2020 Big Daddy Don Garlits, talks about helping Shirley Muldowney get her NHRA license

In Feb of 2020, The Biggest Legend In Drag Racing, Big Daddy Don Garlits tells us a little bit about the support his first wife gave him during his racing years and how he first felt about women in a dangerous sport. This is just one clip from the 1 hr video. Hot Rod Hanna got to sit and talk with Don about many subjects. As Don turned 88 yrs old this year, there is nothing slowing this man down. We got to learn and hear some great stories of his life growing up with the need for speed and about his junk yard days and building his race cars. Stay tuned for the rest of our great interview with the king of NHRA drag racing. or see more at www.MotorHeadM...

Two legends of the sport. I meet Don Garlits and Shirley Muldowney at a Car show in Toronto. I still have the 1 litre bottle of Kendall oil that he signed.

I always enjoyed walking through the pits at big events to see all the huge crews working feverishly between rounds on their fuellers and then walk by Garlits working solo on his while talking non-stop to the fans that gathered around him to watch the master at work.

If your going to interview the Grandfather of drag racing about the first NHRA licenced female driver and the greatest female driver. You might want to at least watch the movie first. Oh and put the mic on the person your interviewing, not the interviewer.

In 1999 I was there with knut Söderqvist (R.I.P), Knutte brought with him carbon fiber intake that was to be mounted on TF dragsters in the Museum. Then we moved on to Ganesville for the Gatornationals who had their 30th anniversary that year . .... “Alcohol is for drinking, gas is for cleaning parts, and nitro is for racing!” - Don Garlits
