I personally love the figuarts line (aside from the fact they are reluctant to release new designs and characters - starlights and eternal sailor moon please!) I have all the original inners and outers and love their articulation and therefore flexibility of being able to pose and display them in many different ways! The pieces are fiddly and I get nervous when I swap their hands but overall if you enjoy articulated products I can recommend. I have the new recolours on the way and am looking forward to the seemingly improved paint job and skin tones!

I remember when I found that Sailor Moon SH Figuart at Barnes and Noble a few yrs. ago in the clearance and surprised when it was $14.95 or $14.98. Good thing I bought that along with some Tokidoki Moofia Series 2 blind boxes, which were also on clearance. I also have Sailor Chibi Moon, Mars, and Venus, which I bought at Hastings, before the store went bankrupt.

Thank you so much for making this! I wasn’t intending on getting any of the new ones but I was really curious about the differences!

i’ve noticed mercury and jupiter look the most different (colour wise) to the original release. and i believe they also improved sailor mars neck.

Tightening the screws on the stands can make all the difference. I figured that out after buying cheap replacements on amazon as they started to collapse on my figures out of nowhere. Didn't occur to me until after they came in that they could just be tightened with a screw driver to become more solid again. No getting around the weak parts that actually grip the figures though, unfortunately.

a little of clear nail polish can make tighter the joints without screws

Great review! Love your videos! One thing I found that helps if the peg for the hands breaks, Aleene’s instant tacky. It’s white so it blends into the gloves and it is removable so you can still change the hands.

I definitely enjoyed seeing this! Jupiter is my favorite Sailor Scout personally, and I just ordered the anime color one yesterday. I didn't have the money for the older releases, but am excited to finally get Jupiter. It's fun to see a channel dedicated to Sailor Moon!

What baffles me the most about these recent releases is the Sailor Jupiter figure. You see, in the anime her skirt, cape, boots and sleeve trims are very dark green, close to black, and her hair is a redish brown, which were nicely portrayed in the first release of Figuarts Jupiter. However, in the "Animation Color" edition her fuku is a brigher green and her hair is a non redish brown, so the version of this figure that is supposed to be more accurate to the anime is LESS accurate than the original release! 💀

It’s both annoying AND frustrating

I can definitely relate... I've even had the peg on the stand (on a few) that grips the character break. Owning a few myself... all 10 Sailor Senshi, Super Moon, Sailor V, and Tuxedo Kamen. Lol. Although the new boxes are really nice looking, I will probably end up skipping them.

Huh, not to brag, but I guess I got ridiculously lucky with the ones I've bought over the last three years! The skin color on my og figures look healthy, the stands have held up great, haven't deteriorated, and my figures still pose without any issues. I haven't broken off any hand joints either! I bought the new Moon and Jupiter since they're the only two inners I was missing and og Jupiter is so freaking expensive, so I jumped on this release. I haven't taken them out of their boxes yet since I haven't had time to pose them, but I'm sad that Moon has less accessories T.T I might try to find the original Sailor Moon recolor, just to get the extra stuff... I'm hoping they'll release Saturn soon because she's even more expensive and she's the only one I'm missing! Might need a new Tuxedo Mask since his head refuses to come off, so he's permanently stuck with his hat and glasses. They're up high on the shelf over my bed, so I figured having matte and metallic colors wouldn't be too obvious from up there, but I didn't think of the skin tones. Still, They don't looks as drastically different when I put them next to each other though the boxes, so I'll see! Anyways, as always, thank you for doing this review!!

I have the original release Sailor Moon and I could NEVER let her out of the box. I wanted to, but her hair doesn't fit well (one of the sides just falls off), the stand doesn't keep her in place and I'm so afraid to break her hands when I try to take them out. At least the box looks pretty on my shelf...

Hey Sailor Tortilla, I have a question! Are the skirts on the animation color figures colored molded plastic or are they painted? Asking because my Sailor Jupiter fell off the shelf and she's got a white marking on her skirt. Her hand was close to her hip before she fell, so I am wondering if its paint rub off or worse... paint chipping. The plastic on the skirt doesn’t show breakage though.

I honestly love the hair color and skin tone on the 2020 release to justify the purchase for myself... unless I wanna break my back for the others, I'm not sure haha. If I decide to get it, I'll definitely be using that discount!

Are the figures sensitive ? I have a sailor moon and sailor mars figure as soon as I moved sailor moons arm around a bit it snapped off and it’s hard to move it without the arm falling off. I open my sailor mars figure moved her leg a bit and snapped off as well and now it’s hard to position her since the leg doesn’t want to stay in place 😭

I have had every single one of them, shfiguarts are fragile at best, I sold the first issues because these reissues fixed the broken joints that plagued the first issues by using different molding that don’t make them cracked when left posing, the colors are more vivid but at least the stands are all universal. I actually managed to get come out on top with the first issue by not paying anything for the reissues at all so no complaints at all lol

I am still trying to complete my SH figure art set do you think that I should get the older ones that I don't have or get the newer ones. I have Sailor Moon,Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Venus, and Super Sailor Moon of the first release.

I do love the way these figures look, but it's true, the joints are just sad, I have a Super Sailor Moon figure, and her elbow joints are *so* loose! One of her forearms actually popped off and I was unable to attach it back, so I much left her inside her box with a dettached forearm

Are these the only options out there for a posable sailor moon figure? I want to get one, but wasn't sure which would be the best.

I wish I could get my hands on a 2014 animation color edition sailor moon! That one has the best colors in my opinion

I wish the Dragon ball line were this cheap, they release around 18figs per year each one cost around 80usd and if you didn't pre-order a month later will be in the Market for double the price, by the way if you have to choose between the first Sailor moon for 33usd and the new one for 45usd which one would you get?

The heart-eyes face comes with Sailor Uranus :)

I was lucky enough to find the original release of Sailors moon, mercury, jupiter, Uranus, neptune, as well as black Lady and tuxedo mask for $25 each (with exception to neptune which was $50) at my local half price

What made me feel totally off with the new shf Sailor Moon is that it comes with way less accessories while the other re-released sailor senshis have their complete accessories just like their counterpart og figures. To add, Tamashii Nations marketed the 1st edition shf sailor moon with exclusive 2 faces (winking and crying face) then later on throw the crying face as one of the less face plates of the new shf sailor moon which totally defeats the exclusivity of the first release! Indeed the colors of the new one is definitely healthy in terms of the skin tone but again Tamashii Nations seems to endlessly fail to get the accurate redness of her bows and boots and the right yellow tone of her hair which is very dull and frustrating.

The stand that's loose, isn't it just a matter of tightening the screws? BTW only now i found these dolls, i want one so much but i can't find any other website that sells Sailor Moon, the one you recommended is sold out :'( Do you have any other stores in mind that could sell her?

Tamashii Nations has a new special edition out now with fewer accessories. I’m not sure about web, but their store in NYC apparently had some recently if you’re in the area. I’d call and ask if they ship.

The last SH Figuarts I cared enough to buy were Uranus and Neptune, but just because these were my first ever Sailor Moon figures. Hopefully they do release that Eternal Sailor Moon and Starlights or else I'm not wasting any more money on those.

Maybe its just the lighting but did you notice on the new moon and mercury the hip roll kinda looked blue.

Figma are better than SH Figuarts in poses and movement for sure- but they still fall apart at times and it can be frustrating since they cost even more. The best articulated figures I’ve seen are the Variable Action and Legend Studios ones. Def worth exploring more brands so do your research :)

Love watching your videos!! I have the first Sailor Moon box but no gold sticker, I never took her out of the box only because I have no space to display her. Is the new Sailor Uranus going to come with the heart eye Moon face? I never could understand why Uranus came with the ex Moon face, Tuxedo Mask should have come with the heart eye Moon face.

Honestly I own all of the SHF sm figures. If your just gonna pose them and leave them on a shelf there not that bad. Deterioration is a big issue though and it’s so annoying on top of their tendency to break sense there so fragile. Unless they release eternal I’ll pass on a lot of the new releases..

Well this is a very insightful video, I'm glad I got mine for about $33 but now that I know that these other version exist . now I have a new dilemma curse you Bandai and your repaints!

@@SailorTortilla It really does drive me wild, and because finding pegs to purchase is near impossible, I'm now relying on a cut out tooth pick to fill the gap, though I'm considering on purchasing knockoff sh figuarts of the scouts mainly for parts. Why did they have to make such bare minimum pegs that would just literally break over any movement is beyond me.

looks like the more recent the sailormoon figure is, the lesser the accesories included.

What about the crystal one?

I think the new boxes are pretty......that's all I can say about it.....May get that mercury one... 5:37 I think its the opposite I think the new one has more of an orangy school bus color lol I'm okay with paying 50 because they are articulate and come with a bunch of accessories so with all that detail I think it makes up for it. Just having them pose in funny ways and doing stop motion with them is also satisfying I mean sure it can sometimes take a bit but I never spent too long on it myself....ALTHOUGH I do find it frustrating that figma has gone a little crazy with their price increases i just preordered a sakura miku figma that was over 100 dollars and she has less accessories than the nendoroids WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF!?!??! TAT You seem to be harsh on the action figure type figures or is that just me? That makes me curious about if you have a figure you own that you would consider flawless or like the best one you have that you don't really see any problems with. Have you done a video like that before? I would be interested in seeing that. I'd totally buy your 2014 anime color one if you do sell it lol Oh speaking of the joints, I noticed the first release of the metalic paint one seems to have slightly different joints on the hands than the 2nd release of that one its weeird I was switching parts out on them when I noticed I couldn't switch the hands on them.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I do agree that these would be great for stop-motion animators, my husband mentions this a lot, but I even personally dislike the (higher quality) Figmas. They fall apart in similar and annoying ways. Articulated figures are just not my thing. One figure that I do think is immaculate is the Sakura Kinomoto ArtFX J Figure. The review for her is in my "non-sailor moon" playlist :)

The stands joints absolutely SUCK on the original release. I have all the Inner Senshi OG release and I HATE the joint stands. They don't keep the figure up and have no structure.

I dunno. I don't think 55 bucks is bad for a posable figure. Thanks for the video, it did help me in deciding whether or not to get them since you can't always trust images. But I really need to go on a mini rant here about something.... I don't see how getting a posable fugre is any less than an alternative option. Unless a nonposable figure or proplica is made of resin, they're all made of PVC, which is still plastic. I'll even argue that several proplicas aren't worth their price. Yes, posable figures have small parts that can be easily lost, and it's only natural that their joints loosen over time, but to many of us who collect them, it's just par for the course. There's still several advantages to posable figures that can't be found with nonposable ones. HOWEVER with that said.... I've noticed there's a stark difference between companies that make posable figures. I have a large collection from different companies and I've noticed that Max Factory(aka the figma makers) have the best quality in their figures, while SH Figurarts is sadly the worst. Unfortunately, posable Sailor Moon figures are made by SH Figurarts, that's why they feel so cheap. Heck, I have figmas that are reaching ten years and they're still in better shape than newer SH Figurarts figures I own! Makes me sad to see that their quality control lacks so often, this is why I haven't purchased any of their Sailor Moon stuff. I'm so tempted to get Mercury but I dunno at this rate. I know in the end we all have preferences, but it kinda grinds my gears a bit when posable figures are just thrown aside as they usually are. I know they're more toy like, but if people can collect barbie dolls, I don't see how this differs in the realm of collecting. Collecting in itself is already an expensive hobby, so it's best to just collect what you love and not worry so much what they are. Unless they're bootlegs. Fuck bootlegs.

Interesting! I haven't had a great experience with my Figmas (Devil Homura, Godoka) but I thought the Sailor Moon Legend Studios figure had nice quality. Now if only they got the hair right...

@@SailorTortilla It could also be because the plastic on posable figures is different from still figures. They need more posability, so the plastic can't be too stiff, and some use rubber -like plastic for some parts. I always judge by the quality in terms of their character accuracy, paint job and overall range and manageability. Sometimes when a posable figure is too intricate or has too many parts, it can bring about problems like delicate pieces and less movement. I had a bad run in with a figma that was too back heavy and I accidentally broke a peg off because I was being too rough. The less intricacies, the less of a hassle they are. That Sailor Moon Legend figure does look to be of better quality but I would have to handle her around to judge better. That hair is awful tho xD

You forgot Crystal sailor moon and bootleg sailor moon 😂😂 Also does anyone else remember the eternal sailor moon we were meant to get or was that just a collective moonie dream? 😂😂
