It is interesting to see though, that Bottas apparently is faster at getting results on a track, but Hamilton ultimately wins out. You could explain it as Bottas always starting with a safe setup, where Hamilton starts exploring options, until it is time for the money run.

I've always thought that Hamilton purposely let's Bottas get P1 in practices to play with him mentally, it may sound cynical but it's very smart from Lewis whether you like him or not. It's also helped by the fact Bottas isn't as great as a driver as Hamilton, Verstappen, Leclerc, Ricciardo, etc

@@carlitoscepeda455 Bottas had purple in two sectors, not 3. The sector times are always in comparison to the current pole time. Bottas had two purple sectors compared to Hamilton's temporary pole, that doesn't mean much. After Bottas got provisional pole Hamilton had one purple sector compared to Bottas' time but that sector 2 purple was a bigger margin that made up for the other two sectors. Like PythonVFX said, look at the lap comparison and you'll see what happened.

Love him or hate him, there's no denying Lewis Hamilton is a beast. He's so fast, so consistently. And hats off to Leclerc for driving a dog of a car into such high places so often.

This track is beautifully design , low and highs wow it seem to be very fun and challenging to drive, f1 needs to keep this track.

2020 Formula 1 season was epic, so proud of Lewis. The Portmaio and Turkey you never disappoint whether in the sim or real life. I really Formula 1 goes back to two of my favourite tracks. Portimao, Turkey, SILVERSTONE, Road America, Mugello, these tracks are timeless and underrated.

That just shows that hamilton is timing his performance across the weekend, collecting data on friday and gradually getting faster until q3, it is no fluke that almost every time bottas is first in practice and q1 or q2 and then ham prevails

Poor Bottas having to go up against (one of) the best of all times. He'd have gotten pole with his q2 time too if i saw that right... And he would have gotten pole in q3 if his rear doesnt slide a bit off the track on his final lap.

Greatest Of All Time Let's just appreciate Lewis even though there's so many haters and people saying its cause he is in the best car.

So that’s 33-0 to Russell in F1 qualifying over his teammate. Once again, if Williams replace him before he has a seat at a better team, I’m happy for Williams to be 19th and 20th on every grid and race result for the next 20 years.

Just like the great Schumacher, when he was being paced by a team mate he used to try the double run, he did it several times time take pole right at the end. Legendary Champions like Michael and Lewis find a way!

Interestingly could be powerful for the unusual weekend of Q3 mediums, since they need more time to be in the perfect window and the start of hotlap 1 might be very slightly below temp. The initial wear drop-off into lap 2 is probably almost non-existent for M compared to the usually harsh S that does penalize 2nd consecutive laps. Still trying to wrap my head around how the Mercs managed to make M the fastest compound of the weekend. Excessive S tyre heat maybe?

There s a difference . Schumi got bigger challenges . Lewis got zero challenges . Nico left early and what he got then is a bodyguard teammate and an overpowered car .

In some seasons, yes, although in 2010 and 2011 you pretty much knew it would be a Red Bull on pole. Not so different to now.

Last time we saw him with a "real" team mate, Esteban Ocon in 2018, it was 16-5 in qualifying for Esteban Ocon (in his 2nd complete F1 season). So fantastic, I beg to differ. Fantastically deep pockets for Carlos Slim, it is.

I feel bad for Bottas. It's not easy against Hamilton. I can see he is trying a lot. And he has great pace. It's not easy to be tenth off of the guy with the most poles but his racecraft is the issue

@@austriangroyper9308 I’ve been saying this from time. They favour Hamilton over bottas. Look at the way they where celebrating when he got pole. Ask urself. If bottas got that will they be cheering like that? They want Lewis to break Schumacher record. In a way they give him the edge but I respect bottas so much for being humble and always trying his best. He gives his best and even when he wins. He’s still humble. I hope he challenge Lewis tommorow and go for the win

No, it's PARTY MODE that they were using. Makes for an interesting race tomorrow. Don't forget Charles was able to put the Ferrari on the second row using mediums and from yesterday Max didn't like the softies. I stand corrected.

I'll never get tired to see Perez ahead of Stroll. Hopefully it will be the same at the end of the race!
