Volvo has never been this good before the Chinese taking ownership and yes XC40 is now manufactured in China as well #MadeInChina2025 🇨🇳

@@jackyong815 that’s only for the Chinese Market. For the US Market, the XC40 will still be made in Belgium.

Thanks for the great review! I just ordered one of these, coming from a 2016 V60. I drove an XC40 as a loaner and loved it. Drives great. As with most new turbo motors, I've discovered you have to be pretty light on the pedal to achieve EPA fuel estimates. I normally drive 75-80 on the highway and was only averaging 24.5 MPG. My V60 with the 5 cylinder is rated at 28 mpg highway. If I slow down to 65-70, then I can get better mileage and was averaging just over 28 mpg. This is something new I learned. I was always puzzled as to why I never got better fuel economy with turbos. LOL.

Thanks for the video. We just bought an XC40. On the main screen, can I choose the four things it shows you when you turn the car on? It seems to me that it remembers my last two choices and displays them when I turn the car on. However, the Location (top) and Performance (bottom) always stay on the screen. I would like to set four main screen defaults. For example, I would like to set Phone, Bluetooth, Sirius, and FM to always appear when I start the car. Is there a way I can set this, please?

I completely agree about the cruise control and lane keeping assist. I did a 24 hour test drive of the xc60 and thought maybe something was wrong with that particular car. Today I'm doing another 24 hour test drive of the xc40 and i'm having the same issue. We're paying premium for extra features that don't work that well. That said, the dynamic mode on these cars is my favorite thing.

The autopilot thing, In my dream car, the fully electric XC40 they have the abilty to update systems trough wifi, I belive that they will launch updates to there Pilot assist and other systems as they develop the system

Another negative I found is that you dont have the gauge that shows how warm or cold the car is. Also, you cant see the exact psi on your tires.

I did a previous 24 hour test drive of the xc60 and today I'm doing a test drive of the xc40 and I'm not loving these features. I had the same experience as what Mike is describing.

You can switch between pilot asist and just adaptive cruise control....you dont have to drive with only pilot assist

Water bottle goes in the cup holder in the center console

How do you feel about the steering? Thinking of buying. Test drove. Steering feels very loose compared to my older bmw.

The steering is tight. It is just real easy to turn the wheel since it is electric instead of hydraulic.

Yes it is a 4 cylinder, but it’s around 4,000 pounds. It’s hard to overcome that weight. The mileage on this is rated at 23/33, the mileage on the Volkswagen Arteon is 22/31. What was your real world mileage ?

David Derfus I have the CX40 R design and my gas mileage is 22.1. I use eco mode as well as the sporty mode about equally. And I drive a bit zoomy after the light turns green, so I think if I tried just using eco mode a full week, my mileage would be better.

It is also greatly influenced on tyre presure, size, driving against lots of wind or with the wind and the additional weight lugging along in the ride. ( spare tire, driver weight ) So many variables that has an effect when done on longer distance

@@OooohReally Right. Like pulling 5000 pounds on a flatbed Treylor, as opposed to pulling it in a van style trailer. That lack of aerodynamics, makes a huge difference.

2:02 Anyone knows whether Volvo fixed these issues about the AutoPilot Assist in the new ones or not? Mine will arrive in October, 2020 I hope that they did something to those issues.

Hi , how is your pilot assist ? It seems to work great on two of our friends as longer as used on relatively straight highways with solid lane markers as it’s not designed to be used otherwise and perhaps this reviewer was trying to use it on.normal roads . Anyway how do you like yours ? Thanks.

@@hushdrops Well I tried it even in the crowdy roads of Istanbul it worked amazingly great. I tried it only once in a two-way road and had no big issue but it is really confusing to do that even if you trust the system. Anyways I have some points for new users: 1. The car does turn even with angles more than 30 degrees but this depends on your speed (the faster the harder to turn). 2. In the city (especially when going slowly) it does not recognize other vehicles in the proper time when they turn to your lane and get in front of you. I had to slow down the car by myself. 3. The system quits working whenever you press the brake pedal. This is so confusing so you need to check the green wheel to be sure that the PilotAssist is still working as you may unwillingly press the brake pedal while driving. (The green wheel on the screen is surely not enough as an indicator, there must be some green led indicator somewhere around the windscreen so you will not have to look down).

3:12 Vovlo is Swedish, Ikea is Swedish, Sweden is usage of the creative part of your mind. Sooooooooooooo here's a solution. Buy a roll of velcro, cut a strip and you can make velco braces for your bottles to stick upright in there. The recycled plastic mateial used in the doors bellow are perfect for velcro. Hahaha :D gonna do that once my car gets delivered

The display on screen from Apple CarPlay is very small and it’s imposible to put on full screen. It’s a big big dislike!!!

The lane assist is optional right??

Lane assist is standard. Pilot assist is not.

It's hard to really evaluate the Harman Kardon sistem. Mine works nice but I have no idea about the normal sound sistem. I think if the sound insulation of the car is good enough you can can get nice music sound even from your phone :)

That drive assist sounds like a nightmare what a deal breaker !

Yes you can turn lane keep assist off. It works ok. It is the 'Pilot Assist' feature that I didn't like.... and yes you can turn that off too.

Bottle in the door? never do that. so the point varies from users to users (I put paper etc instead and a holder would be annoying for me). The phone hard to get? Well then that is good, since just holding it while driving it is considered a crime. So less incentive ;) (well I usually just put the flight mode on though while driving). The rooftop can be an issue. Thanks for the review.

Yeah I have not been impressed this the lane keeping aid. Gauges cluster and infotainment are great. The ambient lighting sucks. The gas mileage is decent because they use an 8 speed and it is geared and torqued for acceleration and Peppiness. Gaxamd brake pedal are too close to each other and the gas is too close to the center tunnel, and the center tunnel is so big.

The console reminds me of something Buick might design.

all options on the screen not good , not practical as if screen was broken , u will lose car

I think you dont really understand what pilot assist does , its works brilliant. This review is full of stupid comments

@@MikesCarInfo It's like you state : you're not a big fan; Must also be the area that you live in that gives you the trouble. I use it all the time and it's just perfect on highways. As Volvo clearly states that it needs clear lines , i don't think it's that hard to make sure there are before you use it.

@@bartdereu The driving footage shows everything. Did it look like the lines were not clear when it swerved towards other cars? I have driven many cars even other Volvos that did not do that. Could it possibly be that this particular car may have an issue?.... or as you concluded from the start that I am just stupid?

Ummm No. I tried 2 of these cars and I completely agree with him! I also tried it on different roads , including highways.
