I bought my Sonata Hybrid at the end of July in the same color!!! Mine is the blue trim with quite a few of the upgrades. I cannot say enough great things about that car, and it really does get 52 MPG, perhaps even more!!! It rides and drives like a dream!!! I'm really tall, 6 foot 7 to be exact, hence the name Bigfoot! I can sit in and drive this car quite comfortably, and still have a somewhat usable back seat! It also has lots of kick to it, even in eco mode!!! I think I'll do a little review of my own on my new gem!

I don't understand why a young man would be road testing a Sonata Hybrid. I'll bet Hyundai won't sell a thousand units to that demographic. I am 75 years old and can't wait to get my hands on one. I guarantee you I won't be driving in Sports Mode. I want the 50MPG, and will live and die in Eco Mode. Oh sure, there will be times I have to hammer it to merge into traffic, put I promise you that 95% of my driving will be either freeway cruising pro running errands to the store or church. I don't give a FLIP about back seat seating and leg room. If someone needs to ride with me and has to sit in the back, either get in or call Uber!

The Accord looks like absolute trash. I'd be embarrassed driving something that looks that bad. Honestly, one of the worst looking cars I've ever seen. Camry is OK. The Sonata's design is another level good. As far as everything else, Hyundai is the best bang for your buck. I'm biased though, I loved my 2011 Sonata so much, i bought a 2020 hybrid limited. Lol

@@samadams5370 You won't pay for maintenance for 3 years on the 2020s. It's complimentary. When you do start paying, as long as you do proper scheduled maintenance and keep oil in it, it is as reliable as they come. In the 9 years I owned the 2011 I had exactly ZERO major failures. Insanely reliable cars.

Looks are so personal right. "I think" 😸 Honda's have the worst styling inside and out, seriously. The materials used and finishing for their interiors, don't usually look and feel as premium as the other competitors, especially Mazda. It's not just about styling, but also seating/driver position and connection to the car, ride & handling, refinement, etc. Model depending, they are not consistent - a HR-V would be bad in its class for all those things mentioned, but a Civic would care better. Honda's strengths are usually in their interior space and decently powerful (to weight) engines. Still, I wouldn't like to be seen owning and driving a Honda, and they are at the bottom of my list with Nissan (in major trouble) and Mitsubishi (budget choice & lower build quality). My first choices would be any car in the current Toyota alliance, with Mazda being at the top for most segments (unless you want a hybrid & TNGA), Lexus if you want higher luxury, and Daihatsu & Suzuki in the small car and budget segment. Isuzu and Toyota for for 4x4s. Subaru is a left-field choice and they are using CVTs, plus the lack of powerful engines in many markets and some other minor criticisms I have about them. Next would be the Koreans, and here I would usually prefer a KIA because of their better styling among other things, but the Hyundai does have a more mature feel and desire to it in many markets. The K5 (Optima name dropped) exterior styling vs the Sonata here is a good demonstration. Most early reviews I have seen, have reported that the K5 also has better better in performance and ride & handling. Well, just thought that I would share a bit 😉😸 thanks for listening.

Well Hyundai and KIA share many of their platforms (such as between the K5 and the Sonata), so I wouldn't expect too much to be different in driving characteristics, but def a few differences.

With the Kia you lose premium luxury and convenience features as they are a step below Hyundai (or the company’s sporty line). Think Pontiac vs Buick. The K5 has vinyl (faux leather seats), no push button shifters and no 12 inch multi display dash. I looked at both and bought the Sonata. It’s much more upscale

Hybrid cars are not designed to stay & doomed to fail. After all why carry two power train every where , pay two maintenance, pay for two fuels, two headaches only to achieve one objective !!! And yet damage environment as there is no Tomorrow...Total madness. I guess taxi drivers & those travelling more than 300 miles a day could benefit from Hybrid cars.

I had a 2007 Camry, and it was a total POS. Burned oil, complained to Toyota. They denied anything was wrong with it. It threw a rod at 72,xxx miles. Got a letter from Toyota the following weekend after the engine self destructed acknowledging that there was a serious issue with the piston rings in that engine. I called them, and they pulled my file with my oil complaints in it. Then informed me that they couldn’t do anything about it, because the engine had to be running for them to leak test it again. I was furious! What happened to the engine was due to crank shaft wobble from bad rings. A year before the engine sh!T itself, the water pump exploded on the way to work. Was blowing heat through the vents, boom! Steam from under the hood suddenly no heat. Was told it was a fluke, googled it and found others had the same problem. Never again will I buy another Toyota. Total piece of sh!t.
