Great teardown! I need to replace the bezel across the bottom of my display. After I detach the display assembly from the lower case, I am thinking of using a clay-filled microwavable heating strip to loosen the adhesive. This will reduce the risk of excess heat and allow me to focus the heat on the bezel and away from the panel. Do you think this is the best approach?

I've had an M1 MacBook Air for around 2 years and I wanted to see what's actually inside it, great teardown!

M1 MacBook Air is passively cooled. There is no fan and there are no air vents but its not air-sealed

The bit that fits is: S2 * 1,2

Hi, could you please tell me how i can fix the issue with a broken screen. I want to use my macbook air m1 a2337 like a desktop. So i already desassembled the lcd( witch was broken) so after booting it directly go to an extarnal display wich wont work. Great question, come with long answer :) Keyboard backlight is thin plastic layer that is black color and covers in between the keyboard and the logic board area, look at the link below that shows the keyboard assembly and you can see the keyboard backlight plastic layer in the 3rd picture. After all if your lucky sometime tiny drop of liquid can get trap in a not so sensitive area of the laptop and maybe just make your keyboard a bit sticky but most of the time that is not the case, smallest amount of liquid damage sometimes take a long time to show and cause trouble to the components such a logic board or flex cables or even make the Li-ion battery Swelling and best option is to open and clean the liquid damage area as soon as possible before corrosion damage occurs, Clean up the area using new toothbrush and 95% to 99% isotope alcohol that can be found at pharmacy stores before actual damage and than need to put everything back together and that is not so easy and you should consider the risk ion your doing that your self, Safest way to save your laptop and data is also the most expansive option, Make sure not to use the laptop and do not attempt to turn it on, air dry the excessive liquid if needed and do not put in rice bag as that case additional damage due to the rice dust, If you can disconnect the battery until liquid damage is cleaned or the bad part is replaced, do not turn on and take it to experienced technician,. Is the M1 Macbook Air sealed? Obviously we do not have the fans anymore but I just can't tell from the angle if there is any vents or not. Reason I am asking is whether the M1 Air will allow any dust to get in which usually happens with the fans and we don't have it here. If it is fully sealed, I think it would be really cool

Not a full teardown, keyboard is replaceable but this indeed poses some challenge opposite to the rest, as well as (to some extent) detaching the battery

Yes not full teardown, you can really keep going if you want this thing in to parts, almost no Limit where to stop, well there is a limit but im sure you get my point :)

Great question but not an easy solution, One thing to keep in mind that the hard drive ( storage ) in this model is not removable and it is soldered to the main board aka logic board, so to recover the data most likely you need to get the actual board fixed, and not any repair shop can do that! must find logic board specialist, i dont think apple can help as they dont fix and just replace and that in this case will not help at all as you must have someone with experience get the board fix without loosing any data! the 2nd option is much more expansive and that is to find highly skilled data recover company that may or may not be able to do the work, one thing for sure do not try to turn on the laptop and do not give to repair shop that is not highly experienced in logic board circuit repair! one other thing! do not wait too long as liquid damage get worse over time and its best to get it repaired soon. good luck MacBook Air 2020 M1 Data Recovery A2337

Hi! I bought a MacBook m1 and after 14 months of used I managed to crack the display unfortunately. I looked for a brand new one but they are pretty expensive. I bought a second hand MacBook that is locked at a very good price but has the gold color and mine is silver so I can't just replace the screen because won't look good. If I buy that laptop and change the mai board(motherboard) from mine to the one locked. Would that work?

Great question, i believe you can move your own board & touch id to the other laptop and it should work just fine, it a possibility that you lose the true tone in your display since display is paired with the other board, also you can just change the lcd and put a skin or cover on your laptop. please do your own research before doing anything as i may be wrong. good luck

Hello Dika! Unfortunately you won’t be able to change the Ram memory in this model, Ram is not upgradable since Ram chips are soldered to the main board

Yes, 98% iso alcohol is great for cleaning the parts while battery is not connected, but in order to clean inside the lcd you need to open the lcd and that need good amount of experience and tools, opening the actual lcd is becoming harder as they are getting thinner, so not sure if you can access inside the lcd to clean the liquid.. best is to replace the entire lcd assembly, you can find them in tekdep.com

Hello AJ, Short answer is that No! you can't as both Ram and ssd Storage are soldered in to the logic board and no way to switch them, best is to sell your MacBook Air and buy the version you need. good luck

After watching hundreds of macbook fixes, I come to the conclusion that "service" is a huge part of macbook profit. These things are made to be broken and serviced. LOL.

I been using one of this macbook air m1 and so far i have to say no overheating issue, but if you place it on your lap or if you use while placing the laptop on your bed or sofa i would assume it will start overheating, always place the laptop on a hard surface like a table or desk that way the back of the laptop can act like a big heatsink... good luck
