My wife got a new GLS580 last weekend (AMG package, 23" wheels, massaging seats, driver assist....), in Polar white. She wanted a larger SUV from her X3 for the grandkids & strollers. Buying it also allowed me to sell our F150 CrewCab off road pickup (6" lift), as it will meet all our needs for shopping, hauling, transporting, and towing. Was able to consolidate the X3 and F150 into a single vehicle, which will actually allow our family trips towing the boat more comfortable, and reduce our vehicle count in the driveway.

I always love a good Thomas review.

just like the looking of this generation mercedes. Gut gemacht, Zetsche!

Hi which SUV has most floaty and softest ride the 2020 Gle or the 2020 Gls

When the sun hits the dashboard ( from over your left shoulder, for example) the display brightness sensor is in the front windshield ( I guess, like on my other 2019 Mercedes car ) and it doesn't automatically adjust to the highest or higher brightness, so this big gorgeous display is useless, because you don't see anything on it?

DJ Thomas got swag! Whooping it up on the trails with the air suspension. Wished my glk could do that. Whoop whoop!

Strictly about ride quality, is GLS or Range Rover most similar to the S-Class sedan?

Will there fit my full suspension bike without wheels, when second row of seats is not folded? Wheel base of my bike is 124cm.

I usually put out the front wheel and then it fits in most trunks with 2nd row down. Without rear wheel hmm... could work. Why dont you check the interior part and compare the lengths I took? I gave the length in m/cm for end to 2nd row up

This car actually looks better in real life than on tv. In fact all mercedes look better in reality than on tv...

VEry good review- however the focus for me was to compare the 2 cars ....which is not answered in the review per se...could have focussed/given a little more time and input ot that

We do 60p for US TV viewers intentionally. Noone else in Germany does that :) We do 4K as soon as bandwidth improves

Might be best to go back to the “GL” name. Great SUV but it’s a far cry from an S-Class with respect to the interior quality. The GLC closely matches the C-class and the GLE is near the E-class. But this is just a slightly larger GLE in my opinion. Lots of hard plastic and rough leather.

tibchy144 yea lol. I expect the interior to be as good or better than my C63 which has only smooth nappa leather (no wrinkles) and no “obvious” plastic trim. Just like you see in an S-class, which is what they want you to think this is as the GL”S”

BMW X7 is better, you just can't beat the quality and for that price it's all about quality

A BMW x7 can’t dethrone a Mercedes Benz GLS, never the GLS is king in this Segment the x7 looks like a beaver with its hideous front grille

test drove both X7 and GLS. I ordered a X7. Why - better interior quality. Feels more modern inside. The active rear wheel steering in the X7 made the car feel to be 1 meter shorter than the GLS I drove. The Executive drive pro does everything the air carpet ride does, just a bit more agile. Last not least, just prefered the look of the X7, personally I think it looks a bit younger. But that's a matter of taste.

Quality ? Lmao I had a M5 , entire sunroof mechanism failed. $12k repair covered under warranty My x5m engine blew. Yup. It fcking basically imploded , $26k under warranty not to mention the dealer had to give me a brand new 550i as a loaner that I drove for 3 months. Lmao BMW is prob known for having the worst quality .. hence why most only lease it and get rid of . Just in time before the warranty goes

All Mercs will beat BMWs; the only thing which is sexier in BMW is its engine noise; one burst run flat tyre costed me a few thousand dollars to replace it; I will never buy BMW again
