2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio | Shamrocking the Germans

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

When I first tested this car 3 years ago I was blown away by its handling and acceleration declaring it a performance sedan juggernaut the likes of which I had never before experienced. But a less than cabin and dated electronics kept me from fully embracing this Italian beauty. But now, those issues have been resolved making the Giulia Quadrifoglio the most lusted after car in its class.

    I've had mine for 13 months, driven from Maine to Miami and back. A truly great car. Never had any problems, no warning lights, etc. Love this car. A friend with experience with Ferrari bought one saying its more than just the engine is Ferrari engineered. Rush out and get one while the market is soft. Some great deals out there.

    I love my Infiniti G35S to death and if I was in the market for something similar but with more modern gusto, it would definitely be that Giulia ... because of the column-mounted magnesium paddle shifters alone. LOL Every time I see one or a Stelvio, I get excited seeing it like a toddler sees Santa. Of course reliability is always an issue but for sheer driving dynamic and theatrics, I know I’d have a field day with it. - Top-shelf review as always, Steve! 🔥

    Willfastbackse The EPA classifies it as a midsize. It’s really a tweener: bigger than compact, though. And what engine does the S6 have? A 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6. Roughly the same size, too. And roughly the same price. Much more comparable than an S4.

    BMW's new grille designs aren't ordinary Steve. They're horrible. And everybody who has bashed Lexus for the spindle grille design needs to apologize. And do you have any insight at all whether or not Alfa's reliability has notched upwards? I think that is the biggest obstacle to prospective owners. Fantastic review yet again Mr. Hammes!!

    I thought Nicolette would make an appearance, but not so. And the funny thing is this... your Alfa Romeo dealership is no longer in your area, but there are 2 here in the Indianapolis area. Unusual. Especially when there's one one Lexus, Lincoln, and Audi dealerships respectively in a metro area of 800,000.

Saludos.

    @@rahxe80 The whole point of the QV is performance. Part of that decision was to purposely build the car with a carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber roof, and carbon fiber crankshaft like many supercars. I understand if some folks would want them, but I like Alfa's decision not to compromise. If folks want a sunroof they can get a different trim.

  • @rahxe80

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@rodlopezgoogle the bmw m3 is also a performance sedan and even with a sunroof is lighter then the alfa so all that carbon fiber is kind of a waste . Contrary to what alfa thinks most qv owners are not tracking there cars . They are being used as fun commuter cars which may say some track time . If bmw can offer a sunroof in their highest 3 series trim level there is no reason why alfa cant .

  • @rodlopezgoogle

    @rodlopezgoogle

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@rahxe80 Well yeah, the M3 doesn't have the big motor that this has, yet it's still slower and handles much worse. That's the direction BMW decided to go into, sacrificing performance and driver feel for accommodations like a sunroof. Some people like them for it, but many BMW fans hate them for it and think they've lost their way. Alfa decided to go in a different direction and not sacrifice, and that's why fans of the driving experience love them for it. Also why it's beaten out the M3 and C63 in pretty much every review. Of course everyone can have their own taste and they do offer a different trim with a sunroof.

If you wanna compare it to an Audi, you should probably pick RS5 4door since there’s no RS4 sedan, but S6 is way too big to be comparable (different class) and also way too slow (QV is RS competitor). It still may hold the title of fastest 4 door under $100,000... not sure. But 3.8 is fast 0-60 . My Ferrari is only half a second faster. Again not bad for a 4 door. I had a 2018, lots of fun, very hard to use the brakes smoothly in normal driving. It was all on or off. Made you feel like an idiot with others in the car. Grip was off the chart. Super, super car. I had the Bypass Exhaust valve by FORZA, that way you hit a button and it sounds like it is in full race mode, all the pops and snaps without risking your neck. And it will do it in any position of the DNA dial. Now that wicked. But I kept it 8 months and lost an eye watering $23,000. I was expecting maybe a 10,000 drop the first year. So maybe buy a 2018 for $56,000. But hard to beat a new car.
