I just did this comparison myself and shopped both trucks extensively. I came to the exact same conclusion as you...right up until I drove them both. My dealer let me drive them both for a couple of days. There is NO comparison to how they ride. To each his own but if you want a seriously smooth ride its Denali all day long...if you are going to be going offroad a bunch, its the AT4 all day. I spend 60 miles a day on the road and the AT4 was way rougher and harsh than the Denali. I probably wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t spent 2 days driving the Denali. 2 inch Suspension Maxx lift for the Denali with zero change in ride... now it sits like the AT4. Easy call for me. Bought my 2020 Denali 2 weeks ago.

Was the 2 inch lift a from factory option or after market? Also, how tall is it with 2 inch lift? Needs to fit in my garage :)

I chose the Denali for a couple of reasons. It is lower to the ground and makes it easier for others to get in and out as well as getting things out of the bed. It has power running boards that are great and both have a button at the back end that you tap with your foot and swings all the way back to allow you to stand and get things out of the front of the bed or shove towards the back. Other then that either truck is a awesome choice.

The chrome on a Denali is beautiful and sticks out more than the at4 ..I got the 2020 Denali red quartz tint color and I get compliments almost everyday!!

Yep, AT4 is the way to go. I bought a 2020 AT4 with the 6.2L yesterday. Got it for $52k. I test drove a 5.3L and it was significantly slower than my Ram with 5.7L hemi. I didn’t expect there to be much difference in the 6.2 compared to my Ram since my Ram had a tune but I was wrong.

Denali all day for me. The AT4 is also great and you wouldn’t make a wrong choice with either. Bought a 2020 Denali with the Ultimate package last week for 58k sticker was 70k. AT4 was 57k so essentially power running boards was the difference. I just like the look of the Denali better.

Have you seen fords newer super duty king ranch. It blows these trucks out the water and wins in almost every aspect.. power, technology and luxury, massage seats and the beast looking and comfortable leather seats check it out man but this truck dose look good on the outside 👍🏻

Recently purchased a 2020 Sierra Denali over a AT4 and after the lift/level I put on it(3.5”), I would choose the Denali 7 days a week. Absolutely love the look and has the same if not more ride height than the AT4. So with the same electronic suspension I have the same if not better clearance but with a more luxurious aesthetic.

I’m happy reading this comment! I purchased the 22 Denali ultimate 1500 and I’ve been kinda bummed out that I can’t really go off-road like the at4 can. But I plan on lifting it about 4-6 inches with a rough country lift and 20’ wheel instead of 22 with a 35 inch tire. I think that’ll do the trick hehe. 🙌🏼

People act like the tailgate comes down with a large amount of force and if you drop the tailgate the ball is going to rip through the tailgate. It swings down slowly and if you do have a hitch in , the ball will hit the plastic part of the tailgate not the actual tailgate . Put a tennis ball on your ball if it's that hard to remember you have a hitch in .

Didn’t bring up the rear view mirror/camera or the adaptive ride control which makes it ride WAY better on and off road.

Id pick the Denali over the at4. Both are nice but for me, i dont do much off roading. I do road trips though so comfort on a long road trip would be my thing. I would imagine it would be more road noise in the at4 with off road tires. I like to keep my vehicles clean too, washing them a couple times a week, so id have no problem with the chrome. The performance package is an option on the Denali as well.

You forgot to mention the smooth ride from the shocks on Denali which is the reason I chose Denali and it will also go off road!

We got the 2020 Denali ... why? Well it’s only a 5k difference 🤷🏽‍♀️ & who would prefer the luxury. At the end of the day it’s what you want . We’re more than happy. Nobody wants a runner up, they want the winner 😂

But how is it a winner? With both of these it's gonna be more of an opinion because it's literally all the same except one has a lift and off road capability. It's gonna be which one is more practical for you but in reality the choice is simple AT4 all the way especially being that they are about the same. Really is the smarter decision.

That at4 has the cold air intake and catback exhaust....435hp and 469 torque. Just a small bump but worth noting.

Simple: let someone else pay 70k. Rack up 10k miles on it. Trade it in. Then you buy it used for 35-40k 😂😁

I just got a 2015 f-150 king ranch... only 39k miles. Cost $37k. Looks almost exactly as clean and new as the 2020 king ranch, which cost $70k. Buying a new truck is dumb, hard to keep the value.

Great comparison between the two GMC trucks. Even though the AT4 costs less than the Denali and is lifted and has the capability to go off road, I somewhat drawn to the Denali. Plus I like the full chrome look and hood scoop design. Overall great promo!

Really depends on what you’re intended use for it is, if you’re leaning towards domestic duties and all around nice family machine then definitely the Denali but if it’s a truck for work and/or more off road work then naturally the AT4, as a family vehicle I’m sure family members would appreciate less of a climb getting in and out and it’d be my choice because like the lower more luxury look of it but I think with all the chrome it’d be more colour sensitive

I’ve read there are many owners of the new 1500’s are suffering from water leaks from rear sliding windows. The current GM fix is squirting a tube of clear sealant into the area. Google it as it’s a big problem. I’m not buying until there’s a permanent fix.

Picked up my 2021 AT4 with the 6.2 last month. Love it. 3rd GMC for me. The Denali styling/chrome has never been my thing and AT4 really suited my taste.

Ok we get it. They're the same. Only difference is one is for Luxury (Denali). The other one for Off-roading (AT4). Totally a preference choice.

I got the AT4 Carbon Pro which has all that with a carbon composite bed, speakers in the tailgate, and HUD on the windshield. The heads up display is great for speed limits and the navigation directions.

I just choose the AT4 trim over the Denali. In the Canyon though. Prices were the close. Only diff was the cooled seats in the Denali. Looks of the AT4 won the day.

AT4 also has the rubber floor matts already installed! huge for me since i work in the field!

The AT4 actually has a LOT more options not covered here. Right now is a great time to purchase with zero percent financing and good markdowns due to a lack of sales because of quarantines. I almost feel bad for practically stealing mine from the dealership for the same price as a 2-year-old 50K mile Raptor. I chose the AT4 because it's much nicer than the Raptor on the inside and much more useful for hauling, etc. Besides, I'll never run Baja but can climb anything around me now. I love it and highly recommend the AT4 over the Denali any day. It's literally the same truck with better performance, capabilities, and looks for a better price.

Just purchased a 2020 AT4 with the 6.2 and all the premium packages with the 18in rims (better look than the 20in imo), safe in center console, etc. only thing I don’t have is the carbon bed. Paid 55k all in. MSRP was 71k.

Not an equal comparison under the hood and exhaust. The AT4 has the performance upgrade package for $2,275 that comes with performance air intake (clear casing with air filter inside) and Cat-back performance exhaust. Sounds deeper and gives you another 10 hp.

Kinda weird how the denali has power running boards but will go off road way less, making the power running boards useless? Where on the at4 if it had power running boards it could keep them from being hit off roading. Which obviously youd off road more in the at4. Kinda backwards from GMC

I just got a slt model, it’s the best bang for your buck of all of the Sierra 1500 models! I have all of the safety features, ventilated and heated seats, multi pro tailgate, leather interior and really anything you could ask for. All I’m missing is the Denali exclusive 360 camera system and gimmicky camera mirror

My AT4 has the 360 camera system. It really comes in handy when parking. Congrats on your SLT. I almost bought that model.

In 2021 i'm buying a brand new AT-4 2500 4x4 Diesel 10 speed Allison Transmission! They are driving me nuts now about buying one of 2020 models but i'm hoping the price goes down a little.They just came back from being on Strike also a the recalls will be fixed!

I have a 2020 Sierra 2500 Duramax Denali, its silver. My first Diesel and its awesome. The power is unreal. The prices don't go down too much on Diesel trucks bro, so waiting prob wont help. Get yourself one for Christmas man, you'll love it.

Would like to see this done with the 2024 models with the 6.2 to see if the impressions have changed.

Yes, I've only just realized this. It's so confusing. Chevy kept it the same throughout, "Silverado" on the left and the trim level on the right of the tailgate.

The AT4 has more power about 15hp because of that cold air intake you missed

the 10 speed transmissions are garbage for towing. We towed a 27’ camper with my dads 2019 Sierra and it pulled it like it didn’t even know it was there, but now the transmission kicks and spitters and often slips.

There's "towing mode" you can select when towing and will stop early unnecessary shifts. I have a 28 foot travel trailer and towing with this on makes a significant difference.

Rami Omar lol you need to own a 6.2. I average 17 city 21 to 22 highway stepping on it from time to time. Definitely a lot better than a 5.4 I used to have averaged 12. 6.2 all the way.

Take another no-brainer the Denali has 420 horsepower compared to the 84 that only has 380 horsepower. Denali all the way

Jordan Bryan I own an slt and it’s amazing. No issues at all... well, when you speak to the car it doesn’t work well at all. If I wanted to call someone it will recognize their name and all of that, even say it... but it won’t pull it up

Doesn’t the AT4 have speakers in the tailgate?

Lots of optional equipment in the owners manual...a lot! ..One they list is, a scale to calibrate the different loads on each tire.. goes blue tooth to the trucks black box. With this option can you vary the load distribution ? Is their differant shock options depending on what your towing ? O yeh what about the towing optional differences ? There is lot of optional differenceing in trailering capability ? Is any of the optional equipment, packages, paint between the Denali/AT available on both ? What are they? What are the weight limits, . On these trucks,, there’s a tag that has that info.., Option selection when you buy one ?I’m not sure why I watched this

Rear window is no faster or slower than any other manufacturer. Not like it’s a door on the Star Trek Enterprise. This 14min video is about 12min to long since both trucks are 90% the same and there’s no way you’re taking the AT4 off road. It’s still cost $66K

The Denali has 22" tires. Of course it rides smother. The tire treads make it quieter. The adaptive cruise driver assist is sweet.

The Denali is alot nicer if you get the duramax diesel with 490HP and 950ft lb torque
