    What a awesome Championship match. Congrats to Darren Tang for bowling a great game during the championship, no reason to be disappointed. Mad props to Tommy Jones on bowling a 300 game and solidifying his place as a Hall of Fame bowler and winning the Hall of Fame championship.... 🎳

    I love the “friendly rivalry” deal. There’s no need to let things get personal; on the approach and lanes, your only opponent/enemy is the lane, and yourself.

    MNohrLarsen if it happened while a five pin was standing, then it’s a league thing. If the player misses the five pin and you have your hand up, he would have to buy you a drink (usually alcohol in adult leagues). If, however, he makes it, he is not obligated to buy you a drink (there is no obligation on you either).

    Can someone explain to me why players would play straighter up the right side on the right lane? If it’s a shorter oil pattern doesn’t that mean it’s drier and should cause more hook on the ball?

  • @GingyNinjyy

    @GingyNinjyy

    4 жыл бұрын

    Well it doesnt mean balls hook more, it means they hook sooner. The reason they play up the lane is because on a short oil pattern, you can use urethane (best ball for controllable hook) for more control and they know the ball will hook quite a bit due to the amount of dry boards. Urethane will also carry some oil down so if they ever switch to reactive, the ball wont hit friction as soon as it would on fresh. Plus, straight is greater

  • @freakingape

    @freakingape

    4 жыл бұрын

    Well they use urethane to control and throw it straight. Using reactive resin they have to play very steep angle near the gutter and sometimes its just very hard to make sure your reactive does'nt hook too much. On the topic of urethane dragging oil down, it makes the lane much more miserable rather than helping it. A lot of bowlers will encounter wet/dry when trying to throw resin if urethane is used.

  • @DeanMcCain

    @DeanMcCain

    4 жыл бұрын

    To add to what the two people before me said, all oil patterns have the same volume of oil. It doesn’t matter whether it is long, medium, or short. It’s the same volume. So, on a short pattern, the oil is all concentrated near the front part of the lane. This makes it really hard to hook the ball with any sort of angle because the ball is going to skid forever and you would be lucky to hit any pins. The rest of this comment will be extra information: On a long pattern, the oil has a very low concentration, causing it to be transition really quickly, but the length requires you to use a very powerful ball. On a medium pattern, the oil is more evenly concentrated, allowing people to play all parts of the lane depending on their type of bowling.

  • @GingyNinjyy

    @GingyNinjyy

    4 жыл бұрын

    It all depends on where you get your 9 spares at. The math adds up. But reasons like this, people like me would prefer the world bowling tour scoring system because the score is the same as long as you bowl the same number of pin counts for every frame, no matter the order

  • @VanillaMidgetSSBM

    @VanillaMidgetSSBM

    2 жыл бұрын

    A strike is worth 10 pins + the next two balls you throw. Chris Barnes may have the same number of spares and strikes, but the location of them matters. Because Butturff has a strike going into the 10th, he has potential for more points as the strikes chain together. At THIS level of bowling, It can very well depend on how many strikes you can put together in a row.
