So guys, if I was going to customise an R9T - I'd go for the standard R9T Sport variant. I'd get an Ali tank with the risen, visible weave. I'd put on Kineo wheels, exposed K&N air filters, maybe a bobbed back end or even a cafe racer type rear seat pod . I'd definitely go for a twin Pro Race exhaust system, a pipe on either side of rear (they look insane), lots of rizoma goodies and a lashing of tasteful, glossy carbon fibre... Now praying for the lottery win! 🙏 How would you customise yours? 😈

Get rid the hotdog seat, make it single. Passanger parts change it with intricate modern pattern back rack (flat but keep it in flow the original frame underneath). Short exhaust up to below the passanger footpeg. Get rid passanger footpeg. Get rid the front light silly "horn". Get the M color scheme or flat black it or black&yellow (helloww🌼) .. K&N filter. Put yellow helmet-duck, ready to go .. 🐥 💨💨💨🌈 Edited : get rid mirror with below handle bar one

Nice review...despite the weather!. I've had some nutty sports bikes, but am happily into my T7/ XR650R these days. BUT...I took an Urban GS out for a few hours last summer and fell in love with that Boxer engine and the simple nature of the bike...and the fabulous grunt of the engine. Its so nice not to have an ugly great radiator spoiling the looks too. And like you said, you can customise it endlessly, with Wunderlich, Rizoma, and just up the road from me is Pier City Customs, R Ninety specialists. I have an image in my head of how I would mod the standard Rninety...and how i would mod an Urban GS!! The extra height of the Urban suits me..but the standard Rninety can look amazing...decisions decisions, can I justify another bike! Cheers, Steve

"I can't imagine with a full system, ooooua it makes me shudda." Great stuff! I agree, it does sound great. Enjoyed your ride-along!
Love this taller version of the R9T. The sound is the BEST. I’d get this one or the R9T Pure. Then the customization would begin, but stock is just perfect also. Thanks for another great review!
hi Kate, the R9T is everything you have spoke about, it is biking back to basic's. I love it. Glad you did this so sorry I missed this one previously. Keep up the good work.
I’ve got a 2019 r9t pure, as I couldn’t afford the top model. I got it because I was always in love the old R80. It doesn’t disappoint. I absolutely love it Kate.
Great to see you on proper bmw lol I just love the style being a retro old man great stuff Kate
I’d love to have one of these in the garage. Never ridden one, but they look so good.
Nice review again kate. Lovely looking and sounding bike and some nice local roads
I've done a lot of mods to my Pure. Best 1 was probly fitting a $60 rear mudguard off ebay. It makes a good improvement in wet conditions, stops the back wheel throwing rain and crap all over your back.
Hi Kate, I enjoyed this ride, despite the rain, a nice review of the R9 and would definitely add a fuel gauge, and loved the roar! the gold and black is very impressive! nice to be able to make it your own too!
Thanks for the review Kate,i had to double check the reg when you stopped as i pick a used one from you guys on monday in the same colour scheme. Stay Safe
Hi Kate, I enjoyed this ride with you today, despite the awful weather, I could listen to you talking all day, I just love your accent and non stop humour. This is one beautiful machine, with a gorgeous growl when you open her up, and there is a lot to be said for a basic bike, just jump on and go. It has the two essentials, ABS and heated grips, I would just add fuel and distance indicators! Thanks for another great entertaining video!
Keep on! Keeping on. That's was a lovely video, thanks
Great video Kate, Would love a picture of a Bike with Theatre of Dreams in background. You sound so natural a right professional. Cheers Kate Happy new year to you x .
cannot fault your commitment Kate, put many of us to shame. I almost bought a used one last year. Nice bikes.
Well done for going out on such a mizzo day - medal in post!!
Sounds fantastic, enjoyed the ride along.
I initially didn't understand this bike, but now, I get it and truly appreciate what BMW is doing in this space. I want one!!!
😳 no fuel gauge, na that’s a No go,love the colour though. Thanks for taking us along again 🥂🤓 😎🏍💨💨💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦
Nice video. The R9 T range is my favourite
Great review as always. I’m not so sure about the sound of the RnineT, they look great, but one passed me near Waitrose the other day and it sounded a bit like an old VW Polo. I’d have to whack an angry can on it to bring it alive! All the best for 2021
This lovely engine, shaft and being BMW is very tempting. Maybe the Munich bean counters achieved less cost cutting on these oil-heads than they did on the liquid-cooled that followed. I know I'm going to get accused of being a nutcase but I think these have more character. According to marketing, the current shift-cam stuff is the best ever.................... until it's superseded by super-shift-cam that is. Can't wait for your Ural review! Thanks Kate - Happy New Year.
I met you briefly, Kate, at BMW Manchester back in August when I test rode an R9T Pure Sport with (as extras) the brushed aluminium tank with visible weave and traction control. I ended up buying that bike and I love it! I had a sit on the bike your are riding on this vid (it was parked up at BMW when I was there and you mentioned it was your commuter) and found it too tall for me - but I can 'flat foot' mine! Being the sport mine has heated grips, LED indicators, Chrome exhaust, and wire wheels. It's an ex-BMW staff bike (not a demonstrator - a BMW exec's company bike), when I bought it at under a year old it had 750 miles on it. It has a few more miles on now and you might see it about March time when it comes in for a service! I had the dealership add a second clock (so it now has RPM and gear position) and cylinder head protectors. I have added a hugger, fender extender, Oberon bar-end mirrors, Wunderlech centre stand, Evotech tail tidy, brushed aluminium seat hump (matches the tank) in place of the passenger seat, removed the passenger seat frame, and fitted SW Motech soft panniers. Pity I cant post a picture here as it looks superb! It has the standard exhaust, but it sounds great, especially when you open it up, and on the over-run when it crackles and pops (no backfires) like a Spitfire's Rolls Royce Merlin! It's a crackin' bike!! It gets lots of complimentary comments at petrol stations when I fill up.
We always try to get up to the top barn when we visit. Looks like a stiff ride. Great post.
I love the Urban GS. Need to try one really
Always like the look of these bikes
Brilliant review, one of the few bikes I've yet to try! 👍

Another great video Kate. Would love to have R NINE T as a second bike.Thank you for the video.
What a stunning bike, I love the fact that its so basic in the controls. Not sure if I prefer the gold and black or the white/red/blue, both are gorgeous.
Thank you so much for this video. The R9T is my favorite bike at the moment. The bike sounds like one of the old airheads. And yes me to, I also pull the trottle on and off to hear it again, and again... 😉. The rolling movement clockwise is still there when you pulling on the cable. But the "elevator effect" has gone... Better for finding a good line while cornering. What customizing I like without thinking about money.... A titanium exhaust system, 2 pipes underseat or 2 on left side with nice heat shields like on the scrambler. I like the colors of titanium when heated. Colors for the bike are two possible. Brg british racing green everywhere or better BMW's motor sport's colors. Light blue, dark blue and red on white ground. Handlebar with cross bar. Led headlights.....and less plastic, more carbon... More simple, looking like an old one, but with new tec an doubled horsepowers. That can be the idea for this bike. If you like inspiritation have also a look at the bikes from 46Works. Have I understand it right over 100 hp? This is more than my Sprint RS 955i have..... A lot of power... Btw here in Germany the government let spread salt on the streets against freezing. Not good for bikes. Had an winter bike and it looked terrible after a while. Now I make a winter break with riding. Starting in spring again...
Lovely sounding bike. 👍
Great review. I am anxious watching you ride in these conditions. lovely bike though.
Love mine, swapped out the knoblies for Mich PR5s - stunningly capable, bags of character unlike my previous 1250gs. Needs better suspension though
Great video. I'm not sure what my next bike is going to be as I'm still digging my 1200XE. You're too cool!
Wishing you a Happy Xmas.Thks for the video coverage over the last year.Best wishes.JHB-SA.
After numerous bikes over a long time, my best bike to date! Good material for a review, by a good reviewer, a credit to Williams!

Kate this was a brilliant video, thanks for doing that request especially on your day off in the cold & rain. This bike is just a nice escape from all that tech. Merry Christmas btw!. What would I do to an R Nine T? Probably just change the exhaust, gold rims, add a big Aux light on one side, stick on some luggage & off I go, no need to change
Bikers bike and weather🌧️🦆🦆🦆 Have a wonderful prosperous and healthy new year.
RnineT pure with dual a Grenade exhaust that exit just below and aft of each cylinder just looks amazing. I expect it sounds as good as it looks too.
Most beautiful bikes ever made......mwaaaa R9T for life
Best description of the sound ever.. "It sounds like a dirty wet fart!" 😂🤣
Always thought the 9T series was a mature man’s 350LC equivalent. Took a test ride when it first came out great bike for hooling around on a Wednesday night or a Sunday morning.. Great that it’s stayed tech free and with the best 1200 engine* 😉🤗 *I’m biased on the engine... even though I have a 1250gsa I’ll never sell my 2013 1200gsa I love riding it, it has proper engine braking & I favour the characteristics over the water cooled engine, still gives me a buzz when I take it out. Its part of the family like my 250LC
Good stuff Kate, think I much prefer the blue and white version htat is a nice homage to the original R80GS.....
So nearly bought one of these... love the yellow/gold. Fair play to you for riding all weathers and providing these great vids for us. As before, if you guys are ever down new forest way, fresh cuppa available. 🫖 👍👍

@@UsernameKate so just revisiting this bike so pre eur5? sounds so much better, also what year did the ride by wire get fitted to them? but do love the new imperial blue out just now torn between this and a nice 2019 i have also found in the white, did not want to much teck love the classic too but found that much heavier to move around
The lack of fuel gauge bothered me initially but I've learned to set one of the trip meters to zero every time I fill up and I know that the fuel light comes on at about roughly 170 miles so the trip meter tells me when I'm getting close to the light coming on. I also would've liked a gear indicator but this Bike is the only one I've ever ridden where I find I'm in a lower gear than expected. Most Bikes I ride I find I'm hunting for a non existent higher gear but quite often on this one I click up just to check I'm in top only to find two more gears available! Love your vids Kate. Keep 'em coming.

"So rock n roll...." 👏👏👏👏👏🤣🤣🤣
Quality Review as always 👍🏻- now can you please take the Grom for a rip 😎
Set the trip to 0 when you fuel, always fill it, when you get to 150 miles the reserve gauge kicks in on the screen at 0.0 and counts up, whEn you get to +15 miles, make sure you’re at petrol station. Cheap persons fuel gauge 👍👌 I have the Scrambler, same colour scheme, love it.
Another bang on review 👍🏼☠️😎

I think the tachometer / fuel gauge is an option? I'd have that, luggage racks and windscreen, and it'd be ready for touring ('cos the best rides take days). Oh, and a sportier muffler. Gotta have that. Cheers Kate!
I've gone back to sit up bikes so I get the bmw. I was always gixxers, had 2 years on a busa gen one, crazy fast. I missed wringing a sit up so bought a 2021 GSXS 750. Sounds like a mad move but red lining114bhp is so much fun.
You know, Kate is another poster of content that kept many of us from losing our minds during various lockdowns. We iwe owe her some THANKS

No THANK YOU for watching John 😊😊😊
Enjoyed the video. If you can review the R nineT Pure that'd be great.
My RnineT Racer is stock and I think the exhaust sounds great, blipping down the gearbox is very satisfying. With two clocks I do have a gear indicator, why do I need that I thought when I bought the bike as I got a prize as a child for multiplication? All my previous bikes had 5 gears but it turns out I can’t count to 6 so the gear indicator has been very useful. Love the bike 🇬🇧🏍
On the video that bike sounds like it's purring. Although your description is way funnier 🤣🤣 Very nice! 👍🏼

Loved the trip over rivington took me back to when i lived there... re the bike looks and sounds great but seriously no fuel gauge id love to be in that design meeting to see why they ditched the most useful bit of tech by all means go retro but if so why put clocks and trip meters on it. Hey Kate many many moons ago before you were born I suspect I tested BMW's on an open day and my fave one was the R800 at that time .If I could afford it I would Rat one to the the max matt black with all sots bolted to it . : )

I prefer the standard colours. Great bike.
Nice bike!
The only thing that bothers me about the flat twins is what's gonna happen to those cylinders when it goes down the road on it's side and hits curb? Are you gonna be able to pick it up and get home on it? Other than that they look and sound awesome. Thanks Kate!
looks great, if that seat was dipped and followed the contours of that Alluminium bracket, it would look better
Great video-I'm a big fan of the R ninet. Regarding the gear indicator ... I am addicted to them on my bike but funny thing is it never crosses my mind to look at what gear I'm in when driving a manual shift car. Not sure what that's all about :)
@UsernameKate

Haha I'm the same. I prefer to look at my gear indicator than my speedo when taking tight bends 🤣
My dream bike 😍😎
love the top one and the racer. This one, with this option 719 colors? bring out the previous 718 options. Except if you live in Dubai.
The ride height would really put me off I think, my V85 adv bike is lower! :D I was very tempted to get one when they first came out to replace my Moto Guzzi V7, but couldn't get a good deal with my local BMW dealership so threw all my dosh into customising the V7, so if I had an R9T, I'd probs do a similar look to my V7 and get it into a nice looking caferacer that handles properly for trackday funs :-)
I have to say looking down at that design of the paint on the tank when you were riding and the fact you said it was taller than the rest of the R9T range. It reminded me of a packet of Superkings cigarettes. Maybe back in the day you could have got them to sponsor you to modify the bike?
The R Nine T definitely has a soulful charm to it. 😎 👨👩👧❤

I’d do one of these 3 setups on an R9T The black and gold 40th anniversary Urban GS, add the tach. A Pure with spoked wheels, an exhaust add the tach, or the white red and blue Urban GS with the same mods. I used to own this bike’s granddad, 1980 R100 and I miss that bike’s character.
Would love an R9T, but have the XSR7 for fun and the 390 Duke for commuting and can't justify another bike right now, but.....
The r9t is just a work of Art and this is why I could never convert into the Far East type of Bikes, Euro is where is at, Very bias when it comes to BMW and Triumph. Once BMW decides to upgrade to a tft dash like on the Triumph Trident, I will probably really consider getting this one, Beauty this Bike!

I think this is the model I would go for ..I am around 3 grand away from being able to bite the bullet ... . I had the 1978 R80 with the 5 gallon blue tank .. That and the 61 R69s are the two bikes I wish I never sold . WHen you ride through the winter you do need some kind of pannier for a rain suit and a layer or two and winter gloves and heated grips for sure .. Farm land here so the suspension has to be good for the loose gravel.. On my STreet Scrambler I do miss the shaft drive ... If we ever get passed this covid I would love to come for a visit and ride the lakes ..Does the Manchester BMW rent bikes for a week or two ???.. If not maybe Nottingham Roadcraft dose . Hope to meet you before I am too old to do this anymore :) ... The Lakes the Dales and the Peaks .... This is a bike for them all ... Yours from New England and Happy New Year !!! GUy
