Love mine my 4th

I have a lifted 2015 Tundra 1794. Zero problems, the truck still runs like it's brand new. Interior leather is still in great condition despite hauling a 90lbs chocolate lab on a regular basis. My gas mileage is around 11mpg in the city and a little over 12 mpg on the highway but that is due to the lift kit and the large tires that I run (35x12.50R20). This was my first Toyota product and it has been great.

I have a 2018 1794 edition tundra and love it. This is my second one the first was a 2006 and never had any problems with it and it’s 12 years of service with me at nearly 100,000 miles. Great trucks then and now.

Had an 07 for 13 years and 250k miles. Only replaced the starter. Bought a 2020 it now has 35k miles. No problems so far. Going for 300k miles this time.

@@chrisdrives8204 change oil every 5000 and had the transmission and 4x4 changed twice basically every 100k miles. The powertrain was still running strong when I sold it and I still see it driving around town by the new owner now and then to this day.

@@chrisdrives8204 the local dealership that I’ve bought my Tundras from said they have 1 tundra with over 500k miles and one with like 650k miles they do routine maintenance on. The sales manager is a friend and tells people if they want a long term truck get a Tundra. They sell Toyota and Chevrolet. Now the new redesigned 2022 Tundra??? I’m not convinced on that truck being up to par for what I expect from a Tundra…

We have 238k miles on our 2010 and have had zero issues....We tow, beat it up and it has been awesome....so we purchased another one.....

i have a 2021 tundra, with a mild lift just enough to fit 35x12.50R18 no problem. i did do a body mount chop though. almost 30k miles, yes i drive a lot long distance. love it's simplicity and robust components. tried and true technology without the unnecesary electronics that tend to break a lot. im keeping her for at least 10 years

I have a 2021 Xp and I love it, hands down. I rather fill the gas tank up then being in the repair shop, like one responder said. It’s my weekend vehicle and my retirement truck so it’s going to be with me a long time. I love ❤️ my Toyota tundra!

I'd love to get a Tundra, but only up through the 2021 model year. Toyota screwed themselves over by jumping in with the twin turbo V6 over a V8. But who am I kidding? I can't afford these trucks anyway. So, I'll stick with my 2013 RX 350, and 2011 Venza V6.

I bought one of the last 2021 made delivery Nov 2021 and the spent six hours installing a external transmission cooler kit that was $980 dollars. Since it is my tow vehicle I think it was money well spent for long time protection of the transmission. I change my oil at the 1000 mile mark and then every 3000 miles. I only use the Best oil Penzoil ULTRA platinum Since I am retired this might be the last truck I purchase..I do also have a Nissan Frontier 2017 daily driver and A 1993 Chevy 3500 two wheel drive Silverado that I maintain and sits in the garage lake house to put the boat and and take the boat out or go to Home Depot. The fun thing about the Silverado is when the grand children go for a ride they are amazed on how the window goes down (turn a handle) and explain what a cassette player is. While the tundra is a beast and pure luxury that old 1993 is not as high up and easier to get in with along bench seat and attracts attention

I’m a Chevy/GMC fan since my father passed it on to me. But I’ve always wanted a Toyota for its longevity. And the 2018-2020 Tundras have the reputation for being more reliable. And the newer Tundras are more luxurious but I’ll definitely get my hands on one of these someday.

I have a 2021 Platinum Tundra and have An ongoing air-conditioning problem. My local dealer replaced the "Heater Actuator" stating that was the issue. 2 months later same issue and they didn't re install 7 screws after reinstalling my dashboard!!! Set up another appointment and hopefully they're competent enough to put all my screws back where they go and fix the issue. My first 2016 SR5 CM never had any issues! The Toyota dealers near me have severely gone down hill 🤬🤬🤬

That's annoying

I had a knocking sound you mentioned. Others have also noticed it based on KZread videos. Consistent with others’ findings, my dealer localized it to the skid plate. They place felt pads on the bolt and the sound is now gone.

Hi, I just came across your comment. The skid plates you mentioned, how did they put felt pads on the bolts? Is that something I can do at home or should the dealer do it? I made a comment about this because I am also experiencing that "clunking noise" on the front end of my Tundra when I turn the steering wheel.

I have had one since march of 20. I love it. It just takes too much gas. nine when pulling a camper, 13 by itself. I have only put about ten K miles. on it. I agree with your video

I’ve had my 2021 Tundra for less than two years and have over 44,000 miles on it. It has been completely free of any failures, recalls or issues! I also own a 2020 4Runner with over 34,000 carefree miles! The new Tundra is a complete and total disappointment; fit and finish issues, turbo troubles, axels coming loose, rattles and wind leaks, etc., etc.! In less than a year the Toyota Tundra has gone from the most reliable full-size pickup ever made to being the most troublesome new generation introduction! Also, I seriously doubt the new Tundra has more low end torque considering it needs RPMs to engage the turbos and has gone from having a class leading 4:30 rearend to a 3:30 for highway driving! There is a real reason why I have had offers to sell my Tundra for more than I paid for it even with over 44,000 miles! There is a very real reason why used Tundras sell faster than any other used truck!

I agree..I love my 2020 and would never trade for the new 2022 TT v6.

I bought my 19’ Tundra brand new. I have had Zero problems. I had my own remote start installed no problems (I’m not playing the Toyota game with a subscription) oil change every 5K, this truck will probably out-live me!. I’m keeping it till the wheels fall off.

My 2013 has 233k and is in excellent condition! Drives like new! Holds value amazingly well! Cost about $150 a month for the time I’ve driven it.

@@chrisdrives8204 I actually drove a used Ford 1986 truck from 1994-1997 for $200 total. Trucks always sells!

Mine is now 12.5 years old. Zero repairs and runs like new. Brakes, windshield wipers, oil changes/driveshaft lube were all I did until last month when I changed all fluid. I would assume 2022 is the same though.

the steering knock is common in Tacoma's and tundras. its the joint in the intermediate steering shaft under the dash. you can have the bushing replaced or do what i did and just run a thin zip tie through the middle of the joint in the shaft to take up the extra space. if theres a lot of slack it may need two. or if it doesn't bother you just ignore it as its not going to come apart.

I love my 2020 SR5 crew cab with steel wheels with 30K miles. I added running boards and aluminum ladder racks over the bed. I had a broken door stop repaired under warranty. I tow 3500# Airstream Bambi around Pennsylvania, which doesn't seem to have much effect on the gas mileage. I am due for new tires and 30K service.

Do you have a transmission cooler?

I have a 2020 TRD OR and only issues has been a bad battery at 6 months...one bad tire from Michelin and recently my windshield cracked for no reason. All items replaced under warranty. I chose to buy extended warranty. Great truck overall. Best fuel economy on a long trip was 12.4 L/100 kms. Not terrible at all.

Interesting about your bad battery. I just checked the fluid in my 2021 Crewmax and had a to add one pint of distilled water. It seems some had leaked out through the caps. I have taken it off road a few times in the past few months with steep grades which may have caused this.

I had an 07 Limited Double Cab traded at 175k miles for a 14 crew Platinum. I put a starter on the 07 at 160k. I have 102k on my 14 Platinum and have not replaced anything except 1 Lock Actuator I will say the 14 and up Tundras seem to be too soft on turns so I added the TRD sway bars front and back and that solves the problem! If you want a truck that never really breaks or spends time at a repair shop or dealer get a Tundra.

I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra 4&4 SR5 with 243000 I ❤ it I get 19 city 21 highway it has wide turning radius

Toyotas are built to last. The big 3 American brands had caught up to Toyota and kept up for a little while, but they have lagged behind since the pandemic. Quality control issues plague all 3 currently. Hopefully they can get this fixed.

I’m about to buy a used 2020 Tundra Limited. There is a hidden feature with the smart FIB that allows remote start. On the fob press lock three times then hold it down. It will shut off when you open the door. As far as I know it's free. Can also disable fob from transmitting, so no one can steal rf code. press & hold lock, press unlock twice. To reactivate press any button.

How about include the 5 open bulletins they have on this year and yes one is the steering leaking sounds to be like bad bushing or a bad steering rake pretensioner

2021 sr5 here. 33 12.5 20 wheels , 12” jbl woofer 5 caption speaker replacement and caption amp, 3” levelling kit, toneu cover, aftermarket exhaust, aftermarket step rails, interior LED LIGHTS, driver side hand pillar, LED tail lights. oh and rear seat storage had to cut out a template. love my tundy. 60000kms…bought new off the lot. 🇨🇦

I have a 2020 and have had no issues without the cooler. I was highly disappointed when I found this out as my sticker said it did… sticker said it did. My brother is a transmission specialist and said new fluids are made to run at higher temps for longer intervals. They are however not made to run at extreme temperatures for long periods of time. Therefore, it is highly suggested that you change your transmission fluid at shorter intervals. I plan to do it at 40k.

My 2019 has 50k miles and I tow a lot! Not one issue

@@chrisdrives8204 I have a 3500 pound trailer that I tow my 72 Chevy blazer that is on 37s and weighs around 5500 pounds give or take. I also tow a 6x10 dump trailer almost every day

only problem I ha with mine is the radio. It would go out every now and then and all Id do is restart the truck. I wouldn't buy anything else.

My 2020 4x4 Tundra experience at 20k miles: Overall, great truck, happy with it. Great reliability, of course. The ugly: averages 12-14mpg around town, and averages a suckfest 7.5 mpg when towing a 6500lb camper. Biggest annoyance is the sun glare at mid-day, off the concave section of the hood near the windshield, and sun glare off the silver air vents and shifter. Sometimes absolutely blinding.

@@kevinowens1732 Hey, I appreciate the tip for the vents & shifter - I'll check them out. I also saw someone post his solution to the concave hood glare, where he got some of that 3M black matte plastic/sticker stuff and cut it to form fit. Looked good and did the trick. I might try it.

The remote-start feature shutting off when you open the door is a legal thing. It's a security feature to prevent the vehicle being stolen and is required by regulations.

My 2021 city driving is 14.5-15 mpg and highway is 17-18 mpg. I have a TRD Pro Double cab so its a few hundreds pounds lighter than a crew cab. I agree with your review and love my truck. I have 31,000 miles already since I do quite a bit of driving for work. Just last week had to do a 2,200'ish road trip for work and it was a joy to drive across country, especially because of the 38 gallon fuel tank that allows me to go 6-7 hours straight at 600 miles a tank with no stops.

Does the TRD have more power than a regular Tundra?

Iv had my 2020 3 years 90k miles towing a race trailer ( 24 foot enclosed) almost every weekend - not had one issue....

The app is not needed for remote start, as long as you are within range of the vehicle. Push the lock button on the key fob 3 times in a row, holding on the 3rd push until the truck beeps and it will start remotely.

@@chrisdrives8204 I went out and double-checked because it has been a long time since I used this feature. It only hit the actuator for the locks once on the initial button press. Also, the truck doesn’t beep when you push and hold on the third button press, the lights flash a few times and that’s when you can tell it is about to start. Give it a try.

My TRD 17 still has under 40k miles. ☺

I love my Tundra 27 to.30 MPG

I own a 2020 tundra, bought used with 40,000km. The power windows seem very slow going up and down especially when the temp is cold. Anyone have this issue or is it normal?

I currently have a 2021 Crewmax TRD off road Tundra. It’s my second one, my previous being a 2010 Crewmax which was bulletproof for 110k miles except for the faulty (forget the exact name) warranties item in the exhaust system that rusted and was fixed at no charge. I considered the 2022 model but with a dual turbo v6, I said no way. My goal is long term ownership of this truck and there’s too much to potentially go wrong after any warranty runs out on the 2022. The old platform is tried and true overall and as much as I’d love all the new tech in the 2022, I can live without it and would rather have old school reliability. I have put a 2” spacer lift/level kit in the front for added clearance and BFG KO2AT’s on it for light off roading. This truck does extremely well on moderate trails with the stock Bilstein shocks. I’ve owned a lot of trucks over the years and this platform is my favorite.

That's so weird...I have a 2020 Tundra SR5 (Voodoo Blue). I am the original owner and take very good care of it. After 3 years of ownership, I am having the exact same suspension issues you mentioned in the video. I mean you explained the exact same problem I am experiencing; a "clunking" noise towards the front end every time I drive slowly through a parking lot, or turn the steering wheel at low speeds...like pulling into a driveway or going over a speed bump. I have taken it to the Toyota service center 3 times and they can't figure it out. I even had private mechanics look at it: no diagnosis of the problem. It is really annoying. However, I have had zero problems with this Tundra other than that and still love my truck. What could this clunking be coming from?

People in this thread said it was the skid plate, the dealer put felt washers on the bolts and the steering noise disappeared.

I don't want all the cameras and bells and whistles, that's why I'm going out west to buy a clean 2007-2010, hopefully very soon. I'm not at all concerned about buying something with 200K on it. I've done my homework and know what problems to look for.

I'm looking to buy a used 20 or 21 tundra. All the carfaxs show all of them in For tire rotations, balancing, tire replacement (in some cases one tire at a time, but several times) and several testing for drivability/performance check, and multiple alignments very close in mileage. Clearly something is going on. Anyone have any info? Thank you

Funny story. Just (11/17/23) bought a 2020 limited, 106k miles. After the test drive, turned it off, tried to restart, battery dead. Terminals were corroded, sure that had something to do with it, but dealer checked it out, battery dead, replaced with new.

One weird observation on all the Gen of Tundras is that the body almost never develop rust!! Given the rusty reputation of Toyota products, all the Tundras I’ve seen, I mean ALL, even if the beds are falling apart etc, there’s ZERO body rust! Frame develops rust but not the body

Three years evaluation may be useful to some, but I'd much rather see a 6 or 10 year eval. My 2004 Silverado runs fine at 203,000. Like to know how the Tunrda is doing at that point.

The truck shutting off when you open the door after remote starting has nothing to do with the app. It is Toyota's security feature.

Burnt oil, twin panel moon roof made all kinds of noises and paint issues. Doors wouldn’t shut properly. Had every option available, was worried about reliability, Especially the power running boards and sun roof. I Liked the gauge cluster

I do daily in my 2017 4x4 5.7 TRD. Light foot and cruise on freeway at around 70 nets me 22-23mpg. I also have a S&B intake and a bullydog tuner though.

City miles are much harder on any vehicle.

Toyota destroyed a great truck with the 2022. I own a 2014 Tundra Limited and it is bulletproof. I won't buy a new Tundra unless they have a V8 option and change that ugly body style.

A friend of mine owns this one. He keeps it in good condition.

Jbl system sucks real bad. Really no storage inside other than the center console. 38 gallon tank reads empty when it's got 8gallons left. Remote start shutting off is dumb. TRD skid plate creaks out of control until you put flex seal tape on it. Rigid fog lights rattle bad until you zip tie them. No heated steering wheels. No Trans cooler. No LSD (a trac sucks) or options for factory lockers. Can't lock the car with it running? Annoying AF beeps. No bed lighting. No inverter. No bed steps or anything to help you get in and out. Also weird the passenger side tires stick out farther than the driver side tires? Weird. All fixable/addressable things but cost $. Unless you're buying an SR5 and modding yourself? Eh. There's better options. What's really irritating is that tacomas literally have all of those things/features and they are as reliable as you'd expect toyota quality to be. Makes me wonder if the entire truck being designed in Texas is actually a good idea or not. Maybe it should be designed in Japan and just assembled and sourced there... maybe get a better product.

I farm and have owned 4 tundras, an 05, 07 and two 2010’s. All were 4x4. I switched to Ford in 2011 and they have proven to be much better pickups.

@@chrisdrives8204 the fords are build heavier, they ride better and they’ve just generally given better service. There’s a reason Toyota hasn’t been able to significantly dent the full size pickup market. I think the tundra is fine if you don’t really need a pickup. It falls short if you do.

@@stever5359 I don’t understand your comment at all. And I used to be a Chevrolet guy and I don’t mind Fords. After having a couple tundras last year and I flipped them and made some money but overall what I noticed I think it’s the best truck out there. The worst part is the gas mileage but right now it’s tough for everybody. Reliability and resale everybody everybody knows it’s Toyota!!

That funny. My son is a tech at a Toyota dealership. They had some problems with some of their frames rusting. Toyota put a brand new frame on a truck with 420000 miles. Yes 420000. If you go a day past warranty with ford Chrysler or dodge. Your on your own.
