I always prefer mercedes cars over bmw (apart from M category sedans), but I think BMW has the edge on this one. Both stunning cars!

I love those cars, I’ll buy them both. Oh its easy to forget, I can’t afford either of the two.

For me I'd want the GLS, but the huge remote for the X7 looks awesome. Drew and Mason, excellent side by side comparison. No pressure on the 2020 Subaru Legacy, you two are wonderful. Also I love that you guys used y'all on your vote list. I went to college in the south, so it took me back.

I have the BMW X7 with that same remote. Its battery runs out pretty quick and needs constant recharging. When i am ready for a trade in, i would definatly get one without that remote interface.

gls will drive big. I have a 2019 GLS 450, not fun to drive. great for the family though. X7 is tighter.

I think bmw x7 is just awesome and beautiful features with full options.

Okay, so that third sunroof on the BMW is just sick!!! Wow!

Very nice job on the comparison. Currently in the market to replace our GL550. On the GL550, it definitely feels like you’re isolated from all the noise. Very comfortable ride that makes the trips between NorCal & SoCal effortless. It can also haul lots of equipment. It has over 200K miles on it now. On the other hand, I drive a X5 with M package & feels very sporty. I’ve thought about XC90 or Q7, but keep falling back to GLS or X7.

Interior quality and use of materials is a big deal to me, and since BMW is ahead in that part, I’d take the X7.

Would you be OK to explain why? I don't really mind that aspect as I don't think I'm spending my time feeling the inside of the car. I suppose the looks matter more to me, not really the materials

I didn’t really like the styling on the X7 when it came out but now I think it looks pretty good since I’ve seen a few in person. I’m not a huge fan of the GLS towards the back. Maybe it’ll grow on me. I’ll probably go with the X7 for it’s style. The interiors and features are pretty well matched

Both the GLS and X7 are amazing cars

hey AJ,would you take it easy on the merc dude,merc people get ripped off all the time by that hard plastics you just mentioned and its not a problem,ultimately its all about that three pointed star.the wheels on that GLS are hideous or is it just me who saw that.i personally dont think merc people gets value for their money.But apart from that it was a great video.

The X7 is just a better SUV in my opinion!!

Could you guys please review each vehicle’s auto drive/lane keeping tech going forward? I need the best for highway driving…

I'd choose the X7, hands down. Its just styled with a little more refinement. And, the two-tone interior gives the car more character.

To choose one i want them to do the side pole test, cuz in that test the gle vs x5, the deformation of the x5 didn't looked so good...

BMW is 2 steps higher than the new GLS. Performance wise, the X7 M50i is a monster.

GLS has a Napa leather interior option that would have been a better comparison to the BMW’s leather. I know many people like the two toned leather seating, I don’t. What I like about GLS is you can upgrade to an executive plus back seat option with heated/ventilated/massage features just like front seats with a tablet that allows you to control the options built in. I like to sit in back on a 10 hr round trip I do every 3 months so my husband can listen to sports & I can put on noise cancelling headphones in back & listen to what I want. I also deal with back pain so this option is as important to me as ride comfort & quiet. I’m doing the option to take it further with a sound cancelling barrier. I like the interior lighting options & layout inside better on Mercedes. If I was younger, I’m sure the BMW would be more appealing because it’s sportier. Of course, I couldn’t have afforded it when I was younger! They’re both great vehicles so it comes down totally to personal preferences.

Joseph Friedman no it’s not for example from the top of my head Apple CarPlay takes the full display so you get the full experience unlike MBUX oh and also no wireless CarPlay in the Merc

BMW way better design and materials.....

Nice review, but I was expecting these flagship vehicles to have V8 engines.

Johnathan B The X7 (is larger and has more wheelbase than the GLS) and has captain seats that can recline, which is of high quality. The GLS is also good, but not as good as the X7

Mercedes was my favorite brand but I had so many issues with gls, I don’t think I’ll buy another Mercedes again. Maybe G63 because it looks good but Mercedes gls was not very reliable. Same with BMW 550. I dont like the way this new gls’s rear end looks.

I have test driven both. X7 third row is a crap. GLS interior is also good. Only place X7 scores is exterior I believe again that’s subjective.

BMW X7 for me...got to wait for the AMG version is released

I was rooting for the x7 the whole time!!! I’ve always been a Mercedes fan but this year they let me down with the exterior design. Like Mercedes is always known for that aggressive mean face. And I’m wondering what happened to that this year. Like the Mercedes GLS needs a face lift up. And an aggressive look especially for that high price.

Many release reviews of the GLS stated the interior was not high enough quality for the segment (remember this is competing with the Range Rover also) have sat in both cars and it’s 100% right the materials used in the X7 are of a higher quality than the GLS. Mercedes need to do more. Everyone that says oh the Mercedes is better has not sat in both cars and or simply has a Mercedes bias

I had GL 350 for 4 years, and GLS 450 for another 3 years. Now I just get my BMW X7, so far so good!

There's some really cool features though behind the looks like the whole sunroof lights up, automatic rear shades, third row has climate control and sunroof, automatic parking, and more

It has a mistake. M-B has bettee fuel-ECO, but its score is low.

Many perks on the GLS were not mentioned, including the fact that with captains chairs you can walk through the middle seat in the GLS, but you can't in the X7.

I went to see both of these this past weekend. I am a Mercedes s550 owner and usually a die hard Mercedes fan, but this BMW blew the Mercedes truck away. The interior on the BMW was just gorgeous and felt like a luxury car where the Mercedes still feels like a SUV. The Mercedes had smaller narrow seats by comparison too. The ambient lighting inside the BMW was striking. Center console was gorgeous. Mercedes was boring by comparison and not nearly as comfortable to sit in. I didn't drive them, but for the first time in my book, the BMW was by far the more luxurious vehicle for me.

Don’t know if anyone noticed that different choice of the details in each car is annoying They had to choose the same interior specs like colors and materials choices and specially forgetting that the x7 is only available with this only exterior sporty look so bringing the gls amg package would be fair enough
