Is the STI still a relevant driver's car or are we due for a massive change? Also I was wrong about steering. Only the WRX got the electronic assist. Huge thanks to Patreon supporters for making this content possible

I believe we’re due for a massive change. As much as I like the exterior and interior, the powertrain is very outdated. The EJ25 at this point is like.. 20 years old? Maybe for the next gen they use the FA24 from the Ascent. Anyways, how’s your day going?

5:48 is extremely accurate - by the time you get to the speed limit, or even slightly beyond, it's all over and now you're back to cruising at speeds that won't attract law enforcement. And you didn't even use more than a fraction of what is available to you. At least in cars like the Civic type-R (or the STI), you can enjoy the run from 0 - whatever because the driving experience (and the manual transmission) engages you every step of the way.

After several years I missed the stock sound to be honest. I wish my 2019 had been available in hatchback form factor. Been driving Subarus since 2005 because I love how honest they feel. I personally own the 2020 version of this car and I legitimately almost never put it in sports sharp mode. This car has realistic power and I think the AWD system and handling of the car makes up for the speed. Also this is a great car to have if you live in snowy areas and you still want a fast dependable car. Although, if you do buy this car try to get a set of smaller tires. In my experience the only times I get stuck is when the snow gets packed inside the wheel wells.

I also think the 2.0 with the smaller, twin scroll turbo in the WRX is better for regular driving than the 2.5 in the STi. Basically I’m saying if you can find one in good condition used, it would be a great option for a lot of upstart car enthusiasts.
