Yes!!!! This is amazing. I added another Hayden transmission cooler to my 09 Tahoe and the transmission sits around 140-150F. Best mod ever!

Great Vid . getting ready to do this to my 2018 Silverado 1500 LT. Waiting for part and gasket to come in. Was also enjoying Ann & Nancy Wilson in the background.. Thank you....

It works on a 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 2WD 8l90 transmission. Seems to lower temperature somewhat.

I have a 2020 suburban that I pull a camper with. This would be a great modification.. Where did you buy the conversion kit? And which one was it?

My understanding is this mod helps torque convertor longevity. On these transmissions if the convertor goes up it can take out the entire transmission.

You are correct. It appears the weak link in these units is the torque converter clutch. I have not heard the specific mechanism that causes it to fail, but heat is the enemy of any hydraulic system and this is an easy mod to reduce the temperature.

is it worth it and what is the main purpose aside from cooler temp and trans life span?
@smokingoatgarage

Was definitely worth it. The cost and time invested was minimal to reduce the trans temp. Max I see now is 165 where I was near 200 before. Keeping the trans fluid cool will extend the life of the internals, bar none

It’s now June. Seeing ambient temperature of 85 F. Idling in traffic my max trans temp is around 180 F. Once I get going it drops to high 160s
