a rare bike on road " look at me guys" stop riding because you trying to flex. If you need lean sensitive IMU again go back to basic and please for God sake never say that again if you need lean sensitive IMU on streets - you are going TOO fast... but looking at you light pull acceleration - you afraid of the bike you speed on street after you barely took off from light. But you do you man... You are looking for a comfortable supersport or sport bike - biggest bs I've heard again you do you man... slightly more expensive than R7 hahahah it's almost 2.5 k more than R7 and almost 3 k more than Ninja 650 ..... lol again stop lying to yourself
